  • Welcome back to another video. My name is Heidi and I a beauty professional in the industry for 12 plus years now, and I just want to share some knowledge, insight, and proper education on different topics from business, esthetics, cosmetology, and wellness. I want to share what it has been like in the industry the ups and downs and the fun stuff. Also how to steer clear of the oh so wrong methods I see portrayed by non-professionals online.
In this video, we are doing something a little different. I used to do nails before I did skincare, and I love nails. I am also a huge fan of Japanese potted gel systems. They are in my opinion and experience a superior product with less damage to nails. I show you how I remove gel (not potted gel) gently from my nails which a previous nail tech over drilled some ridges into my nails so now I am growing them out to be nice and healthy. I show you how easy and versatile it is to paint your nails even at home.
As always I love it when you all leave a comment; if you are a professional or a beauty junkie such as myself let's talk it up.
    Until next time!
Some products I used in the video:

Omg this was such a great vid. I just had to go to a different tech (and got BIAB) as my usual Japanese gel salon tech was booked out. The new place ATTACKED my nails and cuticles with full force. I want to start doing my own nails to save $$ and avoid damaging them from careless service. This was really well explained, thank you !

Thank you! The only place I can get this done is too far away but I did go once and LOVED it. Off to buy supplies now you’ve showed me how to do it!

I thought the folded part of the nail removal foils was to prevent the aluminium from cutting your skin.
Also I think some nail techs use efiles carelessly around the cuticle area. It takes about six months to grow out damage around the cuticle area, and I don't wanna do that to anyone.

Hey girl, and possibly about the folded part but I've honestly never been cut by any at all. Yes files are intense and not for everyone.

Hiiii! Thank you so much for the video! Japanese potted gels are so so expensive, how long do yours last? They're almost twice as expensive as premium korean bottled polishes. Do you find them worth it and different enough?

For my nail health and easier removal yes to me they are worth but a little goes a long way so it lasts me a long time

I have long natural nails and I'd love to try this but I'm afraid of the damage left behind

Japanese Gel is so nice and thin and doesn't really require any buffing which is where the damage will come from. If anything it might protect the nail better as it grows longer. It is also free of many of the harmful chemicals in most gels. Might be worth the try.

There are a lot of “sand free” Japanese gel options which don’t require you to file off the shine. Most Japanese gel brands also don’t require primers or dehydrators which often make nails weak and brittle.
