I bought one of those Asuka telecasters because of your first video when they started selling them in the us but mine still says nunber on the headstock
@@IrisGalaxis Churches do a lot of charity for the poor and homeless in the US. Schools would give the guitars to music students to keep. The Joe Bonamassa “Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation” does similar work.
I picked up an SG for the very first time in GC a couple of weeks ago, thinking I would hate it because I've never been a fan of the body. Always been an Explorer fan. I was blown away with how comfortable it was to play. It felt great in my hands. Loved the lightweight body, and was taken aback at how different its sound was to an LP. There might be an SG in my future, which is something I never thought I would say!
I really like Casino Guitars' channel. A bit chatty without as much hands-on, perhaps. I for one would prefer if they included a bit more gear when they are sitting and talking with one another, but they do record shorter, dedicated demo videos, and they do have some great and interesting stories about famous guitars and their players when they are shooting the breeze. Definitely worth watching!
Funny you should mention them! I was just there in Aberdeen with a couple friends who watch them yesterday. They were super chill and I got to play anything I could hope to want to play.
That cobra burst custom! Just wow!!!! Such an amazing guitar! I love when Gibson stays classy but does something a little different. That cobra burst is a perfect example of what I mean! Just wow!!! Great video!
Yeah Yeah Yeah Glad to hear I'm not alone! I also wake at 03:30 every morning and start my day the way every Troglodyte should, watching Austin's newest video. First video I watched of Trogly's was back in 2017 when he had fewer than 15K subscribers. It has been wonderful watching his content steadily improve while his Channel grows.
The R5 is made of magnesium alloy. The memory card door is made of plastic and the places where you put your hands is rubberized. But don't mistake that for cheap or shoddy.
Been digging into some older content and couldn't help noticing the progression and development of your playing...someone's been practicing it appears. Well done!
omfg 😂 That Canon R5 is top of the line and, if you don’t use full manual mode, is well beyond what you need to film this channel. Best of luck with it and thanks for the content! 🍻
The round burls on the top side of that Cobra Burst looks insane!... Many peeps are hunting silverbursts... Just hand me a Cobra Burst and I wont complain haha
Nice guitars as always! About that middle pickup on the Captain Kirk model, I wonder why Gibson didn’t reuse the 6-way rotating selector they used to have on some 2007 SG3s and Guitars of the Week (#10, #21 and #30). Not super convenient for quick pickup changes or 3-way switch cut effects, sure, but you do get all available pickup positions (except all 3 together). As you aptly demonstrated in your GOTW 21 video. 😉
That's curious about that site Fender has because I think it was Gretsch I could be wrong but I believe there was a casino model not to mention a good friend of mine knowing that I messed with guitars brought what was either a 335 or a 339 copy with a temple and toaster pickups that the name brand was Casino also. I cleaned it up and intubated it for him lowered tha action but he preferred it high so I reset it. Wasn't a bad guitar just wasn't the best.
Ha! Five Star Guitars- that's my local shop. They're about a mile from where I sit this moment. (And the showroom was closed today b/c of snow/ice storms.)
Yo Trogly, another great show! Do you have any experience with high end PAF clones? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them sound wise as compared to originals. Keep your original sense of humor and style, it's my favorite guitar channel and I watch daily! Take care of you and yours!!!
'Music Villa', they have one of my favorite guitar channels (along with yours of course!) 'Acoustic Letter', specializing in great acoustic guitars. Never would have guessed they would carry a Tele like this one!
If you want that middle pickup you could always replace the 3 way switch with one of those FreeWay switches with 6 possible positions. Then you just swap the blend knob for something else
I've been trying to watch this video for the last two hours. Stupid Texas energy grid. This winter cold snap just messed with Texas. And sent us chasing our hats in a not-unreasonably-chill wind. (Full disclaimer, I've never owned a cowboy hat or boots)
Hang in there buddy, we are getting 8 shades of shit winter weather up here in New Hampshire as well. But... I get it. We in the north east are supposed to. For those smart enough to live in a hospitable southern climate, I am sympathetic.
@@saltpeter7429 It's not the first cold snap to reach down here. You have my sympathies, even if you're more accustomed to cold weather. You're probably better prepared in your nick of the woods, though it's probably of little comfort.
An interesting thing about that Cobra Burst story, for years I didn't care about a guitar's neck profile. Once I was able to find a guitar that really felt exceptional to play and was able to define it was the neck which made it feel great in the hands, that was a major revelation. It is also something that cannot be undone or ignored once realized. These days I prefer the much thicker/rounder neck profiles. I'd like to also add that when comparing two identical instruments with only the neck profiles being the difference I much prefer the thicker necked guitar's tone/sound. Nothing scientific, it's just that for me the thicker neck guitars sound better.
That is a beautiful guitar, my second favorite burst next to silverburst. Wowzers! The cherry red back and neck should be black or trans black in my opinion.
I see your point, but we are talking about a musician as well as a music shop owner. Eccentric is the order of the day. I just laugh when I see him and think he plays a jazzmaster and listens to the cure when he gets home
