- Trying to improve my tone on this big beastie. But I'm getting to enjoy playing it more and more. I've done some live gigs with it now, and a couple of them were as bass-man, pumping along in the lower register like a sousaphone. It's really quite effective.
My grandmother played the baritone and tenor sax. Hearing this brings sweet memories of her to my mind..lovely!
The first few notes blew me away, that deep smooth sound, lovin it! Happy to own one of these, they are so much fun!
bruh trying to "improve your tone" thats a great sound holy crap, maybe if you play the low notes out a littl emore then it would be a little fuller in that register? The subtone does make sense for this tempo though. good stuff either way, this was beautiful

WOW!! Absolutely amazing!! I have been playing bari sax for abut 3 years and I am blown away! Please please please share the sheet music!! If anyone else has a song recommendation for bari sax songs like this let me know or if you have the music to this.

About to get my first bari after a brief layoff - 53 years. With a lot of hard work, I hope to approach your skill. Am I the only one who thinks Ben Webster's tenor on hearing this?

It kinda sounds like he's blowing a lot of spit into the horn. I don't know if he's purposely trying to do that to get like an old radio kinda sound or if he can't control it. But either way it's pretty good.
brandon_duhburrito it’s actually a way to play, it’s kinda weird but it’s to make the jazz sound. You can hear when he goes into the above octave it’s really clear. He’s just using a very soft reed and getting a buzz type sound
Its called a subtone
Subtones. All the greats do it. Dexter Gordon did it a lot. If you study sax then learn about subtones.

Wow and double wow! I have the opportunity of playing a bari in a band and am so looking forward to buying my first one. This just makes me want to do so even more. :)

I really would like to have a baritone but they are so expensive. Tenors are much cheaper. But maybe one day...

I play a 1925 buicher bary after a2 hour gig I look like cwosy modo are these Chinese barys any lighter you sound great by the way

Meyer mouthpiece, can't remember the reed. Sold the sax a year ago.
