Welp, I've never done this before, that's for sure. So during the intro, we have fretless bass. Then we switch to a fretted bass in standard tuning for most of the song. At the end, they actually used drop D which is not really doable unless you quickly tune down in that little break. Anyway, you don't actually need a fretless bass. The slides will be awkward but it definitely is doable without a fretless.
