    Broderick did a good job of finishing run blocks on many of our carries, while his pass pro was terrible too often. Thank goodness that failures help us learn and improve more. Still have faith in the big boy. The double Big Macs were excellent for the most part, and our left side was very solid. Proud of that OL unit even though Russ had little time to throw many times. And with that effective Jets pass rush, Russell still mananged to get off some very athletic throws.
    Love seeing the TE's more involved. Passes hung a little on Wash to his detriment on a couple catches, but man when he gets a head of steam, just like Muth and Naj, it's so much fun.
    Naj still not getting love from Steelers fans becaue they're more interested in being correct than being fans. Dude is special and I love that we are getting Naj in his prime. Love him whether he gets 1 yard of 50 on a play.

    Got to love the energy of our players during and after that game. Lots of people knock the positivity Russ exudes but the results are apparent. A few notes; Darnell Washington finally being utilized as I pictured, 4 catches on 4 targets and after his first two catches it drew the LB into his short zone area which opened up Muth who's often bracketed between a LB and Safety. Nice to see the OL mix in some power/gap scheme and were successful using it. We will need to draft two WR's in 2025 and after we get a premium 6-2 or bigger deep threat, I'm still high on Jaylin Noel as a 4th or 5th round addition who can take the top off the defense. Noel now has 37 recs, 681yds, 3TD's in a Cyclones offense that's similar to ours.

    I’m pumped we’ve scored 30 in back to back weeks. This team is spoiling us! I wasn’t huge on the team starting Russ like many of us, but it looks like it’s a good thing Tomlin is making our decision and not any of us. Get us a second WR that Russ can throw to and this can be a team that can make some noise. Let’s go into the bye week at 6-2

    If we have another good game against the Giants, then a scary decision is going to arise. To have potentially two somewhat solid qb’s even for how cheap they were to acquire is actually insane. I pegged us at the first under 500 this year at 6/7 wins and we already got 5 of them. Beating the Browns alone the two times we face them would get us there. This game was a great watch!

    DB I've seen a lot of people online saying that Arthur opened open the playbook for Russ and the play calling was way different. Is there any validity to this? I know there were no designed QB runs and less RPO's but was it actually a play call difference or Russ executing? Thanks!

Just watch his pass blocking giving Russ extra time then being that safety valve on that check down and break dbs down for a 1st. Still need a wr 2 across from Pickens who can get open. They all said that Russ wouldn’t be able to do it behind our offensive line. They said Justin Fields was this team savior. The team is good with or without just fields. with or without Russell Wilson. You could even put Mason Rudolph back there or Kenny Pickett. As long as you have TJ.

      @paladin1726 2 місяці тому

      But Russ will throw the ball when it needs to be thrown. They both have great attributes but you can live without the QB runs. You can't live without the passing unless your AFC Championship opponent is Cleveland.

      @@oshae248 yeah that kind of happens when you’re playing your first regular season game in a year. And if you have good receivers, those underthrown passes will be caught. But he still made the reads and threw on time. In cases where the DB has great coverage, underthrowing is often a good thing. Silly nitpick.

    • @paladin1726
      @paladin1726 2 місяці тому

      @@jtfike Agreed, if the defender who isn't watching the ball because he's working to get on GP's hip suddently knows exactly where the ball is going to drop and turns around at the right time, he will fight of GP and get the pick, and GP won't have any chance to catch it or break it up.
      And by the same token, if every other defensive player in the NFL knows exactly where a ball is going to land, then every pass would be intercepted. What a stupid argument.
      By your own "No excuses" comment, a back shoulder throw should never count. T
      You haven't learned enough about football to know when a receiver is open and when he isn't based solely on what the defender is doing.
      But I agree with you on your final "no excuses" point: If Steelers receivers don't catch passes, then Russell's yards are similar to Fields. I'll even defend your point even more. If Fields throws passes that he should throw instead of the times he unnecessarily scrambles, he would have yardage totals closer to Russell Wilson. And he wouldn't have lost his starting job.
      Excellent points.

    I am hoping you will do an honest look at Russ performance. We should enjoy the win and great job Russ. But if you review this performance with the same level of critique others have looked at Fields, Russ will need to get better. You cannot live on 50/50 balls that are under thrown. All teams would just do that. You saw as many balls in the dirt. What % passes did he complete 55%? This jets team looked disengaged and they were depleted in secondary. I am not saying sit Russ, let’s see what he does but just saying we should look at this more objectively then I am hearing and I know you will. Saying that, something to build on and hopefully Fields is tacking notes so when he gets back in he can take some of the positives Russ did display. Just really worry about Russ, his arm underwhelmed if we look honestly we will see people open the next team you would think is going to put a safety over top. The two catches by Pat, the one by the other two receivers is not a receive like we are making it sound. Saying that run game is showing real improvement and the d will get better as people get healthy.
