(Context for those not in the know: In 2017, Ding Dong & Julian were the only gay men in the office while Dream Daddy was being developed. They were shown an early build and were offended by what they considered to be tasteless pandering and exploitation of the LGBT community. Apparently they weren’t the only ones and a group of people were planning on speaking up about it and suggested that Ding Dong & Julian be the ones to speak up first since they were the only two gay men. So Ding Dong went on stream and said what he thought about it all and has very fair and rational criticism about the game. But this caused a major backlash from people at the Grumps office and had people including Suzy and Ninja Brian publicly tweeting against Ding Dong trying to discredit everything he said. They claimed he was lying about ever seeing the game and that he was just out to get the Grumps team. In response to this, the “lovelies” came to the Grumps defense and started going after Ding Dong. They doxxed him, and even contacted his abusive homophobic mother telling her their son was gay before he ever had a chance to come out to them. His family was NOT accepting of this and apparently it wasn’t pretty after they found out. This pushed Ding Dong to attempt suicide but he was stopped by Julian. The Grumps never acknowledged this, and apparently told everyone to keep quiet. Just to let everyone know, out of Ding Dong and Julian's wishes. Please don't go out and harass anyone mentioned in this video. Since Ding Dong obviously shows contextually in the video through his tone. This was obviously more of a rant/stress relieving stream where he wanted to get a lot of feelings off his chest. He obviously doesn't want anyone contacted, harassed, or made a huge deal from this stream. He also doesn't want to start anything or create drama. So please dont think of this much more than him blowing off steam and releasing emotions.
Pretty sure Dingdong made a comment on Bowblax's video telling him to "fuck off for removing the context only to use as clickbait, this was resolved years ago just let it go"
You say, giving the stream an incredibly misleading title and contradicting the story being told by doing so. You're the type that pushes Ding Dong and Julian to stop interacting with people online.

I think it was less of him being a good guy and more of him riding the fence. Getting involved in serious shit legitimately makes Chris uncomfortable no matter who it is. I could definitely see Chris joking about the whole suicide situation without understanding the serious implications of it

This is the saddest shit I learned about. DD and Julian were hands down my favorite Oneyplays members. Always wondered why they left but I never knew it was this dark. Also, what did Chris do?

he made a reddit post a few months ago talking about the yiik finale saying he wanted dingdong and julian to help approve it, and one of dingdongs last tweets was about the yiik finale so they're obviously not on bad terms
Yeah Chris didn't do anything, in that final episode of Kingdom Hearts 2 of the oneyplays channel, Julian and dingdong mentioned on that final let's play together saying that they were going to be going off to do other things. They left the channel because they wanted to pursue their creativity by making a new video game at that time. It was really sad to hear Julian tell Chris on that game saying, well it was fun I'm glad we got to play this game together one last time.
Unfortunately them wanting to create something new and something everybody would love how to turn out so nasty and toxic. Even though ding dong and Julian are no longer on the internet, I wish them the best of luck and I hope for their mental health to improve after all this

This sucks to hear, especially since I'm a big fan of all three: Game Grumps, OneyPlays, and Supermega. I knew there was some controversy behind Dream Daddy for a while now but never looked into it, I just chalked it up to being typical LGBT community drama nitpicking something small rather than this huge matter. It's so unbelievably unfair that DD and Julian couldn't speak up about this and when they did the people around them betrayed them like this. Pretty ridiculous that Matt cut him off like that too and acts like he's the "bad guy" in this situation. I know you commented saying you don't want anyone to harass anybody and trust me I won't, I do however wish Game Grumps and Supermega could step forward and acknowledge this instead of not bringing it up and just sweeping it under the rug as if it never happened. This ordeal almost cost DD his life, and ruined it in many areas. It's not something you just pretend to forget and go about your life like it never happened.

Despite the fact that back then I supported them and still do now, I can't help but feel like I was personally being yelled at.
There is genuine hurt and emotion in those words and in a way, I'm glad he was able to get this out there. That these events genuinely had an effect on their lives.
I've been there with trying to keep someone as a friend, or keeping my head down because I've been guilted into doing so. It sucks and you never know what it feels like until it happens.

I'm glad dingdong is still here, I loved the old trio of Oney plays, I laughed so much at many bits and enjoyed the idea that they were really laughing and joking about said bits, I am deeply ashamed in arin and Dan, the fact that arin isn't even real cuts me to my core, I laughed at arins bits, I enjoyed his rage moments, fake and real, but after this I might write a very solid argument to arin somewhere,
i completely feel you, man. it's so unfair that we were packaged and sold these nice personas while they were allowed to act like monsters behind the scenes. more than anything else i admire DD and Julian's strength and the ethical responsibility they chose to prioritise. yes, our image of people we used to love has been tarnished, but i suppose in turn we gain truth, and also the knowledge that DD and Julian are REAL people, rather than just caricatures.

I don't really understand, I need some context. What was actually stopping them from leaving with what DD was saying at the start? Were they under contract or like on the lease at the place they're saying or something? I don't know the whole story but from where the clip starts it sounds like the only thing stopping them was just other people telling them to stop?
They were under contract with game grumps doing their editing as well as collaborating with Chris for OneyPlays, the inability to leave seems to suggest Arin is a giant baby dick when it comes to deadlines and doesn't take humanity into consideration, so consider that they were not only doing long hours recording things with Chris, but then they immediately had to go edit whatever other BS game grumps was pumping out at the time and had to pay for an apartment in LA so if they needed to do other things besides edit or had other obligations Arin would threaten to cut them off because I'm sure Arin just thinks it's "all about business" Its actually why I've come to despise game grumps, they have become a serialized money grubbing faction of elitist snobs and I'd wager dollars to donuts their managerial practice of keeping their editors in financial shackles hasn't stopped just because DD and Julian left to form their own company
I can't wait for DingDong to return and take over the streaming and game developing market. I know he could if he wanted to, maybe he doesn't want to, but it would be a gift to me and all his fans, and I know we would support him, more than enough.

Seems to me DD is ranting about how almost everyone he works with is a snake. They act like friends but the moment something bad happens everyone covers their own asses. These toxic conditions are usually caused by the boss because the culture of a company is determined by the boss.

This is the most concise way I can put it. DD and Julian had some harsh criticisms about Dream Daddy being insincere pandering. Certain individuals with influence within the company made their lives hell for essentially stepping out of line while others did nothing to intervene. It culminated with a suicide attempt, and some people DD thought he could trust told him that him being dead would make some people they hate look really bad. The two realized the entire organization was rotten to the core and just cut ties completely.

I think its wild that this "drama" is just this weird Shadow that alot of people and also no one knows about. I guess GG and Supermega just managed to attract the exact perfect storm of an audience. The majority are reactive but performative so the hypocrisy of ignoring this kind of crticism or defending them is totally plausible.
I do think Digdong is a bit extra at times, just like i believe that of Lex. But its interesting that the concept of Matt being more interested in a career than in human connection appears in both issues even though otherwise theyre quite different.
People talking about "well more would complain if GG or Supermega were really that bad" dont seem to grasp that what DD and Lex described are subtle actions or lack of actions that cause the problems. These subtle things likely go over many people's heads, or they dont amount to much for most people to have an issue. People dont understand what the problem even is, much less the little tidbits that paved the path. I dont think anyone in Supermega or GG is EVIL, but they do seem to be a bit callous or fake in a way that would make people who are very genuine uncomfortable (not talking about Lex because shes sus, i mean like DD) but many hollywood clout chasers see as the norm. Thats why no one else has an issue, its just like four people that had the closeness and emotional intelligence to notice there even was an issue.

Sorry to hear that DingDong and Julian but that's a part of life. People that are meant to be there will stay in your life, and people that aren't are just there for the journey. AND like Dingdong stated its in the past and he HAS moved on from it then. see the issue is they tried to mix buisness and friendship, which doesnt work well imo in a lets play setting where its more or less how well people vibe and interact with each other, and they cared more about their public image than who they interacted with. its why i dont like super mega and game grumps because they just seem disingenuous, they care really only about content, are desperate to seem funny and wacky, and prioritize their brand rather than the relationships of who they are friends with. its why the oneyplays crew is the best, because yeah they schedule stuff, but theyre just friends who hang out and shoot the sh!t and talk about dumb stuff or trash talk a bad game. oh yeah they also dont screw over their friends.

@@hisaceinthehole3426 The most important thing in business relationships is keeping things professional, and while it's true that that can be difficult to do with friends as long as you're both understanding of your roles within the business then I don't really see a problem with it. I think the important thing to take away from people saying that it's a bad idea is that you should be very aware that your friendship is secondary to business goals. But a friendship can be a powerful bond between business partners and there are plenty of examples of this. Ben & Jerry's, Airbnb, Warby Parker and even Apple were all started by good friends.

Remember that Ding Dong also said the public narrative is almost completely wrong and "bizarro". If it were as easy as blaming the grumps he wouldn't have said that. Chris O'Neil could be a contributing factor in his harassment, I know it's a tough pill to swallow but that's the impression I got when listening to the full unedited stream that got taken down. Also (and even more damning of Chris) Julian out right said that he would "Never forgive the people that defended Shadman."
It's possible Ding Dong made up with Chris years later, hence why they made videos in 2021.
chris has always said really shitty things so i wouldnt be surprised, he seems like that type of guy who is completely emotionally stunted and unable to empathize with people. But i really do hope they made up

Chris has never said anything bad about Ding Dong or Julian and they've never said shit about Chris either. As far as I can tell they still get on, Chris has even mentioned visitations where they never aired an Oneyplays episode and just hung out. Pretty sure they still play vidya off screen all the time too. Even before last year when they did the YIIK playthrough Ding Dong was on one of Chris streams. This is exactly what DD was talking about on twitter and the reason why he didn't want any of this to be reuploaded because people will make up all sorts of speculations based on nothing.
@@chelronin7843 DD said he was on call with Chris in this stream and Chris has gone out of his way to publicly call out Arin in front of millions as well as take digs at him on the show like the Dragons Dogma episodes. I do not believe for a second DD and Julian have any beef with Chris himself.

Thank you. I was hoping they were still cool with each other. Those old Oneyplays episodes are very funny and it'd be tragic to relisten to them if Chris were also being scummy to DD and Julian. I wish the 3 hour version of the stream were still available, though. It got real heavy(he talked about his mother being physically and emotionally abusive his whole life), and DD emphasized over and over that no one had their back in 2017, and that there was a false narrative that someone stood up for them. I hadn't seen the full stream but It's a relief to know he spoke with Chris before and after his tirade.

Honestly I'm rather surprised that people are shocked about GameGrumps. Yes they seem happy together and have fun but the whole Danny being a creep thing was swept under the rug so it's no shock this BTS conflict isn't known. Seriously though, Grumps are a company - not just some friends recording video games on a couch. For a second just try view this objectively and see that from Arin's standpoint he needs to be successful so all the people working for him get paid. As much as I like Ding Dong and Julien, it sounds like neither was ready for Los Angeles culture and corporate life. That is fine. No shade on either - it is hard, high pressure, and not for everybody. I am glad they have found a nice base of medium energy fan success on Twitch. The thing with Game Grumps is that they likely aren't all that bad to work for. If they were we would be hearing multiple stories like this coming out of the business. Former employees having a huge Twitlonger about it.
Compare to Channel Awesome which, Doug seems nice, sure, but he had no idea how to run production and was ill prepared for running a company. No catering for shooting in the Mohave for their little movie, no understanding in how to run sexual harassment complaints, and so on. Thus almost every producer from the late 00s has horror stories about how bad everything was when working under the banner.
Just bc a thousand ppl arent running out of the company doesn't necessarily mean the company is "not that bad" or isn't shady at least.

I'm not saying they're full of shit, but it's kind of weird how pretty much every single person to work for the Game Grumps has left the office amicably and these guys are the only sources of drama I've seen out of ex-employees.
If anyone has a source from one of the "group of people" mentioned in the story or from any of the employees that were asked to keep quiet about the whole situation, I'd love to hear some corroborated stories on this matter. If there really were multiple people involved in this issue, I'm sure one of them has broken the silence by now, right?

The only concrete example I can think of is ProJared, but even then I think it says less about specific people and more about GG's policy of cutting ties with all controversial figures. Which kind of makes sense, as interpersonal drama exposed online will basically always be "he said she said" stuff, and Forum Politics would never reach an acceptable consensus. Some reconciliation would be nice for catharsis, but basically everyone's got some kind of dirt. It's why I don't really care to boycott, with one exception.
