Looks like this video is making its rounds again. Thanks for watching. At the time the truck had around 700 hp and did 0-60 in 3.3 seconds if I remember correctly. This was not its full capability on the street.

Actually to the people below who said no automatic is fast actually when it comes down to it after you build your car an automatic is faster than a stick shift. Stick shift is more fun to drive but automatic is faster when it comes to drag racing

Sai that’s what I’m sayin yeah Isuzu “helped” Chevy manufacture the Duramax. Hell ford let international build their shit and they were some of the sorriest engines to go down in history. I can say I know alota Duramax’s might have injector or fuel pump problems but the motors are pretty stout esp deleted. I’ve driven/owned them all and like them all in different ways but coming from a life long swamp logger real country boys don’t giva shit who builds it as long as it gets the job done.

Dude it's not that rare for a diesel to out run a super car 0-60! It's all about torque. My truck has about 1200 foot of torque and 650 hp I ran a 1/4 mike in 12.3 I have plenty of videos of it...

Sure. I had a stock 2003 Z71 Suburban all I did was a very high lift Comp Cams Thumper Cam with a new chain, push rods, and valve springs. After that it got a new 4 inch crank and I honed the cylinder walls just a hair so it's roughly 3.9 inches. So it's a 6.2 liter now. I used the stock truck intake, put on Pacesetter headers going 3 inch into Dynomax Bullet mufflers out the sides. When the engine was out of the truck though I got some free dyno time from my cousin's shop. And that's it.

Duramax trucks can be deceptively fast. They shift so smoothly that you won't even realize that you're doing almost 90mph in a few seconds because you feel like you're only doing 25-30mph. Every time I drive one of these trucks I have a very hard time keeping it near the speed limit. It just wants to keep going faster and faster just by me resting my foot on the pedal.

My dad has a 05 duramax with bolt ons and it hasent been on a dyno but we think it's around 500whp. I got an 06 gto 6speed and they are 400hp 400lb ft torque stock and I got kooks LT headers, slp 3in loudmouth exhaust, comp cam, and 0-60 my dad stays almost right next to me but after about 60 I walk away from him but for a crew can that weighs twice as much as me it's very impressive. And very fun to drive
Man some people like to roll with with the diesel hating band wagon. First off 0-60 in 3.3s is faster than most cars, a lot faster. So if you hate on this amazing truck because its not manual you're just mad that a big automatic diesel truck can go faster than you. And read the description on some of his videos, he tells you he payed for it himself. anyways, great videos! Keep up the great work and show us more of that beast!
I got my power from a cam swap and a stroker crank. Got free dyno time from my cousin's shop. My biggest beef with gas though is unlike diesel trucks the rest of the truck after the engine especially in the 1/2 tons is weak. I had to sink pretty pennies and a few head aches doing a 4L80E swap and rebuilding my front and rear end just so they wouldn't break.
You gotta love Diesels. My 03 Suburban gulps insane amounts of gas to get 640 horsepower out of it and i'd still probably lose to your truck.

Stock lbz is 360hp 650ft lbs at the crank. Efi alone can get this to 450rwhp and 800ish ft lbs. This thing, and I'm just guessing here, with twins and a dipper plus tuning...6-650hp, and that's low balling it. I would LOVE to take a ride in this beast. Must have plans to build the motor... :)

I have a moderate build (twins are in the future) and get 24mpg average while making 580HP 920lbs-ft. Spent WAY less than when I built my 6.0 in my Denali to get these numbers.
