@@a.evelyn5498not op, but I'm pretty sure they're complimenting the video displaying the book text being shown on screen while it's being said. Okay so not kidding when I felt like I was near death at the hospital. I didn't eat, nothing went down. I couldn't stand up, I learned that I would need physical therapy to walk. My fever wouldn't go down and then one night I literally never felt such a need to fall asleep. All of sudden this wave of tiredness came over me but I had this bad feeling that if I did, it would be bad news for me. My mom knew something was wrong too and was doing anything she could to keep me awake. The nurses learned that I need blood transfers immediately. There was one thing I so badly wanted to read during all of this and that was to read the Hunger Games but I felt so weak and I couldn't even lift a book for too long but I still asked for the book at the hospital. They didn't have it :( But then I had the idea to look up the audio book. Thank you. This was what I needed at that time. After I finished the book, I felt like I could get through it. Re-reading this as an adult has me crying 😭 The amount of trauma Katniss has and she just sidelines it because crying is 'childish' 😢miss, you ARE a child.
Seriously though, it's so different hearing the story this time now that I'm in my 20s. Like, the image of her dramatically throwing herself on her bed sobbing, and yelling at everyone to go away when they knock at her door after shooting an arrow at the judges lunch? Well it reminded me that yup, she really is a teenager. You can picture her kicking her feet and everything. Not that her getting emotional and crying in her situation is somehow childish, I'm sure any adult would too. But an adult would still respond to this differently and have a much easier time processing these difficult feelings. She's still an adolescent though, so she's still learning. Which makes it all the more sad that she's being traumatized during such an important developmental period 😓 Poor kid
Literally! As a kid I thought she was cool strong hero and while she is as an adult I’m like “honey no! You’re a JUST child please” Plus anytime she thinks about her emotions she’s so confused because she’s never had the time to learn and understand them 😭 I just want to give her a hug and protect her now

Thank you for sharing. I love The Hunger Games movie series, and wanted to read the books, but I can't read like I use to due to floaters and dry eye. Getting old is such a bummer, but thanks to your generosity, I can finally experience The Hunger Games as written by Suzanne Collins. .... PEACE to ALL.
@@ZekeThePlumber86 There are different types of floaters; some look like tiny clouds literally floating around in your eyes, some look like tiny dots, etc. and they float around inside your eyes, back and forth across your line of vision, as you move about throughout the day. People who are nearsighted tend to suffer from floaters more often than farsighted people.

SPOILERS: When I was little this book first came out. I never had the attention span to read so I watched the movies first and it's so crazy how different the books are from the movies. Hunger Games has been trending on my fyp for a week and I'm so glad. I'm thankful to this audiobook for allowing me to finally read and listen to the book. Now for some spoilers so if you're still listening to the audiobook stop reading my comment! THE ENDING LEFT ME IN SHAMBLES! I feel so bad for Peeta and the cliffhanger we're left off on is an amazing tactic for me to go and buy the next book! ✌️😘
Rereading this makes me think so much less of the copycat dystopian books that popped up after this series. None of them had nearly the same level of integrity or insightful political critique.
The hunger games is a dystopian commentary on propaganda and capitalism and so much more. Then a million other companies looked at its success and came up with not like other girls mc has two bland love interests and a big scary government only she can stop 😖😖
I think this series is criminally underrated. How the three books and characters link is insane. Everything with the SA to victors and how they are still controlled after "winning". The way I'm convinced that every reaping is staged. Taking Peeta would reduce food to district 12, and taking Prim would devastated Katnis who also provides food. I think it was a happy accident at first when she volunteered, until the realised how cleaver her and Peeta were. I mean, look at catching fire. The arena is obviously tailored to finnick and remember how Annie was originally chosen. That would have broken finnick so nobody would have gotten out without injury and all talk of a revolution truly over as finnick wouldn't be able to function long enough to inspire a fight. The way the mutts are specific for people and the capitol tortures Johannah with water when that had originally been finicks way of calming her. I truly believe that everything is so carefully calculated and ment to be by the capital. It's unnerving but also extremely cleaver and understandable why there have been 73 hunger games before Katnis and Peeta
this is a really compelling theory! but i think the reaping being staged takes away a very important message in the plot. katniss was never the “chosen one”, it was not a predetermined decision to have her in the games. she is exactly what snow made her out to be in the last book of the trilogy: a face plucked from the masses. she was just a young girl who wanted to protect her little sister, got caught up in the unforgiving world of authoritarian politics, and eventually made to be the face of the rebellion against her initial will. yet against all odds and all her efforts to protect those she loves, the war still strips away almost everything she held dear. it’s a grounded and realistic interpretation of a world that destroys, exacerbated by the greedy and those abusive of power.
I’ve just started the books approximately 15 seconds ago because I’ve seen the movies and with the new one coming out, I want to know as much lore as possible. I don’t exactly care about the games but there’s so much more lore in the books than the movies and since the new one is a prequel, I’m interested in that.
My comfort book! The movie was awesome too! This book introduced me in loving this genre. Thank you so much! 💕 Listening to it aside from reading it is awesome!📖🔊
I fully agree, but also think calling “The Hunger Games” a “comfort” series feels like a contradiction at the very same time lol it just gets so dark and messed up. It’s harder to read as an adult now
I need to read this over the summer for my exellerated ELA class and I cannot sit and read a book without getting distracted so thank you for the audio read and the words on the screen. Now my mom can’t tell me to get off my phone
One of the advantages of reading is seeing and understanding the printed word and recognizing the correct SPELLING OF WORDS. I suggest you start reading NOW!
@@SN4PDRAG0N am I allowed to ask what Cinder and The hunger games have in common. Is it post apocalypse genre. Reason I ask is CINDER was legit a wild rendition of a fairy tale, which left me wanting so much more. This I consider more of a natural first thought run. One in which I can't parallel with anything else. Cinder tho I kinda called my cat CINDER.
I've been obsessed with the movies for ages, and I'm so SO glad I've finally read this. Being on Katniss' mind is truly heartbreaking and makes the story just that much better. Also, it's so much clearer to me how her feeling towards Peeta are, and I love that so much. This book is truly a 10/10.
I’ve been falling asleep to this every night for the past week. I thought I’d never get through this book. My goal is to finish Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes before the movie comes out
Carolyn McCormick does so well as the narrator I do not watch the films they cannot compete. They have a new narrator now I have to buy these on cd. For Carolyn McCormick. Best Narrator I’ve ever heard I’ve heard 20-30.
An amazingly touching and heartbreaking book, action pack and desperately paced. Chilling and uplifting, an incredible achievement for a YA book. As charming as Harry Potter books are they haven't the same gravity as this book series the fact that young kids read this book gives me hope for the future.
I'm so happy this is available bc I think I have ADHD and I can't read for the life of me without getting distracted and I have to read this for school, thx :)
It might seem like I leave under a rock but this is my first time of reading this book and I have never seen the movie. This was such an amazing book that words are not enough to express how beautiful this book is. The narrator was also super amazing.
I've grown up on distopian books and movies such as this series. I always love hearing about people getting into stories like these because they're not only just phenomenal stories, but they really do speak to current societies aswell!!
Peeta: “How many times have you seen someone wrestle someone to death?” Well Peeta, if Heracles was able to kill a lion by wrestling it, you can certainly do it. And Achilles managed to kill a powerful Trojan Warrior by wrestling him (granted they both used chokehold methods, but the concept still applies.) Never say wrestling can’t be deadly.
Listening to these audiobooks that went on to be adapted into movies, it makes you realise just how little creativity went into a lot of movies. They follow the books so closely, they really couldn't go wrong as long as they didn't screw up the casting.
this is just my personal preference but I sometimes enjoy it when they follow the books closely because I want to see things put visually (as long as there's some creativity too)
@@_seaa_I agree with you. It’s disappointing when u read the books first and the movie disrupts the picture u had in ur head. I liked the fact that the movies were so close to the book.

I’m at chapter 16, and I’m not ready to hear about rues death. I can’t control myself I know I’m gonna cry. I wish it was she was from district 12 and she could have been saved
I love reading these books and/or listening to the audiobooks! I must admit though that Katniss gets under my skin sometimes, especially in chapter 10 @4:01:00 , her reaction & the way she hurt Peeta really pissed me off!
Can I just say, all this technology, machines that instanly dry your hair and they still have to remove hair this way😂 (just noticing that after all these years I've loved the books)
They really should remake the movies one day. No pretentious camera work, more loyal to the book, make it either a high PG-13 or R rating so all the young adult elements can shine thru and make it less of the glorified love triangle it became due to Twilight, get a girl to play Katniss who kinda resembles how she's described in the book as a rough looking, underweight but still fit since she's able to perform incredible feats of physical strength and endurance, pretty while she's in the capital being dolled around by the sponsors and etc, but not a girl you'd immediately think of as being pretty, Lawrence played it well and I'm not saying she was part of the reason the films weren't for me (she was probably the only part I actually did like about the movies) just didn't think it matched what I pictured as being Katniss.
I thought Finnick & Johanna's castings were PERFECT. But they didn't include their stories, which were the best parts of the book to me. Finnick in his underwear, Finnick tying knots obsessed with keeping it together, his secrets barely told, Johanna's frienemy relationship with Katniss. Hell, the actress didn't get one "Brainless" comment in the whole of the movies that I remember. Johanna's morphling addiction, her problem with water. Their training to go to the capital. So many missed opportunities.
It's an adaptation, it's not supposed to be the book, and it can never match the image in our heads. I think they were fine, and introduced a whole bunch of people to the books. And now we're getting another movie.
I have a book hungover after reading the hunger games series twice, and now I'm listening to the audiobook, anyone can recommend another book series to read so I can get over this hangover I'm having?

Life saver you both thanks
When the Army sent me to Korea, I had flu-like symptoms over a weekend and listened to all 3 books.
Thank you for your service.
😔
I'm so grateful for this video, you have no idea, it's so handy when you wanna reread one of your favorite books but you have to work, to have it in a podcast way for free❤ thank you.
Right? I'm listening also at work. Nightshift is brutal but free audio books are godsend
Dry eye is usually caused by food allergies - get it tested and add some magnesium threonate to improve your vision.
Hear, hear! This book gives me goose bumps at times , love and peace
Floaters? The little things you sometimes see in the corner of your eyes?
7:57:52
@@ZekeThePlumber86 There are different types of floaters; some look like tiny clouds literally floating around in your eyes, some look like tiny dots, etc. and they float around inside your eyes, back and forth across your line of vision, as you move about throughout the day. People who are nearsighted tend to suffer from floaters more often than farsighted people.

8:11:35 Does Thresh need a blanket possibly?
12- Medicine For Peeta’s Leg
11- A Blanket or some form of heat (I’m sure it’s not warm in that field… plus he won’t be making any fires that’s one way to burn all of his cover down. And he clearly doesn’t need food.)
5- Food (She’s starving since the explosion, she never took enough to last on purpose and clearly she’s so malnourished she’s beginning to forget things like what plants are safe
2- The Arrow-Proof Armor
Huh
i agree, a thermal blanket or possibly a tent
I don't think Finch ever had much knowledge about what food is edible even though she's clever. You're probably right about Thresh needing a blanket but I doubt Finch had one either... 🤔 idk I wish we got to know more about Thresh...
I fell asleep to this book for about 3 years, they took it off Spotify and another year later I found the exact copy with the right/best voice
What a terrific job of reading! Usually it sounds boring. This keeps my attention.

Thank you for uploading this. I wish there is a book with Peeta's point of view.
That would have been amazing, like Stephanie Meyer did with Twilight.
Me too! I was thinking about this the other day.
That’s a great idea!
I think there are fan made books that are from his point of view it might not be the same as Susanne Collin's writing but I've heard they're pretty good
I'm seriously considering writing it myself. This is not a joke. Just for fun really, I've wanted this for a decade now.

I've never heard this theory before and it blew my mind, thanks for commenting!
such an interesting theory! and it makes sense
this is a really compelling theory! but i think the reaping being staged takes away a very important message in the plot. katniss was never the “chosen one”, it was not a predetermined decision to have her in the games. she is exactly what snow made her out to be in the last book of the trilogy: a face plucked from the masses. she was just a young girl who wanted to protect her little sister, got caught up in the unforgiving world of authoritarian politics, and eventually made to be the face of the rebellion against her initial will. yet against all odds and all her efforts to protect those she loves, the war still strips away almost everything she held dear. it’s a grounded and realistic interpretation of a world that destroys, exacerbated by the greedy and those abusive of power.
I’m sorry it was bugging me it’s clever but i agree w you
I’ve just started the books approximately 15 seconds ago because I’ve seen the movies and with the new one coming out, I want to know as much lore as possible. I don’t exactly care about the games but there’s so much more lore in the books than the movies and since the new one is a prequel, I’m interested in that.
Love this book both in its original written form and this audiobook. A modern classic.

If you liked this, have you read the Cinder series? By Marissa Meyer? I'd reccomend it if you haven't 😁
@@SN4PDRAG0N I haven't. Now I shall have to look for that😁 Thanks!
Cinder tho I kinda called my cat CINDER.

it's funny, I totally agree with you on the Cinder relation. But when you look for related novels on Google, that's one them lol

It’s borderline a light novel. Like I’m fairly certain it’s honestly like less than 400 pages. Like what?
Carolyn McCormick does so well as the narrator I do not watch the films they cannot compete. They have a new narrator now I have to buy these on cd. For Carolyn McCormick. Best Narrator I’ve ever heard I’ve heard 20-30.

An amazingly touching and heartbreaking book, action pack and desperately paced. Chilling and uplifting, an incredible achievement for a YA book. As charming as Harry Potter books are they haven't the same gravity as this book series the fact that young kids read this book gives me hope for the future.

Very true about it being desperately paced. I find myself feeling in a rush when I read this book. Love it

Peeta: “How many times have you seen someone wrestle someone to death?”
Well Peeta, if Heracles was able to kill a lion by wrestling it, you can certainly do it. And Achilles managed to kill a powerful Trojan Warrior by wrestling him (granted they both used chokehold methods, but the concept still applies.)
Never say wrestling can’t be deadly.
do you think Peeta changed his opinion on how useful wrestling can be after almost being choked to death by Cato or no? 😄
Very much enjoyed this reading! Much better than the movie!!!
Yes. Books usually are.

Flying birds may be free, but they're far from safe.
Damn that’s deep-
They really should remake the movies one day.
So many missed opportunities.
the movie adaptations, although i love them remind me of how similar the book is to real life lol
It's an adaptation, it's not supposed to be the book, and it can never match the image in our heads. I think they were fine, and introduced a whole bunch of people to the books. And now we're getting another movie.
Do you have Catching Fire in the same format? I'm a special needs teacher and we listen/read using our smart Board which was a hit!
