    Good guy, great musician. I wonder how long it took him to work out the rhythm between the vocal and the opening piano riff. Guys like him don't come around very often, rest in peace.

    This was just fantastic! Loved seeing the older, yet forever boyish Andrew Gold.
    Ashamed to say that even though I had probably heard him untold times throughout my life (I was born in 1957!), I had never heard OF him until last year. The documentary on Linda Ronstadt released last September launched me on a nostalgic journey into the music of my era that I only casually enjoyed back in the day. Bought the greatest hits albums and sang along to the Billboard chart toppers as I cruised around town in my parents' green Chevy Impala. Didn't go to concerts or read the liner notes. With Ms. Ronstadt's memoir in one hand and my cell phone in the other, have watched about every UA-cam video on her that was available. I soon became accustomed to seeing Ms. Ronstadt bookended by Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards. Although Ms. Ronstadt's enormous talent as a singer had already established her as a real presence in the music world of the late 60's/ early 70's, and her constant touring certainly helped her hone her singing skills and develop her ability to communicate with her band, I think it was the extraordinary talent of Andrew Gold as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter coupled with the savvy and thoughtful management of Peter Asher that provided Ms. Ronstadt with the collaborators she needed to see her gift come to full flower in "Heart Like a Wheel" and subsequent albums.
    My UA-cam searches now include Andrew Gold; a CD of one of his live performances was recently purchased and enjoyed.
    My only critique of the wonderful documentary about Ms. Ronstadt's illustrious career was the omission of a mention of Andrew Gold and his contribution to her phenomenal success in the 70's. Had he lived, he would've been one of the "talking heads" in the film singing her praises. My consolation is I now have "the sound of his voice" to keep me company for the rest of my life.

    • @bsquared4604
      @bsquared4604 3 роки тому +2

      i noticed that too. i found it odd that he wasn't mentioned in the documentary although i'm pretty sure i saw him in a clip.

    • @lnl3237
      @lnl3237 3 роки тому +1

      @@bsquared4604 Definitely seen in the film. I really think it was an oversight as Ms. Ronstadt is notoriously humble about her talent and profuse in her praise of her fellow artists and musicians.

    I don't know if he may have been still playing guitar for Linda Ronstadt in her 1977 Blue Bayou Tour .
    I went to it at the Superdome...I think it was in August or October 1977...the warm-up acts were Stephen Bishop (he opened with 'Save it for a Rainy Day') and Willie Nelson (that was the third time I saw him as a warmup act..another time was Kenny Rogers at the Dome in 1984, on a Sunday night in October when the Saints and Kenny Stabler blew a 3-touchown lead in Dallas to lose in OT 30-27..the last two Dallas TD's on consecutive sack-fumbles in the endzone...
    Stabler rented a car at the Dallas airport and drove home to Gulf Shores in an immediate re-retirement...

    I always loved the original version so for the few who said that this one was either fantastic or powerful listen to that one and you'll quickly forget all about this one. As for this recording it was somewhat okay for a while until the guitar player completely blew and ruined the solo. The original version with guitarist Waddy Wachtel was the very best!
