As a scuba instructor myself, i would say that even with all the preparations with technical stuff, this is truly a dangerous project. Dcs, dci, narco, freezing temp, all related with compressed air could be fatal but seeing how safety measurement being taken(by Sam's narration), this is a truly well executed project, if not perfect. I'm glad you guys were all safe. Just awesome.
@@victorblondel1902 There are a lot of rules in scubadiving that overcompensate, like in this example, where the true danger is specifically in holding your breath AND ASCENDING. However we are taught as a general rule of thumb to never hold your breath wether you're going up or down despite the fact that from a scientifical standpoint there is actually little danger in holding your breath as you descend lower. That does not mean you should start to go around breaking these rules willy nilly (especially if you're not a trained professional) and start holding your breath, going on a flight 7 hours after a dive, ascending at 3m per minute, or ignoring the 3-5 safety stop. The reason why? because they HAVE TO overcompensate for the simple fact that diving is always an extremely dangerous sport. Even when you know your shit and do everything right, countless things can go wrong and situations can worsen extremely quicky when you’re down in the deep. A good friend of mine's uncle, Robert Palmer, was one of Britain's leading Technical Cave divers; he was a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and was known for his exploration and documentation of the Blue Holes in the Bahamas. needless to say he was an expert with troves of experience. One day he went on a dive in egypt with a group of other experienced colleagues when they noticed he suddenly began to descend rapidly down into the blue. two of his colleagues raced down to reach him but were unable to, having dived down to 100m. They never recovered his body, or worked out what had gone wrong. The underwater world is beautiful, but cruel. so we make rules that are safe and double safe to minimise the chances of anything ever going wrong, but even then we are always at the mercy of the sea.
Damn !! Sam every second of this film is worth all the planning, shooting, mental strengthening that you guys would have been through !! Mind Blowwwwn as always :D
Absoutely incredible, Sam. Didn't look away for one second from beginning to end, absolutely masterful storytelling and such an incredible experience. Loved this behind-the-scenes look just as much as the final film itself - you and Chelsea and Josiah and Sasha make such an epic team!
You’ve really inspired me to continue my UA-cam channel after all these tough years. Can’t wait to look back and see it’s as big as yours one day. Thank man 🔥
Dedication to perfection reveals the soul which in turn reveals the universal truth! Each time we see the journey to the end, to its fruition, it causes ripples through the universes impacting each of our souls and this is the collective relationship of cause and effect. I'm in awe man, it got me!
Man this was just surreal. I love how you took us through the BTS journey. The context made all the difference. I bet if you hadn’t talked about the whole process, it would be impossible for an average viewer to know the struggle behind filming this short. Love the work mate 🙌🏽
started filmmaking after watching your videos back 2017 . you are my inspiration sam . your videos inspired me a lot. you inspired me that much that i left my freelancing job at upwork and now became a full time filmmaker. whenever i fee depressed i just watch your videos and your videos give me more strength to push myself more. Always love your work SAM ❤️
The amount of dedication and preparation you guys put into this film is mindblowing! You are one of the reasons i keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone again and again! Thank you 🙌🏼
The film was gorgeous when I saw it first come out. And now, seeing how much work went in it behind the scenes, I am mind blown!! Amazing work like always!!
Your videos are very encouraging and motivating, thank you so much for being amazing. P.S. The film is astonishing, but I find BTS videos even more interesting !
What good is sony's dynamic range if everything is graded into trump vision? All the skin tones are somewhere between carrot and orange, the rest is teal-puke.
I don’t have words to describe how beautiful it looks to face your fears, going under water like that is probably honestly my worst fear. Maybe I’ll conquer it one day, thank you for conquering your fear so we as viewers can get a chance to look at nature’s true beauty.
We are so glad you showed the behind the scenes for the short film "Angelita." It just puts into context the hard work and skill that went into shooting that short film.
This is incredible. The film itself is fantastic and this gives a true glimpse into just how magically modern filmmaking has evolved. The physical achievement alone of filming this project practically with only a few people is worth admiring. Incredible stuff mate.
As a Content Creator there is no such thing as boundaries - Sam and the crew proved just that. We all knew how hard it is to operate underwater, need not to say shooting a short film with limited experience. For people that said Content Creator is NOTHING close to professionalism - come on man. Respect to the Crew!
This is the life I aspire for, the crazy adventurous ideas are the oxygen you guys breathe!! All the planning and the effort invested in this work are more than worth it, I felt amazing watching your journey and the short film ANGELITA afterwards! words cannot help me describing all this, I'd say as we say in Tunisia 'tniiik ferras' mind blowing.
This behind the scenes was amazing! Such breathtaking shots and seeing the amount of planning that went into this project makes it even more impressive!
Divine content and very good story telling. Chelsea is a real woman and the level of effort and sacrifice she is giving in order to rendezvous with his man is next level. This is how it should be and I hope other females get inspired by your relationship and creation as well. 💫❤️🦋
Finally, my favourite legends doing a legendary things, can't wait to see the full film of Angelita and see you around in Indonesia guys.. The last paradise!
I saw this video a while ago, so beautifully done!! Today, my scuba guide told me we would be diving this Cenote - I was ecstatic!! So awesome to see in person where this beautiful video was made!! Such a magical place!!

The sheer amount of work that you guys have put in for every second of Angelita is just absolutely commendable! Hats of Sam, Chelsea, Josiah, Sasha and the rest of the team! You guys made this so freaking amazing 😍
How can this video didn't explode beyond imagination. Its been uploaded more than a month. Whoever saw this video and the behind the scene. Keep it up brother and best of all the world luck although there is no luck to just a little with someone creative like you.
Its been some time since i finished watching this. And ngl, i am speechless for the past hour & contemplating whatever i just saw. I am in complete awe.
Fellow diver here, and OMG i went diving to Cenote Maravilla, too! That GIANT beam of light right through the middle and a sulfuric cloud around 85-90ft depth is so eerie but incredible. Entering the cloud itself felt a little scary, and to see the rocks turn red because of the oxidation makes you feel like you're entering hell. Went down to the 110ft mark before heading back above the cloud. Oh, and it's also a popular spot for free divers :) My goal is to dive in as many cenotes as possible! Cenotes are one of the most surreal and beautiful experiences I've ever experienced while diving and I simply can not wait to go back
This is so cool! I never knew Josiah was a diver, back in 2015 he helped photograph my sisters wedding.. since that time I became a professional diver and took up photography so this is so cool to see him still creating! Great job guys, what a beautiful vision.
The craziest! If it was "Hey Tim" till now that used to work as a driving force for a lot of us, now it's gonna be this that's going to be just played when things go downhill in life! Thanks Sam & Chelsea 😄🔥
**Goosebumps** I have never seen something so beautiful. And wishing Happy birthday underwater was the sweetest thing Chelsea did for Sam :)
