We have told our adult children that they don’t need to give us gifts anymore, we have everything we need. They have respected this. As far as giving them gifts , we just give them gift cards and money so they can pick out what they really need. I like to keep things very simple. I like to keep my home uncluttered, it really helps my anxiety 😊
Same! It's all about knowing what your enough is and it sounds like you have a very good grasp of that ❤️❤️ Thanks so much for sharing!
This is a brilliant idea. We give each other experiences as gifts like concerts, afternoon tea, dinner, cinema etc. it means we actually get to spend time together and make memories xx
Me too I have 3 adults living here still and I only request time with them like a lunch or flowers/chocolates at the most. Not stuff.
I don't even like to do gift cards anymore because of the plastic waste and they're a pain to manage. I've always found it stressful to pick out presents for my parents so I took that burden off of my adult daughter. We agreed not to exchange gifts for the first time this past Christmas and it was still a special time that we spent together. I'm giving in other ways like helping to clean her apartment buying things she needed for it.
I feel the same way the more things in my house the more anxious I feel. We have four children and we’ve started giving them cash for Christmas. They can use us throughout the year for what they want.
With gifts I got a lot of freedom when I heard that when you receive a gift that is the end of the transaction. You don’t “owe” the person anything more than a sincere “thank you.” After that, the gift is yours to own, regift, or donate. Anything provoking fear or guilt is NOT a gift.
exactly!! Thanks so much for sharing ❤️❤️
Except a mother-in-law like mine was😅
@@bobchevallier8456 therein lies the rub.
I agree with most of what you said except i like faux plants/stems to add colour and style to rooms especially bathrooms and bedrooms. I have the itch to switch and for me, it's uplifting to rearrange, it stops me from buying new items.
Hey if it stops you from buying more I’m all for it! 👏😍 for me I had so much and I found I was never happy with how it looked so I would move it around all the time and that how I know it was clutter
❤ I am at the stage of moving around my “stuff.” It is exhausting!
I love your rule of only having furniture that you can clean under. Moving furniture to clean under is beyond my capabilities now. What an obvious but unthought of fix. You are so encouraging. Please keep up the good work!🎉
Aww so glad to help 😍 good luck friend 👏 thanks so much for sharing ❤️❤️
"Recluttering." That's the first time I have heard that term, and it's a good one. :-) I used to settle for things that I was looking to purchase, which I would eventually end of getting rid of because it's not what I wanted. I don't settle any more. I either find exactly what I'm looking for or I don't purchase it. It's definitely about a mind-set and prioritizing change.
Such great points! Thanks so much for sharing ❤️❤️
Thank you for these tips. Im slowly but surely decluttering my house. I took 4 boxes to the goodwill today, lol!! ❤
That’s amazing and I know such a great feeling 😍👏👏
Another tip I thought of. I got into puzzles from last year and now I swap them with friends or buy from marketplace and then donate or share or resell on. Never keep them and I do one constantly on the go, changing them every month.
I love Minimalism so much 🙏🇦🇺
Great idea!! Thanks so much for sharing your ideas ❤️
One tip for live plants is set a "water plants" alarm on your phone to alert you one day out of the week, then check each one with a water meter. Water where necessary.
What’s a water meter? Haha thanks for sharing! I will look that up
What is a water meter
Terrific & Marvelous job you still doing Becky. I own you a 100% score on it. ✅🥇🤑💰
Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed it!
Love your idea of the Clutter Box ❤ I’m going to incorporate that into my space. And I liked how you spoke abt family and friends wanting to give you stuff, I’ve had that done to me also and here was my solution…I began telling everyone that I don’t want or need “stuff”. Whether that stuff was a gift or just generosity; but if they were going to gift me something, I’d tell them not to get me anything that was just going to “sit there”. I’d tell them to get me something that I’d use, and use right away, i.e. Snacks or toiletries 🧴 or perfume.
Love the ideas! Thanks so much for sharing 😍❤️
I organized our kiddos room and got rid of 3 industrial trash bags of toys and clothes. I love the clutter catcher idea for our kiddos ♥️😍
👏 great job!!
With two little kids, I am on the brink of making the trash can my clutter catcher 😂 Seriously, though, I love the idea, going to try it!
I know it’s a lot with kids ❤️❤️ good luck friend!
We do travel a lot. I also hate remembering to water plants even when it’s seldom. We have faux plants but not too many. When the weather gets warm, we just take them outside and quickly hose them off. Then leave them outside to dry. Super quick and easy.
Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
Yes I am the same and pets who like to chew on really plants of which a lot are poisonous to them. I love the look of plants but I’m just not in the right time of life to have them inside for now. My tip if you have to have fake plants because of these reasons is to get the ones with big leaves they wipe off really easily.
I agree with you, Becky, hushing a room takes at least a week or more. My husband will say, "Where is this or that? I answer just seeing if we can do without it. We are younger seniors and I just don't need or want stuff anymore. Lol some things I wonder why I even bought them. I love your last tip the best as well. Saying no politely doesn't make you a bad person. Enjoying my life is most important to me now than stuff. I just wish I had learned that at your age. ❤ ❤
I still think of all the time I wasted and money spent on stuff I didn’t want and don’t have anymore gahh makes me so annoyed but then I remind myself now is way better then never! 🤦🏼♀️😍hahah thanks so much for sharing your perspective! ❤️❤️
I’m exactly the same. I move things around all the time and drive my family crazy. It’s a perfectionism mindset I reckon. Annoying right. I was the same with the indoor plants too. Fake v real. I love your place! I still think the bottom long shelve could be removed. Would be so good just the two. It still looks cluttered with it. But I love everything else to a T! Good work sister 👍🇦🇺🙏
Thanks friend! I’m gonna keep working on it over here too 😍
Great tips, thanks for sharing Becky 😊❤️

Decorate in two seasons...winter and summer!! Use pillow covers, duvet covers, shower curtain and towel set for display only!!! Use plain hand towels and hang them on back of door with your bath towel.❤❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing your ideas!
❤
Thanks so much for sharing ❤️❤️
I have three gorgeous plants, because I don't want to look after anymore, you have to repot them, feed them, and water them.
I have 5 and I totally agree! I gave away a few in the past year because it was becoming more work then I wanted to take care of them hahah
Where are your electronics for your wall mounted tv? I love the shelves, but mine would have cable boxes, routers, dvd, wires, etc all over.
we have used a wall plug mount behind the tv for cords and we just use something called a Roku so it has all the channels we could want! Thanks for asking 😍
I now ask when someone gives me something they don't need anymore - " Are you totally done with this?" Then I feel free to pass it on when I no longer need it 😊 Anne
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts ❤️❤️
I tried hushing rooms, and found i left it a week because i liked it that way. But then somehow as i continued hushing rooms, more and more stuff accumulated in my spare room and now I hardly can get in there!
Thanks for sharing your experiences! That’s awesome ❤️❤️
i disagree with moving things around. i only have a few things, but when i rearrange my house, it feels brand new and refreshed! i do this maybe twice a year.
It was a big red flag for me when I had many things and was moving them around never finding a place I was happy with them. So yes I agree, move your minimum decor around a few times a year is great if it refreshes the room but I was doing it because I had so much and was never happy with the way it looked
Artificial plants are ..easy.. to clean!!! Just toss them in the shower twice a year.❤❤❤❤ voila
Probably because I have dogs, mine needed to be cleaned a lot more then that
You still have to dust off real plants 😮
Thats why I mentioned because they are real and I have to water them and give them space to grow I buy a lot less and it makes me more intentional in buying them instead of buying a ton of fake plants because I know they wont die. It’s about holding myself accountable
Just put the plants, flowers etc. In the shower. Let them dry in the tub!!! Voila ❤❤❤❤
I HATE the subtitles!
Thanks for the feedback ❤️
I actually love them 👍🏼
I often really need them if there is to much noise around me. Always use them on my telly too!😄
I love the subtitles…
Chiming in to say I loved having them.
❤
Thanks for sharing friend ❤️
