Honestly, that's more of a question for a marriage counselor. I'm not married, but from what I've seen in the lives of my parents and older friends who have had long, successful marriages, I think that 'spiciness' may not be the thing to look for: what's going to make your relationship work is to continue to be committed and remember why you love each other. The idea of 'spiciness' to my ears communicates that they're looking for something that's going to make them feel good, but feelings come and go and I'm not sure if that's what love is really about. Like, its part of love, but love is about a deep, genuine dedication to the other person's well-being, appreciating them for who they are, which includes but is not limited to just how they make you feel. If your relationship is dependent only how good they make you feel, are you really loving _them_ or yourself?

The guys mistake was including “spicy” in his question. It threw everyone off bc it seemed like he was searching for sex advice. Next time he can ask something like “how do you maintain a joyful, loving marriage? How do you stay in love? How do you ensure your dedication to each other continues through the tough times?” That would’ve gotten him the answers he was looking for. He aimed for being funny instead of being true to what he wanted. Either way, I’m sure his marriage will be okay without the advice of celebs

Going on 12 years here, I think flirting and making time to connect is number 1. Put the phones down.
He recommends cinnamon because it contains zinc. Consuming cinnamon increases blood flow and can turn you on. Some say it’s an aphrodisiac. His suggestion was subtle.

@Karl with a K Salt is not a spice because it doesn’t come from a plant. It’s an organic mineral. Spices come from plants. That’s why they are what they are. Besides, if no one considers pepper a spice, then what was all the pillaging for?

It hasn't been the "7 year itch" in many years, its now the "4 year glitch". I remember reading up on this years ago. A lot of couples usually break up at the 4 year mark.
Just got engaged to my gf of 12 years and I also think making each other laugh is crucial to a long and happy relationship and hope we are able to make each other laugh for decades to come. I'll admit that Conan's comment about making his wife laugh reminded me of what Nikki Glaser once said about women thinking men with a good sense of humor make them laugh, while men think women with a good sense of humor are ones that laugh at their jokes but are not necessarily funny themselves. Having listened to Liza on Conan's podcasts, though, it seems like she has a great sense of humor that Conan appreciates and that is a contributing factor to them being happy together (at least in the public eye, I don't know them personally). 😅

Yup, great advice. My grandparents have been married for like 50+ yrs. They made each other laugh all the time. Laughter is truly the best medicine - - and spice, i guess. 😅😂

Better advice would be: If you aren't 100% sure, don't get married.
"Legally, she could take it all away and leave", kind of frightening honesty about men being left with nothing and women being left with everything after divorce.
