  • Most commonly over-looked muscle affecting millions of people from poor posture. A great release stretch while sitting to free up adhesions to correct chronic neck, mid-back, and shoulder pain.

Thank you very much Doc. This was helpful. Found out my arm’s pain is caused by this rotator cuff muscle. I could feel it in my shoulder and biceps when doing both stretches.

Very common to have trigger points in the infraspinatus. Wise to treat these with gentle pressure slowly increasing when ok to do so. Then stretch the infraspinatus.

Hi Doctor....Appreciate all you do.You're my go to....Should these be done if I'm experiencing pain or only as a preventive? I'm 72,but very active & concerned that I may have "overdone" the various arm/chest,et al exercises that I do while speed walking. In alot of pain as I write this....THANKS!!!

Hey Doc, hope you can respond to this. But I’ve been dealing with pain in the left shoulder blade area. At least 5-6 times a day I just get like 10-15 minute pain in that area. I have had it for around 1 week and a half. I’m pretty active workout almost everyday. Any suggestions on what I should do??

I had a Labrum repair and Biceps Tenodesis on both shoulders. My right shoulder is having some Infraspinatus impingement... I am having a catching in the posterior shoulder behind my rear Deltoid between the 90 and 60 degrees of the painful arc test. I can do external rotation with bands, but I get a burning/weakness pain after 2 or 3 sets of 40 reps. I was a little irresponsible with my PT, and now I am worried about this impingement, because I am a gym rat that just started school for Kinesiology. What do you think is going on here? Scar tissue causing the Humerus to impinge the Infraspinatus? I can feel the humerus internally catch during the pain arc in the glenohumeral area. Thanks in advance!

My infraspinatus is so gigantic and there is so much tension in it i can feel it burning and tickle very often. I think it also send pain to the arm and the front part of the shoulder. I tried this release i hope it has a positive effect after some time of practicing it. So far there is no pain in the front shoulder when i do the sitting stretch.

I'm confused about these back pain exercises. I developed upper back pain because of very simple yoga exercises, being a beginner. But when I goggled on solutions to back pain I was always referred back to yoga -- when I felt they started it. I've applied ice compress to reduce swelling, heating pad later in the day when I suspected I got back spasms. Gave myself a few days' rest. But when I returned back to those exercises the pains came back. Not enough rest and repair?

Hi. I have had a muscle problem for several weeks, I don't know exactly which one, but I think it is Teres major. I used to chin ups on a bar 22-25 times with a catch. Currently, I will not pull myself up once because I feel a sharp pain in my armpit. Any exercises to stretch or strengthen this muscle?

Ok. I'm lost here. This guy says the infraspinatus is responsible for external rotation (and rightly so as it sits on the posterior side of the scapula) but contradicts as by saying it is over used in seating, on the phone or bad posture. Bad posture is often a result of poor external rotation. Surely you'd rather be stretching the subscapularis which sits anteriorly on the scapula and is responsible for medial/internal rotation. Rarely in my experience of injuries do I ever come across people who have over used posterior chain upper back muscles. It's more common both subscapularis and supraspinatus, upper fibres of the trspezius, anterior deltoid, pectoral major and minor, and biceps. Please explain as I'm confused here.

Kinda thinking doing arms straight out/slightly bent/ little circles in both directions for 30 - 40 reps each at least 2x 3 is better for a complete area "warmup" would be wise 👍
