so, bedman's model is already in the game files, and he is... complicated
usually guilty gear characters have 2 models, the head and the body
bedman has 5... (the mattress, the legs, the arms, the head, and the crown)
also the bones do not move the way you expect them to, its incredible how arcsys animated him so well
the animators did one hell of a job, that for sure

I love how they took the xrd mechanic of specials being able to be replayed and twisting it so that the attempted replay is instead the robot failing and breakimg in some way. Functionally its simpler and less clutter on the screen that all the signs, while also fitting the new flavour of how the character has changed incredibly well.
Man, I really want ArcSys to one day make a fighting game with a roster that consists entirely of the weirdest most batshit characters. Like a game where a character similar to Goldlewis would be the normal easy to understand character.
Vampire Savior is kinda like that.
The most "normal" characters are Morrigan, Demitri, Talbain and Felicia, but they all have weird stuff.
Morrigan has a diagonal air-dash, instant overheads and the OG Raging Demon. (Fun Fact: She had it first!)
Demitri has an invincible dash with follow-ups, teleports and some really weird command grabs.
Talbain has his crazy Cannon move that making him a ludicrous rushdown beast, plus an instant overhead.
Felicia ALSO has an instant overhead and her Dark Force turns her into a pseudo-puppet character.
EVERYONE in Vampire Savior is a weirdo and I love it!
Combine Guilty Gear, Vampire Savior, and Skullgirls together and you get that result 💯
I was expecting Delilah to take a back seat to Bedman, but I wasn't expecting her to do absolutely nothing.

I love the goofball/weirdo characters, so in the absence of Robo-Ky I'm actually super pumped that the Bed is Back. No Sheep Lord super is kinda sad, though.

Hemi jack was literally unusable though. I'm glad they're more focused this time at least. They seemed unsure of how to handle him in rev 2 especially.

Can't even blame him. They took one of the most interesting characters in Xrd and turned his gimmick into some of the most boring tripe I've seen in a while. Oh wow, it does a thing on its own every couple seconds. So cool

@@proposterous2808 bro really expects an xrd character to play like xrd in strive. ima blunt man. no one wants to play xrd because of its gameplay even now. it had a small but dedicated fanbases (even me) but a lot of them aswell as most casuals rather play strive. sucks its not the game you or max want but it is what it is. bedmans iteration is story accurate, which im sure most of the xrd players don't give a shit about anyway, so it makes sense and it came out great.

The three main Error followups all share similar properties to the moves that set them up. They actually snuck Deja Vu back in, but made it rad. Love it.
Arakune got nerfed to hell and back after the first game. He was a god but like most fighting games good characters get nerfed when others cant work around it.

Bedman? is definitely the Arakune of this game I agree. Arakune, in EVERY game, has always been a bane of my existence. Maybe it's because I'm a Noel main and have to get close to that blob of bugs but I never want to fight him.

4b - You will circle around
4b9 - There's no 9th row, it's cheating with a hidden piece. Aka, it sucker punches you with the exposed wiring.
13c - Forfeit over time (for you)
4cc - Four Color Conjecture - The idea any structure's map can summed up in four colors in math, thus four pieces in chess is required to win. the trick is only MACHINES can truly comprehend this, not humans. As such the move has four uses (punish, combo, threat, empty poke) while being the same simple feat of strength of a haunted bed robot.
Also the fact he only has four main moves.

Also on a less joking note, the instant-replay and delay moves are named after Knuth Checks, which were rewards handed out for finding bugs/errors. If you read their wikipedia page and look at the images you can see the exact numbers used for the move names.

I get that max doesn’t like bedman but it’s good that they add characters who don’t just cater to max. I was one of maybe three people who played bedman in xrd so I’m thrilled to finally have him back

I have a friend who's main in Xrd was Bedman and that was the main thing that got him into Guilty Gear, so I'm also very happy they aren't only doing the popular characters. Hope for Kum and Zappa to make it in eventually.

edit: arakune is on a different plane of existance compared to anything anywhere. that character can summon 4 projectiles from different angles at once, one of which guard breaks, then turn invisible, and then go for a low/overhead mixup OR a left/right mixup since he has a teleport dash while being invisible and locking you in blockstun.

@@eagleye2893 funnily enough, the second series of fighting games has Koishi, and her special moves are WHACK
instead of doing them instantly, you "stock" them. you can do the input again to trigger them, but they will also auto-trigger if the enemy gets into a specific range
Less complicated but more confusing is a pretty good description to strive in general.
I don't really play fighting games but DAMN those moves sound like straight up cheating! How do you play that?! And more importantly how do you fight against that!?

I think they've done a good job of taking characters with very complex yet fun playstyles from previous games and simplifying them to make it easier to execute but still giving you tools that reward your skill.
I'm 50/50 on this because most of the characters got so dumbed down it's actually boring or removed their identity in away.

@@The_WIll_OF_D99Sin became a worse Nago both design wise and balance wise, Bridget lost pretty much all of her runaway tools, Testament and Ram no longer have traps of any kind furthermore Ram lost her tekken strings, Faust lost pogo stance which was one of his signature moves and overall aside from Potemkin and arguably Leo most of the veterans lost more than they gained going into strive and sure some moves were redundant but a lot of them were character defining moves, so honestly yeah I echo the sentiment.

I was teaching my friend notation around when this came out, describing moves by their input instead of name. When this dropped and we watched it, I turned to my friend and said "This shit is why we call things by notation. Arcsys is why."
