- Going all the way back to the camera that I used when I switched to video, the Canon R6. This was on 4/14/21, and a few cameras' and tripods' ago.

Real question from a non-surfer. what are the rules of the road? How does the surfer avoid the traffic going back out. Is it just "look where you are going" or is there a convention (like keep right etc?)

The rule is to go back inside the current that is on the sides of the wave and catch the wave where it is biggest in the middle of it. The sea has a circuit, a current that throws out towards the sand, which is the surf, and another that throws it into the sea. When you are already on the surf line, just paddle parallel to the sand in the direction where the wave is strongest and where it will break first. Whoever is best positioned on the wave is the one who has priority to catch it.
