hi, if the school does offer a PGWP, does the program you are applying to matter ? I’m applying to fanshawe college ( graduate certificate) and I want to know if I’m eligible for PGWP after finishing my studies. ❤
Hi! I recently completed my studies on July 21, 2022. I'm interested in applying for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), but I have a question regarding the eligibility criteria. According to the PGWP application website, the program requires a minimum of 8 months of full-time study in Canada. However, my class started on January 3, 2023, and ended on July 21, 2003, which is less than eight months, but I completed both 1st semester and second semester. I am a compressed program. Program will still qualify for the PGWP. I wanted to confirm this because I am planning to apply for the PGWP soon. Thank you for your assistance.
IRCC just extended HK citizens 3-yr OWP's from "5-yr" recent graduates of post-secondary studies (2-yr diploma, associate degree, Bachelor or PhD) to "10-yr" recent graduates. It doesn't matter if you are a graduate in Canada or overseas. Application deadline has been pushed out by 2 years; now 7th Feb 2025. Applicants must have HK SAR or BNO passport.

There’s no work-hour limitation when working on-campus as long as you meet the ff requirements found here: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/work-on-campus.html
Hi today I have applied for my work permit and before studies I worked 20 hours per week. Should I start working 40hours or 20’hours or I have to wait till they said they started processing , I only got receipt. Of submission.
You can apply for pgwp even if you’ve worked more than 20 hours during regular study sessions. Just you will not be eligible for interim work authorization so you will need to wait until you receive your work permit. Also, once you received the confirmation of graduation, you are not eligible to work at all until after you apply for pgwp. Something to need to keep in mind.
I'm... Not sure what your process is like but. I just graduated myself, and I applied for the PGWP the moment I got my diploma. While you are waiting, you are provided with a WP-EXT letter to serve as an interim "permit" to allow you to work while you wait for a decision on your application.

Hi Rachel. Would like to ask if you have an idea how many years ( PGWP ) to be given if to take 2 programs wherein each program's duration is 8 months? Thanks.
Hi Rdancel! I am currently a full time student in BCIT but it seems I cannot get any work if I stay this way. My School schedule is 8am until 5:30pm. Can I lessen my subjects? That way I can work while being student.
Is this for the PGWP application. Proof of that wasn’t required as part of my application. Although if an audit comes your way, you will be asked to provide evidence of the hours you worked per week :)
Hi Rachel, I have applied for my PGWP online today ( still with valid study permit). Can I resume to work the day after my submitting my application? thank you.
Yes, you can work full-time after submitting your PGWP application…as long as you met these other requirements from IRCC’s website: www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1181#
Can I apply for the PGWP even if I still haven't found a skilled job? Would that time be wasted or I should just wait until I have a job to maximize my Canadian experience?
Hey hey hey Yasir! You can switch schools at any time, but be sure to inform IRC see once you’ve locked it in with the new school. It won’t be a violation on your PGWP application as long as it meets PGWP eligibility requirements. 😊

If your school is in the list, you should be able to get three years work permit. However, it still depends on the situation. You can't work until you apply the work permit, then gov will send a letter to give you the right to work. Basically, the work permit takes more than three months now.
First, the max you can get for a PGWP is 3 years only. And the PGWP length will depend on the actually length of your program, NOT the time it took you to complete it. So refer to my accelerated studies timestamp on the video. After you submit your PGWP application, you can start working full-time or as many hours as you like. PGWP application processing times varies, but you can work while waiting.
Hi Ms Rachel, I will be completing my program in 8 days from now. May I know which forms and need for applying PGWP and to extend my OWP. Yes currently Teer 3 and will planning na isabay ko si OWP. Thank you so much!

Yes, you should. Have a screenshots of your program description from your college’s website and include the link as well. Make it clear and straight to the point.
Hi Jan Mei, yes to what Day Dreamer said (btw, thank you as always for jumping in to help) - letter of explanation is always recommended because this is your chance to clear or air out any concerns that the visa officer may have about your application. The visa officer should grant you a PG to BP length based on the program length and not the time you completed said program 😊

What if during my studies I didn't work? and now I am looking for one. And I only did one program.. Is it possible to get a PR invite even if the PGWP is 1 year only? kase dba kelanga pasok sa NOC eh kaso wala ako nagwork during classes.

Ideally, yes! But aim to look at 2 years or more programs to maximize the PGWP length. 😊 Anything below 6 months is not PGWP-eligible and you’re not getting the most bang for your buck if you only take an 8-month or 1-year program (from experience hehe)

Hi Rdancel! I am currently a full time student in BCIT but it seems I cannot get any work if I stay this way. My School schedule is 8am until 5:30pm. Can I lessen my subjects? That way I can work while being student.
Hi, for those DLIs put as YES, does that mean all the programs from the school are eligible for PGWP?
Did you get any answers ?

I applied for PGWP and after 1 day my account has been revoked and I can not get it back 😢.
What should I do please.
Oh no! We’re you given as to why it was revoked? 🥹

Hi Ms Rachel. What proof did you provide that you didn’t exceed with the 20hrs allowable work? Thank you ❤️
Is this for the PGWP application. Proof of that wasn’t required as part of my application. Although if an audit comes your way, you will be asked to provide evidence of the hours you worked per week :)
Got it! Thank you for being responsive! ❤️
Hi Rachel, I have applied for my PGWP online today ( still with valid study permit). Can I resume to work the day after my submitting my application? thank you.
Yes, you can work full-time after submitting your PGWP application…as long as you met these other requirements from IRCC’s website:
www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1181#
Can I apply for the PGWP even if I still haven't found a skilled job? Would that time be wasted or I should just wait until I have a job to maximize my Canadian experience?
This is a good question. I'm also graduating this April but have no clue actually what to do
@@earthman0xdid you get any answers
Sorry, totally unrelated but what camera are you using? :D
Hey. Can we switch DLIs once we reach Canada before having started our studies? That will not count as a violation on our PGWP application right?
As long as it’s a PGWP-eligible DLI, No. You just have to inform ircc about the transfer.
Hey hey hey Yasir!
You can switch schools at any time, but be sure to inform IRC see once you’ve locked it in with the new school. It won’t be a violation on your PGWP application as long as it meets PGWP eligibility requirements. 😊
Hi, what about those studentS who changed their course on arrival in canada?Does they will face any difficulty in getting PGWP? I came to know they wont get it...
If they changed schools and it still meets the PGWP eligibility requirements, they should be able to get it.
@@rrdancel one of the youtuber shared case of a student who got admission in sep intake but when he arrived he changed the school and course for coming jan intake during this time he was doing nothing when he completed his study and was applying for PGWP so Visa officer asked why u changed the course and were u doing during this time..He didnt satisfied the VO so he was not given PGWP .
If I can complete my 2 year program in 1 and half years...i can start apply for pgwp and i can get 3 and half years of pgwp...since after completing program i can work for as many hours...am i right?... please correct me if I'm wrong...also clear my doubt...how many days it will take to get my pgwp after i applied?
If your school is in the list, you should be able to get three years work permit. However, it still depends on the situation. You can't work until you apply the work permit, then gov will send a letter to give you the right to work. Basically, the work permit takes more than three months now.
First, the max you can get for a PGWP is 3 years only. And the PGWP length will depend on the actually length of your program, NOT the time it took you to complete it. So refer to my accelerated studies timestamp on the video.
After you submit your PGWP application, you can start working full-time or as many hours as you like.
PGWP application processing times varies, but you can work while waiting.
@@rrdancel so after applying for pgwp we can work for as many hours while waiting. Is that right?
@@sharvinlouis yes you can work.
Hi Ms Rachel, I will be completing my program in 8 days from now. May I know which forms and need for applying PGWP and to extend my OWP. Yes currently Teer 3 and will planning na isabay ko si OWP. Thank you so much!
Can we work more than 20hours per week over the internet for a company in my home country being a student in Canada? If the company does not mind as it is online and part time. Please help answering this. 😊😊
I think the most recent update from IRCC is gonna be exciting for you! 😜💕 international students can now work full-time between Nov 15 to Dec 31, 2022!
How about if you take a 1+1 without gap? Like getting it 1.5 years. Am i entitled for a 3 years pgwp? Thanks!
Are both programs really 1 year in length each? If yes and you’re doing accelerated studies for both, then yes you should get the max PGWP.
hello and good day!"! i have a big doubt! hope you can help me... im thinking in studying a course in a PGWP DLI college but duration is only 20 months!! do you know if i can get the 3 pgwp with this 20 months pgwp program?? or they will give me 20 months??? thanks!
Three yrs
Hi ! I just got done with my college, I haven’t yet applied for my PGWP. But I do have my study permit Valid till December 2023. Can I still work ?
No, you are supposed to stop working when graduate unless you have applied for PGWP.
In order to apply for post graduation work permit do I have to be hired in my specialty before I apply?
No, you just need the graduation letter from the college, which specifies that you are done with school.
@@geraldinecortes5926 Thank you!
@@geraldinecortes5926hi ms geraldine i'm going to ask if you don't have work after you graduate and apply for pgwp will my pgwp still approved?
Hello mam
I have chosen my course delivery option online synchronous which means all my course will be online for the first semester
So my question is that will i be considered to be a full time student during that period? , will it affect my post graduate work permit and while applying for pr?
Please provide me your insights
Thanks!!
I don’t think it counts but better double check
Can i work po while waiting for letter of completion but i already received my transcript
If you haven’t submitted your PGWP application and you’ve already completed your studies, you have to stop working.
More info on your question found here: www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1472&top=15
After getting the transcript and certificate of graduation, is it possible to work for couple weeks and then apply for the PGWP?
don't do that at all. That's the easiest way to sabotage yourself. As soon as you get the transcript, stop working right away until you apply for the PGWP.
@@precious9003 until you apply for pgwp not until you get it?
@@Mido._.0110 yeah. It takes months to get it approved and they recognize that so once you apply, you can start working. Only because you’ll be on an implied status.
Hello my school dont have pgwp and my intake is march 2023 it is possible to transfer school when i arrive in canada ? I want to transfer to the school have pgwp can you help me 🙏 what are the requirements? Thankyou so much hoping for your reply Godbless ❤️

Hi. Do i need to submit an explanation letter that my program is accelerated? I quite worried na ma overlook nila ang info na yun na stated sa completion letter ko😢
Hi Dancel, thank you very much for all your vidoes. Really helpful. Please how can i get in contact with you pls? I need some assistance in securing a place to stay this jan 2023 for my UBC program starting in jan 2023

Hello, I have applied for my pgwp shortly upon end of my courses (end of may) and received confirmation to start working (PGWP-ext) until a certain date.. i still haven’t received my permit and when i call, they just say they are really backlogged… am i still allowed in canada under implied status?
i think you will be able to remain in Canada until a decision is made on your pgwp. I applied in May and got my pgwp last month. Hope you get yours soon
@@qqq5429 thank you! this is nerve wracking.. we applied around the same time so this should mean i probs get mine soon

What are the jobs available on-campus?
Depends on what the school is currently offering! :)
What if during my studies I didn't work? and now I am looking for one. And I only did one program.. Is it possible to get a PR invite even if the PGWP is 1 year only? kase dba kelanga pasok sa NOC eh kaso wala ako nagwork during classes.
Hello po, ano pong sagot dito? Kase yung partner ko na sa Student, di ren sya nag part time. And otw na kame to apply for PGWP, hinde po ba maaapektuhan yung PGWP application? Hinde po ba sya hihingian ng pay stub even though hindi sya employed during studies nya po?
What skilled job did you do?
Admin Assistant job after graduation! I believe it was NOC 1241. Not sure if that’s still a NOC B though with the upcoming changes to the NOC levels 😊
Hi, if it say Yes only, does it mean all programs offer PGWP? :)
Ideally, yes! But aim to look at 2 years or more programs to maximize the PGWP length. 😊
Anything below 6 months is not PGWP-eligible and you’re not getting the most bang for your buck if you only take an 8-month or 1-year program (from experience hehe)
@@rrdancel ok, 2 years for me. Hope it's enough time 😂
Hi. Can I apply for PNP while working in a company under PGWP?
That's def possible if you're eligible! 👌
@@rrdancel thank you ms rrdancel! best regards!
Hi Rachel! As always, this is a great and informative video👍🏻 I would like to ask the difference between PGWP and LMIA?
Thank you very much!
More power to your channel👍🏻
In a nutshell - an LMIA is an employer-specific closed work permit, while a PGWP is an open work permit ☺️
How to apply without IELTS canada
Would you look at that you just read my mind, that’s my next video 😂😜
Hello ms rachel, may ask lang sana ako if I’m still studying tapos may ng offer ng LMIA sa aking okay lang ba tanggapin ko offer tapos aral parin ako.? Pero working visa naba status mam? Mam Rachel salamat sa sagot.
Hi dear, won’t it be possible to work at that job on your PGWP? Since a PGWP is a type of open work permit and doesn’t require your employer to sponsor you to work in Canada after grad?
I am the first here
Happy to see you here 💕😊
Can international students relocate to another province rights after getting PGWP?
Yes
Hello, I would like to share my case with you. I studied one semester at BCIT in Aircraft Maintenance. Is a very hard program and is full time as well.

Hi there,
I just want to know what is the legal status in Canada if applied for PGWP?
I mean what documents we can show as a proof of legal status in Canada in this situation?
If you’ve already applied for one, you have implied status. ☺️
@@rrdancel okay thank you😊
Im Is also. I with my children and owp. Applying PGWP do i need to provide employment letter, fulltime job. teer 3?
You can check out the PGWP eligibility requirements directly from IRCC’s website cic.gc.ca 😊
Just want to clarify lang po kapag po ba mag aapply for PGWP kailangan or isa sa mga requirements is dapat may pay stub si Student? Kase yung SP po na partner ko, plan nya po na hinde mag part time para focus sya sa school nya po at maging okay result. Thanks in advance po
