    Best part of the footage is that Dubov and Nepo were having a great laugh about something just a few seconds before this game started. Nepo had no idea what Dubov had in store for him. Nepo must have been thinking "Come on man, weren't we just friends...?"

    Me in the "pause the video" moment: Hm, the Knight is hanging. I'd just capture it but that doesn't seem very Dubovian. I should probably look for some spectacular, seemingly nonsensical sacrifice

      He can. But.
      With R×f6 would be trading the White queen and the f-pawn for a rook and a bishop. Better for black - not that much, but better. However...
      Nepo would get rook A on the open D-file (threatening Rd8 and win the remaining h-rook) and still would have the F-rook threatening the Black queen, on the semi open f-file, x-raying the Black King. Risky.

    I know i might be missing something thing but, at 7:07 the bishop can capture at F2 with the check, rook captures at F2 and black rook captures queen at D1 with the check. The black queen under threat can maneuver easily!!!!!!
    Someone care to explain pls

    • @HlleyXD
      @HlleyXD 2 роки тому

      I ran it through lichess, and while you can win the queen that way, you get a position of two rooks and two minors vs one queen as black's rook is essentially trapped, leaving white with something like +9 and paralyzing black

    • @GlorifiedTruth
      @GlorifiedTruth 2 роки тому +1

      Stockfish gives White a huge advantage if White plays this. It gives 20.Rxf2 Rxd1+ 21.Rxd1 Qg4 22.Rd7 bxc6 23.Rfxf7+ Kg8 24.Rfe7 Kf8, and the material is pretty close, and White has a winning attack against the Black king. It gives the move played in the game as Black's best.
