    Gotta say this. I just did the headgaskets on my 2000 outback. Did new timing and water pumo while i was at it.Been dinking around off and on trying to get it to not overheat. Used the bucket funnel, did all the massage the hoses Rev it up etc. Trying to get it burped. Had it down to it only got hot if I stopped, would immediately go back down once moving. Of all the videos I've watched, this is the only one that shows this procedure. I went out and did it today. Have driven the car about 70 miles, left it idling at a convenience store. It's fixed I do believe. Thank you

    Helps to jack the car up in the front as high as possible, also squeeze the bottom and top radiator hoses over and over again after you fill it up almost violently and fast if you know what i mean.💯

    Thankyou for this, do we pull the tube after the engine has warmed up or before?

    Idk, I did this with the engine cold, and when I took the hose off, nothing happened. There was some antifreeze in the hose, but nothing came out of the tube from the throttle body. I have a 2004 Subaru Outback Limited, with 186,000 miles, and the head gaskets were changed at 100,000 miles. and the system is completely filled up with antifreeze. I'm not sure why nothing came outta the tube.
    I had my timing belt, pulleys, and thermostat replaced about a week ago, and I've used the radiator funnel bucket attachment where the radiator cap is, and tried bleeding it that way, but when I go up long steep hills(I live in the Appalachian Mountains), the temp gauge rises 3/4 of the way, but that's the only time I have a problem with it.
    I can push it hard on the highway, for 2 hour drives, doing 80-90 mph, and the temp gauge doesn't move from the middle. But if I go up any kinda steep long hill, then it'll rise.
    Any answers/advice/suggestions would be helpful. Especially as to why nothing comes out when I remove that hose from the throttle body.
    I'm going to put it back together now, and try jacking up the front end as much as I can, then attach the funnel/bucket to the radiator cap, then run the engine (with it on full heat, then revving it between 2-3000 rpm 5 times back to back, 3-5 times,) and try bleeding it that way for 30 minutes and see if that does it. Because I've also heard that That's the only way to properly bleed the system as well.
    I wish Subaru just put a fricken bleeder screw in somewhere. That would make it A LOT easier.
    Thanks in Advance! Your time, and advice, is Very Much Appreciated!!

      Hello, well kind of intrigued, but you guys use antifreeze there, just question because you could have a lot off rust on engine and radiator check for that, sometimes if engine internals have a lot of clearance they will overheat on inclines, another one is if engine is running lean on fuel, did you clean outside off the radiator fins for debris?

      2hen you did it, did you remove the radiator cap? When I did it today nothing happened till I took the cap off.

    • @quicktimesmechanic9980
      @quicktimesmechanic9980  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes you need the cap off to keep putting antifreeze in till it comes off the hose near throttle body

      Hello, get a cheap harbor freight tools infrared thermometer, and corroborate the temperature, if the temperature is accurate, then get a failsafe brand thermostat, you'll be surprised that a lot of thermostats are plain junk...

    Any other ideas if it's still getting hot?
    I have a impreza 1999 2.0 125hp. Today put a new thermostat and coolant on it. Bleed out correctly. Still getting hot.
    For example if I drive 100k at 2000 RPM it's all good, when I drive 80k with 3000 RPM it's getting hot.
    Which leads me to the fact that it can't be the water pump, because then it would overheat on lower rpm prefer to high rpm or I'm wrong?

    • @quicktimesmechanic9980
      @quicktimesmechanic9980  Рік тому

      If your water pump has a plastic inpeler, that could be the problem but. There is no much left to check

      @@quicktimesmechanic9980 nah it's metal on the old once 🙄 I just changed the timing belt and left the water pump alone since I never had bad waterpumps in over 30 subarus 🙈😂

      @@quicktimesmechanic9980 so I can just remove the hose until a solid stream comes out and that’s it. Plug it back on and it’s good to go? I see other videos of completely different ways so that’s why I’m curious maybe I missed something I’ll rewatch the video

    • @quicktimesmechanic9980
      @quicktimesmechanic9980  Рік тому +1

      Yes just wait for the air trapped to come out and about 5 seconds of solid stream and your good, either way make sure that coolant on radiator is completely full and check for proper temp on thermostat operation

      @@quicktimesmechanic9980 ok great thanks a bunch. Are u real knowledgeable with these Subarus? I got an 05 legacy wagon 2.5 limited non turbo manual trans, I just did a motor swap with same type of motor I think the ej253. It’s running like shit. I unplugged the Maf sensor and it runs a lot better. Practically perfect. Does that mean the maf sensor is bad? Also I need to repin a new connector on the driver side upper o2 sensor so as of right now it’s not connected. I have 6 codes as follows: P0051(o2 sensor) p0102(air filter) p0113(iat sensor) p0043(o2 sensor) p2008(intake manifold runner control circuit) c0140(abs CAN communication)

      So motor swap, did you have those problems with the old engine? When you swapped the engine did you used the old wiring harness or the one in the new engine?
