Hi Sweeties
Welcome back to my UA-cam Channel.
This video is a continuation of my living in Kenya series. A few days before my sister left we went on a guided tour to Wasini island. Although we had a good time we got so cold because of the rain. We really wish it was warmer but we made the best out of the situation.
Please comment down below where you're watching from in the world 🌍 and show us some ❤️ by liking, commenting, and sharing!

So I realised I didn’t share the price. It cost us about 18 000 KES for the both of us. (About 9k per person). This price is inclusive of transportation from Mombasa to Shimoni and back, boat ride, private tour guide, lunch, snorkelling (it was cold so we decided against it), underwater photography. If you’re lucky you’ll also see the dolphins. It’s half the price for Kenyan citizens (4500). One thing I don’t like about Kenya is the different pricing for tourist activities here but that’s a debate for another day chile. If you’re interested reach out to Amigo travels on IG (linked in description).
The pricing is to encourage locals to visit.if it was expensive few locals will attend
@@davinmuhahala6887 There is also aspect of taxation. The assumption is that if you are local/resident, then your tax money has been funding conservation efforts.
Thats fair, You were charged lical prices 💯
Maybe pricing for Africans should be like the locals
I love this. Africans visiting other African countries

Heeeey you got yourselfa new suscriber
Thanks for watching ✨🙏🏾
"Jambo" is a tourist word. You would say "Hujambo" and the other party would respond"Sijambo".
Yeah. People don’t usually use Jambo. 🤣 clearly she’s watched a lot of movies
If you want to sound local, say Mambo, not Jambo. Jambo is too formal.
Ow okay. Thanks for letting me know 🙏🏾
@@AnathiTshabe also people use "Sasa" and probably you heard people reply, "fit." More of a slang street language. Kiswahili language greetings vary based on the age of those you interact with. For instance. Senior citizens or most people above 50 years you will greet them like, "Shikamoo..., reply... Marahaba." Your age group(Marika) you say, Hujambo? Sijambo for the reply. Your buddies is more like Mambo? Or sasa? Reply is fit. And for those below your age is more like "habari gani? Reply is nzuri sana.
Thanks for sharing the video, am watching from New, USA and you have made me homesick. "Ustie shaka. Hakuna matata, jivinjari." Kiswahili meaning, don't worry, no problems or worries, enjoy yourself.
This was a very interesting trip .... you guys did your best ... despite the weather.... I enjoyed the vlog regarding the price am shocked ... I paid 3900 anyway maybe things have changed with the fuel increment
Yeah. It’s cheaper for locals unfortunately 💔
Sorry about the pricing I think its a thing in the coast towns to charge tourists a Lil bit more but in Nairobi for the most part the pricing is the same for locals and tourists
In the tourists spots like at the National park, Animal orphanage, Giraffe center etc.. pricing is different for locals (East Africans) and for non locals... However if you are suave enough you can pretend to be a local and pay local rates like Tayo Aina did in I think Giraffe center... He pretended to have forgotten his ID and someone told him what to say in Swahili
This was awesome
Thank you for watching 🙏🏾✨
Yeah terrible time of the year…. But you enjoy what you a given 😅
atleast you two are great company and experience this together. Definitely should do it on a good day… I think the weather is starting to clear out?
Yeah I definitely will. Thanks for watching ✨🙏🏾
you guys a looking very pretty😘😘
It's called Shimoni because of the underground caves that were used to hide slaves before they were loaded into boats heading to the main slave market in Zanzibar... Shimo is swahili for hole.. so Shimoni means "In the hole"
Ow wow. I had no idea, thank you for letting me know. I remember the guide telling us about the caves and slaves in the town.
@@AnathiTshabe yep! You could have visited the caves, they are just before where you get the boat to Wasini… some chains still there..
Wow guys
Am happy for you
Thank you for watching 🙏🏾✨

Thanks for bringing this up. I’ll post a comment soon and pin on top regarding the price.
i made it 2k😁😁😁What a milestone
Thank you
About the issue of different pricing, I think it is okay because they majorly factor your spending power, which they think (wrongly or right) is more superior if you come from outside of Kenya. But, I think for tourists from different African countries, it should be relatively the same to what locals pay.
Totally agree. If you come to SA we don’t have different pricing for locals and tourists
They are forgetting we Kenyans have to pay visa when going to South Africa. So let's the price be Different it's okay with that.
South Africa charges us visa while they come here visa free. They are not saints
Besides SA there are still other African countries these price differences affect. All I’m saying is that it doesn’t encourage more tourism and actually does the exact opposite.
@@AnathiTshabe Bythe way we don't depend on South Africans for our Tourism.Infact they would have charged you More,So that you Stop coming. We have our Big brothers Nigerians who Love our Country n less Complains.
Try to visit watamu
I definitely will. Thanks for watching ✨🙏🏾

My favourite Kiswahili word is kidogo meaning just a little/just a bit or small depending on context. My 2 year old nephew likes the word ananichekesha meaning someone is making me laugh..i think he likes to say it because of how it sounds and he is proud of himself for being able to pronounce a somewhat difficult word for that age. He seems to acknowledge it is not an easy word..so when he says it he gives that look of..did you hear what I just said with a tinge of pride.
I love kidogo too. I also use it quite often. I was so shocked when I heard it because I thought it had something to do with a “dog”, imagine my surprise. 🤣

How's chapati with seaweed? Wajackoya would probably recommend smoking weed and eating chapati. 😂😂😂
🤣🤣 it tastes okay but better with the chilli. The chapati was also freshly made 👌🏾
You have even infected your twin with the same appetite, 😂🤣 you funny
🤣🤣🤣🤩
Why is she smelling your armpit? 😂. I think what you call armpit in your language is similar to kiswahili ~ kwapa
Chile… good question. There’s so many similarities in Swahili and IsiXhosa, crazy
And then a few misinformed people want yo shout how Kiswahili is Arabic. Kiswahili is a Coastal Bantu language with some traces of Arabic, German, Portuguese etc due to trade and intermarriage to take away its Kenyan roots from the Coastal people especially Lamu where the first Swahili people settled. People often forget the Coastal Bantu inhabited the Indian Ocean coastline before the the Arabs, Portuguese and British etc ever did in their conquests.
@@esem135 preach please..people need to be informed.
