For governments I can't say but for a common Frenchman like me I have a lot of friendship for the Indian people.
LOL In geopolitical terms, Indian geo political enthusiasts consider France to be it's new Russia because France is very pragmatic country and have used VETO to safeguard India's interest.... India buy more weaponry from France than USA just because France is a reliable partner unlike USA who do follow transactional relationship model....
Now please make a little video on portuguese and british colonies in china. Thank you!
That would be interesting.
Their colonization in China left nothing except the influence of language... There are also historical buildings during the Concession period.
@@MurmureL-oy3wl They have also left religion, customs, food, dressing etc,. in addition to those you mentioned. I saw them.
@@neilmanx1001 China was never a western colony unlike india. So they didn't have much of a colony in China except some tiny ports.
@@JHenry906 Only a matter time before a chinese fella appears to brag about colonies and colonialism while using western names, copying western habits and technology, building western theme parks all over the country and clicking selfies infront of them!

the French Empire was a real Empire.
Vow I have lived in this state for few years. A small state with few streets. You will see this Rue Rue everywhere.
"rue rue"😂
French converted many Indian to Christianity in Pondecherry
How many years did French rule in India?

The time span for the French presence in India is very long: nearly three centuries from 1674 to 1954.
ChandanNagar was also most important French colonial rule in india
Sadly, the town is losing it's unique Indo-French heritage and culture to mindless commercialization..
The French influence worldwide is decreasing due to globalization where English is the primary language and US/UK is the dominant cultural influence. You will see the same pattern even in Canada/Quebec.
Well, there's my learning for the day. Never knew the French had colonies in India.
Why so many bots in comments? Where are the real humans?
Puducherry / Pondicherry is a nice beach town. On the otherside of Indian peninsula there is Kochi, also has beautiful Dutch, Portuguese colonial architecture and a Jew town too.
They are China's information warfare army. Chinese use them for spreading propaganda or influencing people from other countries.

It's like Shanghai's Former French Concession, the most treasured part of Shanghai. Every weekend, Wukang Rd. (武康路) is packed with tourists who want to experience a bit of that old French charm.
The French Concession is a result of colonization, not something to be proud of.
@@tonywang4032 Proud or not, people love it!
@@tonywang4032 No you see what we see. It was a bit of surprise seeing this from SCMP. But i understood perfectly what they are doing!!
@@tonywang4032 Not really - a concession is a free trade zone with very limited autonomy and not a sovereign land. The French didn't colonize China, in fact nobody did, neither in area nor in time though unfair treaties were forced on the Qing. Shanghai has always been a world city with fascinating history visible in its architecture. Without foreign trade/concessions, it would have been a fishing village. Hangzhou/Suzhou were the big cities in the area.
its really beautiful..I always felt he beauty of india in the beauty of east meets west
So why did the French treat the Indians with respect and dignity, but they treated the Vietnamese like garbage?
We treat the indians and the vietnameese as same, except that Vietnam has became Communist
Because of the British, the enemy of both India and France at that time .
because they want to make case for themselves as they were better than british
because "enemy of my enemy is my friend"
Puducherry is a teritorry used for trading with India where as Vietnam is a colony (used for looting).
I love Pondicherry ❤
Cultural influences are influences for south india whether its coming from north india or French.
But I guess french would be preferred over it as it seems decent, civil and less goon culture.
Only fools like you would call Indian culture less decent.
What can we say? Somebody, somewhere, will always find a reason to put a group of people above some other group of people based on their own cherrypicked reasons.
😂😂. Politicians in southern india has made their people feel that they're somehow superior than the rest of the Indians.

Nostalgia by the Colonials you mean. The city is very pretty and interesting to contrast with British occupied Tamil Nadu. A disgrace that this French enclave wasn't handed over to India until 1954. The French tend to impose their culture and language on their territorities. In some places, they still haven't let go, New Caledonia and French Guyana. The British crime of partition of the subcontinent will always outway French colonial tyranny

Can´t there be two words to express the same thing? It´s called dialects. Different regions have different words for the same thing. We hould appreciate linguistic diversity and not try to eradicate all dialects for one standard language.
