Interesting to know really! I honestly didn't read much about the original, and I used the one from the game's trailers. But I need to do some research now hehe.
@OmenAhead The original Sun Wukong theme is called 敢问路在何方?which means "Dare to ask where is the road?" And the answer is "The road is under your feet." But I added a Back to the Future spin on it.
I totally imagine! I'm from Greece and I don't really know much about it, but chinese (and other asian) mythology, culture and music of course, always seemed fascinating to me.

Hopefully it's something close to the genre, but nowadays synthwave is so diverse that it def needs a new name. 😅 But if you happen to like any synthwave/darksynth/cyberpunk, then you came to the right channel! Thanks for the comment!
@@steelyphil4859 Yup. Anyway, I will be posting another Wukong OST cover in a similar style in a few days, and I hope you'll like that too (or any other previous song on my channel)
"Journey to the West" (《西游记》) is indeed another highly popular and frequently rebroadcast television series in China, especially starting from the 1980s. The 1986 TV adaptation of "Journey to the West" became one of the most beloved and iconic Chinese TV shows. Its episodes were repeatedly aired on various channels, making it a significant part of Chinese pop culture. The show, with its mix of fantasy, adventure, and moral lessons, has been deeply ingrained in the memories of multiple generations in China.
In the 80s.... This opening music is most likely on every TV in China and much of S.E Asia... I remember rushing home from School to watch Journey to the West when its available...
Ahh I see! I wasn't actually aware of how big this theme really was when I was making it... I based it on the game's version which is arranged sort of differently, but the original you're talking about is equally epic!
@@OmenAhead Its not big... But huge... Think of it this way... In 1986, when this theme came out with the TV show (Journey to the West) in China... China is still very much a mystery country that very few people visited... As an ethnic Chinese living in S.E Asia... This TV show tells a mythical story that has been passed down through the generation... While all scholars agree its really a Friction novel... Like LotR or Harry Potter... The characters inside the book has been worshipped by the common people till they really attended "Godhood"... With temples for The Monkey King (prayed to for protection from evil), Zhu Bajie (some brothel pray to him to pull in customer), Tang Sanzang, aka The Tang Monk, is considered by some old folks, as the care taker of Hell... who is there to help the lost souls to find their way to salvation... Their temples could be found around S.E Asia Chinese community... Hong Kong and Taiwan...
wow, interesting! Since I grow up with the original version, this is a good transformation I have to say. Frankly speaking some section makes me feel I'm in the space. Definitely you shall watch and listen to the original version at the beginning of 1986 the journey to the west, that music is so classic and perfectly fit to the story and screens...
Thanks for the comment! As a greek guy, I had no idea about it all, but now because of the game I'm doing my research and I find it very inspiring. I'm also doing another Wukong's soundtrack as we speak, so keep an eye for more soon!
The most frequently rebroadcast television program in China starting from the 1980s is "Havoc in Heaven" (《大鬧天宮》). This is an animated film based on the classic novel "Journey to the West," which tells the story of the Monkey King (Sun Wukong) causing chaos in the heavenly palace. Due to its outstanding visual effects and storytelling, it became a classic and was frequently rebroadcast on Chinese television, becoming a cherished part of many Chinese viewers' childhood memories.
Superb! This piece of music is dynamic yet cohesive, perfectly capturing the grandeur of the celestial realms and the arduous, unyielding journey of Wukong. It rivals the Star Wars theme in its epic scale while offering even greater depth and richness.
Oh wow, thanks a lot for the detailed comment! A bit much to compare to the Star Wars theme hehe, but I appreciate it so much. Any like/share/subscribe would help greatly to continue our journey into the celestial realms! 😄
