Don't throw out the strained berries. Add some water and reboil, strain and add sugar to taste for a lovely hot fruity drink. It's my cook's treat after I've finished making jam. Tried this out on brambles and elderberries.

I've just made a load of bramble jam, and also tried making bramble jelly for those who don't like seeds. In my view, trying to make jelly is pointless as it has only half of the flavour and is too sweet. Bramble jam (with the seeds and pulp) yields far more, and tastes much, much, better.
I am, however, intrigued with making blackberry curd, or blackberry whisky....

I hope he thoroughly washed the berries first. I find it takes a good 10 minutes of running water to clear them of everything.

@@dsplodge86 The little hairs and stalks can cause irritation. I prefer my jelly vegan, so without the bugs.

I let them stand for a while so the bugs can escape, then rinse them

So it's a jelly because it doesn't have pieces of fruit in it?

Justa Channel yes and a jam has whole fruit. a lot of people prefer to strain any berries with annoying pips. please take a look at our blackberry jam recipe!
