    When i first took interest in the Korean language, i only hear shillaehapnida, maybe once or twice in kdrama and kvariety shows. It seems ppl use jeogiyo more. So i thought shillaehapnida was just one of those words that aren't really used often. But now i know that's not the case. Thanks for the lesson Mina... i mean Professor Oh : )

    Could you do a lesson (or do you have a lesson) on grammar? Like I know that basic Korean grammar is "subject, object, verb", but other than that, not so much. I was told to study grammar first before attempting to build my vocabulary, that way I know how to say the words I learn in sentences.

    When Koreans say "hap ni da" quickly, the "hap ni" sounds more like "ham ni" to me. Is this correct?

    • @hipeople9856
      @hipeople9856 4 роки тому +1

      I guarantee you've already figured this out, but in Korean, certain consonants sound different by other consonants at times. In this case, the consonant ㅂ (p) is before the consonant ㄴ(n), as in 합니다 (hapnida which is pronounced as hamnida). ㄴ (n) is a nasal consonant, and because of pronunciation rules, if ㅂ(p) is followed by a nasal consonant, it is pronounced as ㅁ (m). Mind you, this comes from someone who is just beginning to learn the language, so this could be wrong

    Is there some rule with the double s consonant not being pronounced or does my English speaking brain not recognize it? Bwatjyo for example, and I've seen other words with this ss not pronounced. Other basic and double consonants as well. Are they supposed to be omitted at the end of certain syllables?

    • @bubuheartzallie
      @bubuheartzallie 8 років тому

      +lee world Thanks for your explanation! I was actually under the impression when you say 잠시만요 it is actually saying 'excuse me' without getting their attention, as in like you don't have something specific to say to them, just excuse me then go own way nothing else. Sometimes some people don't even look at you when you say 잠시만요, they just step aside. Just my observation hehe. But 실례합니다 is when you want that person's attention or have something else to say~
