  • The hymn was composed by Severus Gastorius (1646 - 1682). Several arrangements as cantatas by J. S. Bach are particularly well known. The piece is in F major.
    If you try playing a free bass accordion as a Stradella accordionist, you may suddenly face the problem of having to read the treble and bass clefs simultaneously. That's why I would recommend that beginners on the free bass or converter accordion start by playing slow and simply structured pieces with a bass that runs as smoothly as possible. Church chorales are ideal for this because they can easily divided into learning sections and sound good, even when played very slowly. They offer great practice material that is completely sufficient for the first year in connection with scale exercises for a worthwhile excursion into the world of free bass. Enjoy!

    I always thought that this was an obvious use of free bass accordions but I've never actually seen anyone do it. Nice! Let's see some more.

      Thank You. Yes. It may be a low/intermediate level of play. Maybe that's probably what's missing between low and professional.
