You should put a screen on the hopper of your auger under the fertilizer bin. It catches all the lumps and it helps a lot with keeping them out, that’s what we do. Night and day difference.
Hey, Rich DeBoss Garage has a stainless tank they just pulled off a Terragator Trike, you might be interested in to replace the cracked tank on the Big Brute. Worth checking out maybe.
We had several 1000 gallon water tanks that got damaged and we repaired them with a plastic welder we got from Harbor Freight. They’ve been leak free ever since. They are stationary so don’t know if it would work for you but it’s cheap enough to try.
Do you watch Western Truck and Tractor repair, that guy work's on everything, and he is sraight up honest about his work. Warren is the guy's name, and he work's on stuff in the field, and his shop. He used to work for a strawberry farm, and he did some work on a rig that was fabricated by the guy's who plant the strawberries, and then the plant's are sold all over the world. The fabricating is pretty interesting. God bless.

Ya see my wife beat cancer but her diabetes is slowly killing her and that slowly kills me because she is me and I'm her, kinda like being in an old cemetery where the husband and wife death dates are just a couple of days apart because that's what ya had back then was each other. We have three N14 Cummins in our fleet of hay haulers. 610k, 952k and 1.5m miles. It is a constant cycle of replacing gaskets and seals. At one point, we were doing front main seals every other year. We finally gave in and unless it's a significant leak, we just top it off and keep running. If it's not seeping oil somewhere, there isn't any oil in it!

Don’t take me wrong, I Love the Buds. I hope you guys start modernizing your fleet. The Buds won’t last forever. Adding a couple of Quadtracs in the next ten years would help your operation and is strategic planning for the future. Still run the Buds alongside but not using them as much will make them last a lot longer. Strategic business planning while still having the nostalgia alongside.
@George Jones Everything man made fails. It is one thing when it is your classic car. If it breaks down, you probably have a different daily driver. When it is your business. To put your business, what pays your mortgage, what feeds your family, what pays for your family’s healthcare, puts your children through college, plans for your retirement, you can’t leave that in the hands of what would be 80 years old equipment using your example. I am not anti Buds, if a business doesn’t grow it dies. When you own a business of any kind, you have to plan. You have to plan for maintenance on current equipment as well as what you need for the future. Just listen to the video, they talk about all the problems with their current fleet. They talk about how much better the new 620 is. They talk about that it has more power. I am sure they realize that they can not run their business forever solely on 40 years old equipment and plan to run their business forever on the aging equipment. They are already having a harder time getting parts. That won’t get easier. If they modernize their fleet, they take the burden off the Buds. They may run for 40 more years. If they continue to do so as their sole means to provide, it is going to become increasingly hard to do. Nostalgia is great. I love the Buds. Not planning for the future is a huge mistake for any business.
Some of my neighbors still plant wheat with open-station JD 4020-series tractors and 14-ft drills. Can you imagine planting the Welkers' acreage that way, it would take months.

Fertilizer chunks caused me problems for a bit this year also. Had a bunch I had to store in a semi. The whole top got a crust worse than I thought. The farmer I was working with had an articulated International 4568 that would bounce at a certain speed but after you sped up more it was smooth driving until you started slowing down . He had 30.5 by 32 single radial tires . That was back in early 1980's .. Nick get a few rolls of duct tape lol
Hmmmmm,.....I wonder if the Case IH Quad-Track is headed To Minnesota for the Millennial Farmer?!?!
Buy Legarms like 6 sheets of some light steel and fab a metal tank. Little heavier but repairs are much simpler.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride. God bless.
Need some 10mm mesh screens on the cart lids! Will catch anything going in big enough to block things
The air up there must smell amazing!!
Seeing leg arms in that road grader makes me laugh but it also brings back some memories of my buddy getting hurt in one. He was standing up like that like you do and moving along at a Great clip and caught something and it put him through the windshield. it really messed him up bad. Luckily he's still with us.
Oh wow that is not good! Glad he is still here
Dont worry mate, things breaking left and right at our operation too this year. It is what it is.
Is that a big cam Cummins in the Ford tipper truck
Yes, the green truck
The drone footage at the end of the video was awesome! Thanks for all you do Welker's!
Great video Nick, that new Quad Track is a beautiful machine, but it all cost money, really nice that Case IH loaned you the machines, one day Nick you & Dad & little Brother, will have to bite the Bullet and decide whether to buy a new Quad Track and seeder, well it looked good while it lasted, Cheers & Best Wishes Trevor.W.Bacelli. Great job grading LegArms
Fertilizer chunks caused me problems for a bit this year also. Had a bunch I had to store in a semi. The whole top got a crust worse than I thought. Another year I was very glad I had the IAS blockage. FYI, a ball screen for seed cleaner made a great screen out of the bin. Had a 5 gallon bucket it kept out of the seeder.
