    Thanks for standing up for us traditional wives. I was married 40 years (my husband recently passed away:( ) I use to get a lot of flack from people saying I set feminism back 100 years lol. I love these points! I would add, though, that unless you are independently wealthy or only plan to marry a wealthy man, learning how to be frugal and how to keep to a budget are important skills. Raising a family on a single income requires discipline and thought. And having these skills and this mindset before getting married will be so helpful to keep conflict and stress out of your home and marriage 🥰

    • @annemumford9459
      @annemumford9459 Рік тому +26

      I would also add acquiring basic food preservation skills. Part of being frugal is aiming for as close to zero food waste as possible. Grow a garden if possible. Get a pressure canner - All American is the very best because it doesn't have a gasket that will need replacing. Get a steam canner. Rose Red Homestead and Fy Nyth have useful info on those. Bexar Prepper has put out phenomenal videos, as well as Sutton's Daze. Harvest Gaurd and Tattler make reusable canning lids. Even if you can't grow a garden, being able to take advantage of sales and preserving long-term will save money. Since we're empty nesters, I can a lot of stuff in half pint jars, including meat. Process same as for pints. Basic mending goes a long way. How many clothing items are thrown out or donated because of missing buttons, small tears and holes, etc. Learn to cook simple meals from scratch. As far as I'm concerned, the words microwave and cooking are polar opposites. I have a small vintage/antique cookbook collection . The portion sizes are more in line with a healthy size, and the ingredients are simple, not exotic. Wartime cookbooks are great, but my oldest ones are from the 1800's. Finally, recognize the difference between needs and wants.

      @@annemumford9459 absolutely! Personally, I may also add that gardening and growing your own food may be a good skill to learn, but I know not everyone is in a life situation (i.e. Apartments, small yards, condos, townhouses, etc) to do that. However, if you have the space and climate, it’s a wonderful addition to the basic chores of a housewife! I love it. Harvesting a whole summers worth of garlic in just a few weeks 😍

    • @annemumford9459
      @annemumford9459 Рік тому +2

      @The Housewife Homelife The living situations for everyone are different, that's true. But even if you have a sunny window, you can grow leaf lettuce, some radishes, and finger onions, and maybe a cherry tomato plant for salads. There is a variety called Everglades that produces a ton. Or get a small growing rack with lights. The way prices are, it would probably pay for itself just in gas cost alone. And when there's another lockdown, at least you would have a little fresh food in the house. Also, frozen veges can be canned. All the prep work of washing, peeling, shucking, shelling, chopping, and blanching have already been done. I would imagine if you go to a Sam's club, or a restaurant supply store, really big bags are available. These can be dehydrated also. And even if you get the smallest All American canner, it witt still do 4 quarts and 6 pints. (The book says seven, but I only managed that when I used my taller, slimmer antique jars.) A pint will hold a pound of meat, and that's what most recipes call for. Now the meat is all ready done for 6 meals, and there's more room in the freezer.

      I think a lot of women are actually scared to be dependend too much, because of what she said. There are just too many stories of men abusing the power they have over a women financially. Or cheating on her, divorce, being out of a job for too long and basically living in poverty after that at least for a long time if not for the rest of your life. I'm technically a progressive woman. But not because of "feminism", but because there are too many stories of my parents and grandparents generation where the traditional roles went wrong.
      There are many loving and caring women who work existing. Some would probably go parttime to take care of the household and cook. But it's just too risky to stop working completly. You never know what the future holds and if it's not good, then you hopefully aren't out of your job for 10 years already.

    I went to university and had a great job that paid 9 times more than the average salary and it was terrifying for me to let go of it and be dependent on my husband. But, as time went on, he has proven to me how much he loves me and that he would never leave me, so I was finally able to let go of my fear and get rid if my anxiety. The best decision of my life.

      We young women actually grow up and get socialized with the idea of marriage and children and that’s great. But my friends and I all had bad experiences, being a stay at home wife and we actually loved it but We constantly felt like walking on eggshells with our husbands to avoid them getting angry, especially during pregnancy, where it’s natural to get exhausted and tired and to need help. But they were expecting it regardless and wether you’re a man or a woman I think it’s important to set boundaries too and be understanding of each other, without being accused of not acting like a wife is supposed to act or be. It was a purely transactional relationship to our husbands and they did not build any connection with the children because they’d rather watch baseball. One of our friends still worked part time in a community college and they’re many divorced women from abusive households that decided college is the best option to avoid homelessness, because as a stay at home wife before they didn’t work or get any savings. Some of us devoted ourselves to our house and the children with big hopes that got crushed. As long as we were compliant, the men were nice to us. If you have a respectful and understanding and sensitive husband, traditional life is perfect. Otherwise it’s terrible and one of the most damaging things that can happen to you. I also think a traditional women should also still be allowed to have hobbies, get supported with chores when she’s seriously tired or injured, otherwise it has been proven by studies over and over how damaging it is and not only the wife will suffer but the husband from the way the wife feels.

    It’s soooooo refreshing to see a woman who embraces a traditional role lifestyle with grace and joy. Soo inspiring. I have never been married, but my dream has always been to be a homemaker, marry a man after Gods heart and love him well and raise children in the wisdom of the LORD! Cooking and cleaning and beautifying the home and building a life with someone and being the one to teach and train and raise my own children is my dream. The fact that someone is unabashed to stand up for the old ways and traditions is beyond encouraging! I’ve been criticized for not wanting more for myself, like a career, or to be an independent woman with my own money and my own house and my own life. But none of that has ever brought a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction. The trad wife is what I know was places in my heart by my creator. Gods richest blessing to you and your household. I pray I find this one day too!

    I've been saving myself for marriage, and had to experience the whole "fast-paced-city-work cycle" for years until finally admitting to myself that being a tradwife (and mother who will homeschool) while living out in the countryside is truly what my heart desires. I used to be friends with women who had a very negative, depressed, anxious and promiscuous mindset - releasing those people from my life has been a blessing.
    Now, I cherish the women in my life who carry more traditional values and positive/healthy mindset, as I have realized how valuable my own energy is. I also no longer feel shame for wanting to submit to my future husband, or for desiring a monogamous commitment.

      I was raised to be a worker and to suppress my femininity. To seek validation and worth through a job. Not taught any caretaking. Working in tech to try to support myself. It was so empty. I became incredibly ill and had to give up career, apartment to live and depend on my elderly parents. Now I’m 35 and have no idea what to do except try to be patient and keep improving myself and try to trust it will come. Some days it feels very hard to value myself. My family resents me for being dependent on them and taking their money while I’m ill. I went into debt to try to last as long as I could before costing them more. My father screamed at me and said I’m not doing enough. He hovers over me insulting me and looking for any mistake. My mom was the breadwinner and my family tells me I’ll never be suitable for children since I was ill. It’s heartbreaking at times but I hope to never give up, to get out and have my own family one day despite my family influence and lack of upbringing.
      I see my nieces every day nearly but they are largely gate kept by their parents unless no one else is around. I helped take care of my family during lockdown and cooked for 7 but after awhile my mom wanted that role (out of jealousy) and pushed me out. I get zero recognition for any effort or caretaking role and my family will eat together regularly without me, especially to honor my parents as caretakers for my nieces. Sometimes while I was bedridden hungry and alone they would all just disappear together to go out to eat as if I didn’t exist at all.
      I know it’s probably for the best I stay away from from their behavior but it’s very lonely and hard. I try to just take the times when they do remember me and are more kind and stay away when otherwise. I decided to re-parent myself and learn to be caretaker as much as I can for past 6 years, but I still feel like 4/10 often and afraid to find loving husband with traditional roles but I try anyway and to be patient always.❤

      Feminism is often very misunderstood. Most women are not extremists, they are standing up for themselves to be treated equally. This is taken out of context so often. Wages are still lower for women then they are for men, and this isn't right, as long as it's equal work. Sexism, racism, and classicism are all inequitable. This is not what the United States was created for, or why our ancestors left oppressive England.

    • @SoRight8
      @SoRight8 Рік тому +2

      @@kane3215 over the years I went to church for the longest time (mostly women and married couples there) and also tried to date online off and on. Most of the guys were married though or were not serious about an LTR.
      Went to school and worked a corporate job. Mostly women at work however. Met one guy in college, but he later ran off with a younger girl (he also went woke...decided he was "polyamorous"). The one guy I dated at work turned out to be an alcoholic...so I had to end that relatiinship.
      Most of my friends were already married. Hated the club scene, so never went out much. Spent a lot of time at coffee shops though. I would also say community based activities could be promising.
      Highschool had a lot of good guys, but I for some reason thought there would be more options after that. If I could do it differently, with the brain I have now, I would have dated more then.
      So best advice is to get out more and not stay at home. Since you're a guy, don't be afraid to date younger or same age or even a little older to find a girl with the right values. Expand your friend circle (don't be shy) as they are the best avenue for dates too.
      Best advice? Never listen to friends or family when they say it will eventually come....often it never does. It would be better to pursue dating/courtship aggressively, as if you only had a year left to do it. Don't wait around on anyone.
      Hope that helps.

      I was the same in high school too, some girls were interested in me, but I couldn't see myself with them long term so I decided not to get with them, but I wasn't smart enough at the time to try pursue the girls who would've been great in the future, and now I'm 21 with no relationship experience at all.
      I also don't enjoy clubs, but I do go out and drink with friends, mostly only see guys where we go though.
      Book/coffee shops could be an interesting idea, I just don't know how people will react to someone coming up to them. Personally I'd be happy with it, but I'm not every person.
      Online dating is something I was hoping I wouldn't have to try, but I suppose it could be worth giving a go, as long as I set my values correctly and go after women who think the same as I do. I think I'm fairly good looking and in shape, but since guys:girls is so high, I'd be worried I'd only get swiped past if they saw I was 5'8, thinking there's way better looking folk out there.

      Yes I think this is what truly keeps women away from being in traditional roles in the relationship. The fear of a abusive partner . That’s why feminism started talking about the dangers, not that you shouldn’t be a traditional wife and many take this out of context. All people see is “feminism advocates for women prioritizing career” but they don’t read why this can be important for her safety too. Often you see even the most traditional fathers say “I want you to make your own money so you don’t have to rely on a man.” Or some women just have a different purpose. Even the Bible says you can get a different purpose from god apart from marriage and children. (Apostle Paul, Deborah, Rahab, Lydia, Jesus himself)

    Thank you for posting videos like this. In a world where gender roles are so mixed up, it's so refreshing to see someone being a role model for how women should be

    I really disagree with your number 5 point. If you find yourself the right person, it won't matter for them. I have a friend who's also a stay at home wife/mom, she went through major depression after having a child to the point she didn't even shower herself - and her husband never left her side, even when she wasn't pretty and kept well. He even helped her clean herself, change her clothes, and feed her. It lasted couple years. She said for what he did for her, she will never leave the side of this man. That is what true love is about. If you have to worry about your man leaving your because they're visual, just imagine what would happen if that scenario happened to you? Or if you got cancer or other illness, lost your hair, and wasn't "visually attractive enough" for him anymore? And men leaving for such stupid reason is more common that you imagine - which is especially scary if you're a stay at home, without own income or current work experience.

    Agreed. And to the critics, no, earning supplemental income doesn't keep someone from being a tradwife so long as she's taking care of the home as her top priority.

    God bless you and your family, the naysayers are just people who are unhappy with their lives without God, family and country.
