Neve is literally so talented, she always has and always will be!! Skeet was practically made for Billy, he’s just so natural with his role and it’s very believable. Ik that’s how acting works but i’m just like- wow! The casting for this movie was just 10/10
Funny to see Ulrich actually saying his killer lines when rehearsing. I heard they all had no idea who the killer was when filming. I think the cast even made bets through Scream 1-2 filming about who the killer was going to be.
Everybody making Scream 1 knew who the killer was because Scream was not a thing yet, it was just another slasher movie. While making the sequels they decided to not tell anyone who the killer was at first because Scream became popular and the script drafts were leaking on the internet (especially while making Scream 2).
Yeah I found that funny too that skeet is saying his killer lines since no one was supposed to know who the killer was going to be! But I think that only started in Scream 2 when people started leaking the identity of the killer! they decided to save the reading for last just to make it a secret!
It was obviously Billy the whole time... The second film was rewritten several times because of script leaks and not released to the actors until the day of filming
When you compare Justin’s audition to Skeet’s, it becomes very obvious why Skeet won the role. While Justin comes across as very bland, Skeet oozes charisma even in his line reading. The intensity of his eyes and the subtle way his voice suddenly shifts - he was born to play Billy.
At 4:12 just after she said "get out of here", the way she turns, she do that cute gesture so many times in her movies and series. I always noticed. It’s cute
Yeah I think he added a hmm lol. After saying •let’s face it, your mom was no Sharon Stone.” He also added the “you hit me with the phone, dick!” Lol. But because Ulrich really hit him with the phone lol. It totally fit the character though since Stu made him a bit whiny when he was revealed as a killer.
This is like how they recast Marty McCfly after realizing who they got was just wrong for the part. Justin Whalin is too cutsie to be Billy. Ulrich’s always looked like he was up to something. Sure he makes it obvious, rewatching it. With all his glances at Stu whenever he joked about killing someone. I can’t imagine it any other way though. Since him making it obvious is part of the fun while rewatching it. He just is Billy.
I think the reveal would have been more shocking with Justin tho. Then again we are supposed to suspect him all throughout the movie so maybe its better that they got someone who wasnt so innocent.
I like that the other dude who auditioned for Billy had that same 90s hair cut bc now I'm just imagining an auditioning room full of men with a silly little middle part and it's giving me great joy. Skeet Ulrich is amazing tho.
What an amazing casting in this film. I went to see the movie because I was in love with Drew Barrymore at the time. So I was floored when she didn’t make it past the first scene. As was everyone else in the theater. It was such a great choice for Drew to choose to play that part instead of Sydney. Neve Campbell is so good in this film. I can’t imagine anyone other than Neve Campbell playing Sydney….well…maybe Tori Spelling with her luck. Haha 😜
I recently rewatched Scream and her acting really stuck out to me this time. In the finale she portrayed a very naturalistic reaction of disgust, shock, terror and anger all at the same time. I was amazed at her performance and wondered why I never noticed it before and why she hasnt been cast in more stuff since. The 00s shouldve been her decade, what the hell was her agent doing?!
@@sergeantbigmac Watch/Re-watch her in Scream 3. It’s not the greatest movie but she is absolutely outstanding in it. It’s probably her best performance as Sidney.
I was watching an interview with Skeet(and Matthew) from last year and Skeet confirmed he knew he was going to be the killer since he only ever received one script and that was used in the movie. So I assume that everyone else also got that same script so they knew. I think Scream 2 may be the reason why everyone is confusing the who knows who the killer is thing.
Because the first scream only had one Screenplay because Kevin Williamson rented a Motel out in the middle of nowhere desert in Vegas and hammered it out in just 9 days, and people loved it that only minor amounts of dialogue are changed or cut, the rest is as is in the screenplay. It can be read on the Internet Movie Script Database. You can see how little was changed.
In an interview, Skeet said when he got the part of ghost face, he made a room full with gore, cult things, read the books about serial killers and movies and locked himself in that room. Dude’s dedication paid off, he is scary.
I would have LOVED to see Drews screen test as Sidney (if she did one) I'm glad she didn't do the role, but I still wana see what she would have brought to the character of Sidney.
Sadly she never tested. She was helping produce the film and was automatically attached to star but then went on to offer herself as the first girl rather than the final girl. Would be fun to see more behind the scenes stuff like this though!
Skeet and Neve were born to play those roles! I absolutely love both of their audition tapes so much! They always amaze me with their acting skills. Neve and Skeet just click so well. They did a spectacular job on "The Craft" and on "Scream". Hopefully one day I can meet both of them and talk to them. They both seem like angels.🖤🤍
Oww i if didn’t know Justin Whalin auditioned for the role. I recognized him right away because the little thing he got on his face of his haircut he wore back then. And on Lois & Clark series
Neve has always been awesome both in looks and talent. She is smart and plays her roles so well. She has had a wonderful career I hope in her eyes. She has in mine and she deserves it. Hard work is what she gives into it and people only see her looks and characters. I think she as a person is great and I hope she makes more stuff to come. I just watched The Canterville Ghost the other night. Somehow I missed that movie in the 90s. Its nice to find hidden gems like that.
Justin whalin honestly prob would’ve been a really good choice because unlike skeet I think he would’ve been able to come off way less like the killer and he also acts more normal then skeet when it comes to billy he doesn’t look like an obvious killer and it probably would’ve been a much bigger reveal if they casted Justin but it’s also kinda hard cause I love skeet as billy and he did bring the role to life and he is an extremely talented actor but he does take away the whole mystery behind who the killer is and just overall played the role well but I just wish he played it with a bit more mystery
Skeet was perfectly cast. The fact that he looked so much like a killer made his character very iconic. It was designed to contrast against Matthew’s goofy portrayal of Stu. The yin to the yang.
The point is the movie wants you to think they WANT you to think Skeet is the killer, so that you'll try to act smart and assume the movie is misdirecting you, even though it really isn't.
Skeet and Neve worked together on two great teen horrors from the 90s. Scream and The Craft. Both give me great nostalgia.

When he was explaining the motive, skeet’s eyes were so intense! God he IS Billy Loomis
Man did Stu get the right actor Matthew Lillard breathed life into those lines that lady was massacring lol
during auditions the line reader isn't supposed to be reading it with emotion and theatrics they're just there for the actor to play off of
