      @@joem6023 The use of “just” suggests that the blunder would be insignificant to the outcome if the player was not a GM. That’s not the case. Most blunders result in eventual loss assuming 2 evenly matched players that know how to checkmate. He should have said inaccuracy instead of blunder.

    I was expecting to see his opponent cheat when the title says he plays "in a very solid way". But I don't see any cheating. The 1500 got crushed easily, as you'd expect. His/her moves are totally reasonable at that level.

      GM's get paid from the companies for having these kind of streams of their pages (like chess24) moreover it's not about money but the image as well). So at that point Dubov accepts offers from Amateur players who are members of chess24 in this case (who basically pay). And provide to us watchers an entertainment. The circle goes like this. Everybody earns from it expect the members who pay:D.. Chess grows in general.. people start to play more.. register themselves.. some pay for chess page and chess page pays to GM's.. that's life circle:D

      Because his king is still in the centre, if he took pawn before castle, then this opens the white diagonal to counter attacks with the white queen and bishop, and the position becomes tricky.

      Checked it with an engine, Nxb4 initially is the best move but only -1 for black. However after O-O, Bxh7 Kh8 the position becomes very sharp, Bd3 gives -3 for black. White has to play b5 instead of Bd3.
      I believe Dubov intentionally pursued this sharp line

    Why can't white take H7 at 1.14? Does he just not want to open up the rook to his king? I mean it does look very dangerous for one pawn. I guess the pawn on D4 is in the way of making a massive hole.

      Before taking that pawn, whether it’s h7, a7, h2 or a2, you have to check to make sure your opponent can’t trap it with g6, b6, g3 or b3. Don’t make the same mistake Fischer did against Spassky!
