I love the podcast, guys, but you should seriously consider adding chapters for each long form episode. Releasing the short snippets first is frustrating because I'd love to also watch the full episode.. but don't really want to haphazardly skim through the entire thing for any content I may have missed. Just my thoughts on it.
If reselling didn’t exist, you’d never be able to find retro games for sale. People hate how straight forward he is about it, but I like that he’s open and honest about something every collector does.
That's an... interesting take. He is buying games for a low price and selling them to people who want them for a high price. If he wasn't doing that, then the person who wants the game could just buy the game for the low price. It's just leeching.
@@MotleyDeth you do realize that some areas in the country don't have Mom and Pop video game stores right? If you ever bought anything off of eBay you bought from a reseller. You are the typical clown that comments this bull crap on his videos aren't you?
@@MotleyDethHe is buying from people in his network who sell to him... he even created an app to make the process more streamlined. the average collector does not have access to these resources but rest assured they can still go to a game store or eBay and easily buy these games for less than what they sell for on Amazon. Don't see what the issue is.
@@MotleyDeth So... if you want to buy games, you have to spend time you might not have to search for these games at garage sales, flea markets etc? Maybe I don't have a lot of that in my area. Perhaps the only way for me to get the majority of my games would be to buy from a reseller. Maybe I don't have the bandwidth to spend my weekends doing this, let alone weekdays. This doesn't work for everyone, let alone a majority of people. This take is completely disconnected with reality. Try looking beyond your own situation.
Met Phoenix Resale at So Cal Gaming Expo and he was very nice and polite. I love watching his videos and look forward to them. I like the business details that are out there and it is what made me buy and flip to expand my personal collection. If people don't like the fact he is open and honest about his business "oh well". When he sold the GameCube games I was more interested in what he kept. Those were the ones that he really wanted. Phoenix Resale be you and don't change!
There is absolutely no reason to hate Caleb. It's just collectors that see him as someone who keeps inventory low and prices up. His channel is more reselling focused than collecting, so that's automatically going to get hate. Nothing to do with his personality. It's funny how hoarders think they have the moral high ground here.
Might even praise these guys for getting the games back into the market. Could even debate the hoarders just hold onto their games and never give anyone else the oppertunity to finish their collection.

People that have no chill when it comes to resellers are entirely unreasonable. It's like they expect that every single person should have to spend their weekends going to flea markets, garage sales, etc... to find games in the wild, and it's frankly absurd. There's not a lot of that where I live, so I don't have much of a choice but to buy games from scumbags resellers. That's mostly how I built my collection. Otherwise, I guess I just would have to go without those games. Yeah... I'm a little envious when I see the deals some of them find, knowing they're going to flip them for a profit, but I feel like a lot of the hate is really absurd and some of those people are just looking to get angry about something.
What exactly without resellers how will comic collectors get comics they can't find local to them. Trading card collectors how will they find cards for their collection that they can't pull out of packs. Action figure collectors how will they find stuff they can't find the local area. I could go on and on but resellers help collectors no matter what they collect. People who crap on resellers have zero idea on what they're talking about.
Reselling is def a high. I bought Battletoads Double Dragon for the NES with the manual for $5 at a yard sale. When I sold it a few weeks later for $140, I def got that rush of endorphins and have been looking for that high ever since.
It’s funny to see how out of touch they are about current vs past game argument. Literally gta 5 and call of duty have broke into mainstream gaming and have made billions of dollars. Furthermore why remakes are so popular because people enjoy new shiny graphics and better controls, at least when it comes to older 3D games from the n64 ps1 era.
There was a point where Riff was a pretty hated guy in the UA-cam gaming community. Just because he was the new, annoying guy showing up in a lot of the OG channels. He has climbed up the ladder over time and toned it down a bit. He also surrounded himself with a lot of new, younger guys who he picks on and jokes on all the time (Caleb, Curtis, Rick). It's the same thing you see in school. The kid who gets picked on grows up, hangs out with the younger kids and now its his turn to bully the kids. I know its all in good fun, but it vets to a point where its too much. Caleb and Curtis are good sports putting up with the junk Riff says, but I'm sure it does hurt to some extent. Self reflection is very important.
He gives Christianity a bad name with his crude, filthy sexual jokes though. Maybe talented guy, but could use a cleaning up of his weird unwholesome joking.
Terrible take, and inaccurate, Kris (who’s another close friend) is OLDER than Riff, and RICKY is the same age, and he makes fun of him as well, it’s just the dynamic they have between each other that you are perceiving as bullying. You must have never had a group of close guy friends growing up. 😂 This is how all of us were with each other.
i actually grew up with guys like riff that always picks on everybody but it comes to a point that it gets too much already. its fun at first but if you do it constantly like what riff does to everybody it gets old and its not fun anymore. i actually like caleb more that riff because of his honesty and transparency. riff picking on everybody just a sign of insecurity and he is just full of himself, too self righteous. look what happened with gabbo, he alienated the guy because he was too full of himself for not acknowledging the other people that made his channel successful. one last thing the bothers me about riff is he keeps inserting himself, as in adding commentary, on calebs and ricks videos just to poke fun at them. as if having your own youtube channel is not enough and you have to insert yourself in the videos of the people you edit for? :) i just think no one speaks up to him (except caleb) because he is the "boss" of the channel and they respect that without riff they wont be on the channel or on youtube.
I've watched Caleb's channel for years hes always polite with people. He was even nice and understanding to the guy who wanted $1000 for his backwards compatible ps3. imagine walking up to someone IRL, and being like you sold some gamecube games man. im pissed.
been a fan of you guys and phoenix resale for a long time now and contrary to all the hate, you guys have inspired me and taught me so much about the resale business that i now have a small side hustle that makes me a few dollars here and there and whenever i have a satisfied customer i get a boost in confidence. all im saying is instead of hating scumbag resellers try to take a step back maybe learn how and why they do what they do.
Guys, please change the way you upload your episodes. I love the show but I hate that I watch some parts before the whole thing is released, then, when you drop the 2 hr video, I don't know if I've seen it all or it will have some additional content... Please?
If you want to watch the whole podcast then go listen to it somewhere else. They likely upload in pieces so they make more than just a couple bucks here and I get the feeling they are paid better in the podcast sites (apple podcast, etc.). I forget where but there are places you can listen in to the entire podcast right away.
I think a main difference with Gabbo selling 75% of his collection is that he has been very transparent about that ultimate outcome. I have heard him say, repeatedly, that he plans to sell most of it once he completes the set. And to be clear, I have no problem with what Caleb did selling off part of the GC collection, especially based on how he described the thought process here. It just makes sense to sell games that I have bought but wind up not liking when I get around to playing them. No sense in keeping games in my collection that I don't like or have any sort of connection to.
First off, love Caleb and his content. Been a sub there for a long time. I never read YT comments so I don't really understand these people who are hating on people that resell games. Those same people probably turn around and buy stuff at GameStop. Also don't really understand how someone like Caleb gets such a label in a vid like this when Riff just recently put out a video with Whatnot as a sponsor showing that he has over 100k lifetime sales. Riff is every bit a reseller. Where's the hate for him? Collecting and reselling are basically the same damn thing. People need to get over it. Love Caleb, love Pixel Game Squad.
Tyler Olivera is a drama drumming youtuber. He also makes an effort to show one side to every story while making it seem like he is unbiased. I knew he was just the typical drama youtuber but when he pulled that stuff with the Whitaker family happened, we really saw his true colours; showing 1 side and making a big deal out of something without verifying the claims, calling out people doing good deeds, etc. He really is a clickbait buffoon.

Capitalism in a money printing system really sucks. Working people (or poors) will eat each other first because we overwhelmingly didn't get by on opportunism or speculation. PhoenixResale is an interesting subject, on one hand he collects which is great because my line in this argument is if you collect and then also sell to supplement that collecting it's acceptable. But on the other hand, he has channels that shove your nose in the fact that he gets this for that and then sells it for X. Don't get me wrong, reselling is ok because it's part of collecting, but having a channel that is really just about him buying low and selling high isn't very respectable to a lot of collectors...hence the negativity towards him. I chose to stop watching his stuff a long time ago, it's kind of a bummer when the guys i like to watch bring him in because I, and many others just aren't a fan of him.
My unpopular opinion is that both Caleb and similarly DKoldies expose how unlikable a large percentage of the game collecting community is. So many adults are just so socially inept, unhappy and petty and just like to bring everyone down around them with their negativity.
anyone see the parallels between retro rick and phoenix resale? they both started small and took their passion of gaming to heights they could only dream of. retro rick did the $10 game collection which boosted his channel and eventually bought a game store. phoenix resale flipped his way into the gamecube gambit, the playstation project and mission switch into a mega successful reselling business.
The problem with Phoenix Resell’s channel is that I think most of his subscriber base came on board when he was collecting Gamecube to try and get the complete set. So “collectors” were becoming his major subscriber base. So when he started selling off his collection immediately after getting the set he pissed off the majority of his sub base. I couldn’t care less what he does. I try not to judge anyone bc thats only for God to do. But also hating on someone bc of video games is stupid as hell lol
I don't hate Caleb. I personally hate how much you guys in America pay so damn much per game. I'm from the U.K. and I'm not the stores biggest fan sometimes. However, CEX in the U.K. has reigned the prices in, so it's mostly affordable here. Caleb and tonnes of other people in the US resell, as how damn lucrative it actually is. I don't blame him, as you guys just keep paying the piper. Thats the main issue.
"Ended up with over 100 GC games"... So you made 100% of profits on games given to you by viewers thinking they were helping you build your childhood dream..
I have watched the entire series. Caleb sold much more than 100 GameCube games, also he told a lot of people that the games were for his collection. He is in the wrong. Love him or hate him, the decision to sell off items that were given to you under false pretenses is wrong.
I love the podcast, guys, but you should seriously consider adding chapters for each long form episode. Resale gaming has been a huge reason why ive gotten into watching youtube videos.

"Storytelling" you guys walk in garages, flea markets and game stores. Wth story are you telling.
It’s just trying to get people to like him because he craves it like a damn junkie.
I think that's referring to when he sets a goal at the beginning like completing a collection or something like that.
Their life story 😂 what else? It’s the journey not the destination. You missed the entire point.
Am I having deja vu? swear ive seen this before
You've seen it broken up into segments and released as separate videos. This is the entire recording.
biker gangs dont want police around collectors dont want resellers around same reason you didnt have rollerblading at socal . no need to play dumb for your buddy
Caleb doesn't have an authentic bone in his body. I don't understand how these guys like him. He just seems annoying even from a distance
Do you know him personally?
Wow that's a brutal title! Dangggggggggg DOGGGGGGGG!
5lotham is Phoenix resale's number 1 fan. 😂
Tnx for the full episode in youtube!
Then time you had the conversation about what is the best game, you should establish first what "better" means.

This is a hot topic, one of the greatest for my debating point of view and it has been since ancient times, Old is better, new is cr....

“Im mad but I wont tell you why…” immature game store owner and person
Guys... please get better chairs. Those look like the most uncomfortable things ever made lol
Does collecting make you a better person?
The more I see Caleb the more I like him, another great episode boys
You can tell riff was that super annoying kid at school lol
I wish Riff would enunciate the “T’s” in his discourse.
1:53:00 you really wanna stir the pot, GBA or SNES
This made my Friday night..
Your going to be hated when you call God Of War RAGNOROKRKOROKROKROK your fav game of all time seriously troubled
Caleb gets way too much hate. Who the cares what he does. He is not hurting nobody so nobody should care.
This guy makes so much money reselling does it even matter? lol - People hate on famous actors and sports players/celebrities in general for the same reason (they make lots of money and are just jealous)
Capitalism in a money printing system really sucks. Working people (or poors) will eat each other first because we overwhelmingly didn't get by on opportunism or speculation. Or if we do it looks more like a lucky break. Which may not be fair but I would argue that in a money printing system ALL success is a lucky break. Jealousy is corrosive though, and coveting is an actual sin. I just don't want people to suffer in order for other people to succeed. In retail/resale maybe that's an impossible ask. Just keep it real, which I think Phoenix does
Caleb is the man
PhoenixResale is an interesting subject, on one hand he collects which is great because my line in this argument is if you collect and then also sell to supplement that collecting it's acceptable.
Love you guys!
My unpopular opinion is that both Caleb and similarly DKoldies expose how unlikable a large percentage of the game collecting community is. So many adults are just so socially inept, unhappy and petty and just like to bring everyone down around them with their negativity.
They are miserable men who don’t have a life that gate keep and whine like babies. It’s so cringe
Completely agree with that and applies to modern day society as a whole.A lot of bored people that just turn to hating on everything etc.
No shit. The community is so entitled and hateful.
anyone see the parallels between retro rick and phoenix resale? they both started small and took their passion of gaming to heights they could only dream of. retro rick did the $10 game collection which boosted his channel and eventually bought a game store. phoenix resale flipped his way into the gamecube gambit, the playstation project and mission switch into a mega successful reselling business.
Yeah dude
Why should they care what a guy does with his own possessions and money
The haters are losers
I need to go back and watch heckin Steve go off on Caleb again that’s pure comedy.
Yeah go back to watching that miserable hermit neck beard 😂 definitely better than opened minded people who are light hearted right?
I wouldn’t say most hated. I mean, look at Dr. Disrespect right now.
He’s not hated he’s appreciated
I'm probably more hated😢
Hater Hank checkin' in

I think it's because everyone on youtube is a flipper reseller channel now, it's so overplayed and not original at all.
Phoenix is the GameStop of the “retro video game” UA-cam world. I love the guy, no hate. But that’s why he gets so much hate. GameStop vibes.
Not a fan of the title
"Ended up with over 100 GC games"... So you made 100% of profits on games given to you by viewers thinking they were helping you build your childhood dream..
You obviously never watch the GameCube Gambit
You have no idea what you're talking about, do you
I have watched the entire series. Caleb sold much more than 100 GameCube games, also he told a lot of people that the games were for his collection.
He is in the wrong. Love him or hate him, the decision to sell off items that were given to you under false pretenses is wrong.
@@Maxquaza who gives a chit if he sold it all. What he does with his PROPERTY isn't anyone's business but Caleb's.
I think resellers kind of get a bad name from scalpers.
