I distinctly remember Nikto being part of my last in-store purchase of vintage Star Wars figures. I got him, the Rancor Keeper, and the Rebo Band boxed set on the same trip to Lionel Kiddie City (a closeout store).
Yes! I still have a Nikkto in very good condition! He was one of my favs in the later toy series. I also remember getting Palpatine through a mail in offer (only know as The Emperor back then) and using the At-AT commander as an AT-ST pilot before I got that one. I also remember the 1984 Star Wars fan club poster that had all the caracters on display in each planet's setting.
I still have my original Kenner 1984 Nikto action figure with his weapon accessory just like my other figures that are still complete with their accessories, clothes, etc. I think I still have the original Kenner card back too along with about 50 other card backs (but not all of the ones I would have originally had). :)
I have all of that for most of my ROTJ figures, but I lost a lot of accessories for the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back figures. I didn't start keeping the card backs until near the end of the Empire run.
Klaatu...Nikto...Barada... It's clear that those Star Wars figure names were chosen as an homage to the Robert Wise movie, 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' (1951) and of course, those names were used again in Sam Raimi's 'Army of Darkness' ('Evil Dead 3'). :)
Cool video! Thank you! This was a great, detailed figure, especially for the time. I had mine up until about 2010, when I got sick of waiting for Hasbro to make him for the modern line, so I took mine apart for pieces, made several attempts at a custom version, and eventually gave up when I realised I couldn't accomplish what I wanted to to make a modern version. And then the TVC version came out two years later. >GRUMBLE
Klatuu Nikto Barada was the robots control code in The Day The Earth Stood Still. As a tribute, return of the Jedi included characters named Klatuu, Nikto, and Barada.
I got Nikto with the Jabba the Hutt Dungeon playset from Sears. I always liked the aliens more than the people and droids. Did you know that Nikto's Skiff Vibro Staff accessory is the exact same accessory that came packaged with the Power of the Force Yak Face figures. The Tri-Logo Yak Face figures didn't come with an accessory. So, people get the Nikto accessory and put it with Yak Face to complete their Yak Face figure.
I had so many figures as a kid. I couldn't get playsets or vehicles very often but I always got a figure weather it was SW, Joe's, MOTU transformers. I really wish someone had stored them away somewhere. They were given to younger local kids after I'd lost interest. I'd love to have just one figure from my childhood. Nikto is maybe my 2nd favorite of jabbas guys. After Gamorrean guard
I had all of them and I put them all together with Java's pal so they were going to make trouble sometimes working with the umpire sometimes working with. Cobra and their nefarious schemes

I wish I could remember the LAST batch I picked up. I still remember the FIRST four!
Interesting facts about the actors in the costumes too. Another great one ☝️
You're a wellspring of valuable information. I must learn more of this Toylanta thing.

I'm not familiar with that poster!!!

Great video on Nikto. Awesome
Thank you for watching!
Great video as always mate
Looks nice. Yet another figure that I wouldn't have appreciated as a kid, but today, would have a place on the bar in the canteen at Mos Eisley
I liked him as a kid, but he didn't see much action since I was nearing the end of my interest in Star Wars figures.

Oooo! I wish I'd known that before making this video!
Fascinating!

I feel like I'm the only person who DIDN'T catch this!

I never had a Gamorrean Guard as a kid. I always wanted one. Now I have two of them :)
@@WeHadThat the only thing star wars I have left from my childhood is his axe. It's my favorite thing in my collection now. I just found it last year.

He could be quite the troublemaker!
Han Solo is my favorite character
