It wasn't plumb, Hawkeye got it wrong and didn't see it hit the front pad
@Pavan Kumar O Tea is right, Hawkeye is not 100% accurate and this was one of the occasions when it was wrong, that's why there is a slight curve on the projected line between the impact of the ball and the stumps on the Hawkeye image.
The reason is that Hawkeye sometimes misses the first impact when the ball hits two things very quickly in succession. Here the ball hit the front AND back pads of Stokes but Hawkeye showed the projected line to the stumps only from the 2nd impact (the back pad). If it had shown the line from the 1st impact on the front pad it would either have missed or been umpire's call so in this case Hawkeye got it wrong.
@Pavan Kumar Where's the joke? This is a known fault of the Hawkeye software which has been proven in testing and has been shown to happen on many occasions. How do you explain the curved trajectory of the projected image if you believe it to be correct? I won't insult a whole country and will assume it's just you who are ignorant to the truth in order to serve your needs.
Jingle Ma you’re talking nonsense. Hawkeye is known to have a deviation of plus or minus 5mm. Hence the reason why more than half a ball’s width is required to overturn a decision. The curved nature of the graphic is because it’s a 3 dimensional representation of a data line.

Did you see the last test match of border gavaskar trophy which was played in T20 mode and test mode in both. 100 was required from 120 at a point and then 50 of 42 but it was chased down...wickets didn't fall easily in 1st session of last day of Gabba pitch and that was key....and in starc's one over 20 runs were made...and the test match at Gabba was won after 32 years..
