Fellow only smash player for many years, give it a try! Its so cool, and the movies in the basic form arnt too hard to process. Normally fighting games intimidate me, but this game just feels like a constant game of rock paper scissors, with gratifying results when you win the guessing game. :)
I’m a big Smash player but I got this game around launch thinking I’d give a 2D fighter a shot finally, as well as using a stick too, and I’ll say, I’m LOVING it. It’s a fantastic game and so fun to watch too.

That setup by kakeru was a sure win but I'm surprised that it missed...maybe he blocked high but it registered as a low something like that... I tried it in training mode but that missing is impossible really, nice comeback for tokido... I can't wait to fight this guys I'll be going pro on street fighter scene after I entered my first Evo for FighterZ 👍

I'd say Street Fighter 5 last year was even better than this, even for people who hate SFV. But considering this is SF6's first EVO after only being out for 2 months the competition is definitely killing it. Best Top 8-I mean-Top 6 of the event.

I never knew anything about AngryBird before watching the replay of this.....him, Tokido, and MenaRD all played like champions at heart and are amazing. I loved AB's humility and surreal focus in his matches and after, you can tell he has a lot of love and respect for both the game and community! I am an AngryBird fan after today. :D

It's it just me or do the stages need to be wider, it's way to easy to get cornered, way to easy. Also I think having about 15-20% more health for everyone across the board will make this game way more fun and will allow for more comebacks and for people to not die with a few touches, nobody wants super fast ending rounds. We want a little back and forth na little more health will allow for that

(I didn't even know the second hit could whiff!) 1:06:54 - The Portal at the end of this sequence should have shot straight down and combo'ed, but it shot forward and missed!

Despite watching a bit I actually don't know for sure, but I assume it has to do with some people technically "tying" at the same spot depending on when they get eliminated? Like, don't 2 people technically get 5th place?
FGC Fan since 2011, here. There actually are only 6 people left. Kakeru, Angry Bird, Haitani, Punk, MenRD, and Tokido. The bracket at 7:35 has 2 empty slots that get filled at 46:50 by the losers of the first 2 matches (Kakeru and Haitani). Most FGC tournaments are Double Elimination, which means everybody has to lose 2 sets in the whole tournament to be out. The 4 names at the top of the brackets, where it says Winners, are in the "Winners' Bracket" which means they got to that point in the tourney without losing a set. The names when they're on the bottom half are in the "Losers' Bracket", who made it to that point and only lost 1 set. Which is why after one of the players lose a set, their name moves to one of the lower slots and if they lose in this lower section they're eliminated. However, it use to be Top 8 that would be held at the arena. But, FGC events very commonly go past schedule and at the previous EVO the Dragonball Fighterz Top 8 got really out of hand where it lasted until like 2 am in the morning. So, they decided to cut out 7th place of the medal requirements. Which means there are 2 less matches than if they did Top 8, which also means we didn't get to see the previous players and matches the 2 names in Losers' (MenaRD and Tokido) had to play to make it to the top spots.

What hardware are they using at Evo for this game does anyone know? PS5 or PC? Def not Xbox since they are handicapped in the stick/hitbox users lol Cries while playing on Xbox with a controller. Wish I could use hitbox they seem so badass.
Yep SF6 was on PS5, the other main games were on PS4. Hitbox is working on PS5 compatability but in the meanwhile you can always use a brook wingman converter with the most recent firmware update for the lowest latency 🫡

Production wise definitely. The top 6 were a little underwhelming tbh. Mirror match city and one sided beatings. SF6 really carried EVO this year.

Yeah Ken instantly puts you in the corner on one touch and you can die in two combos sometimes, it’s ridiculous

Which is why after one of the players lose a set, their name moves to one of the lower slots and if they lose in this lower section they're eliminated.
However, it use to be Top 8 that would be held at the arena. But, FGC events very commonly go past schedule and at the previous EVO the Dragonball Fighterz Top 8 got really out of hand where it lasted until like 2 am in the morning. So, they decided to cut out 7th place of the medal requirements. Which means there are 2 less matches than if they did Top 8, which also means we didn't get to see the previous players and matches the 2 names in Losers' (MenaRD and Tokido) had to play to make it to the top spots.
Sucked for Fujimura and Nemo not to get the spotlight despite being top8.

Yep SF6 was on PS5, the other main games were on PS4. Hitbox is working on PS5 compatability but in the meanwhile you can always use a brook wingman converter with the most recent firmware update for the lowest latency 🫡
