Welcome to the Unison fanclub. Seriously, this is why I subscribed. Extremely pleased to see you enjoy and appreciate Vespertine. It's by far my favourite album ever, and Unison is my undisputed favorite song of all time. I mentioned before that for almost all of Björk's albums she creates these universes in which they live and creatively explores pretty grand themes (the earth, the universe, heaven and hell, etc); Vespertine is a bit of an anomoly because it's a microcosm of love and closeness that permeates everything on the album. It's something she won't replicate on this level until you listen to Vulnicura, which I think most fans would consider Vespertine's sister album. I'm so happy that you like it, it feels like I'm listening for the first time again. I almost get in tears with It's not up to you, Undo and Unison, such a beautiful gem of album 🖤 Regards from Chile, can't wait for the next Björk reaction 🖤 Thank you
People always go on about Homogenic, but for me, Vespertine is Björk at her absolute best. Utterly astounding, and that little greek chorus of "she loves him" in Pagan Poetry gives me chills even 20+ years later. Also LOVE seeing the look on your face when there's something you're surprised by or really digging, like at 16:36. My Top 3: Heirloom, Pagan Poetry, It's Not Up To You.
Vespertine has a magic. I think if she only ever made this album and nothing else, it still shows what an amazing artist she is. What she can craft is like nothing else. Again, i really enjoyed your reaction and it takes me back to how I felt when I first heard it when it came out. By that time I knew to expect something different than what came before with Björk. Unison is also my favourite track. I remember her saying it was her most self-indulgent song. Fine by me, it really gives me goosebumps. There are some nice b sides to this album including the track Verandi and Generous Palmstroke.
👏👏👏👏👏👏 I always get soooo Happy and excited to see anyone but especially the younger generation discover Bjork. I'm a bit older than you, I was probably around your age when Vespertine was released. I keep saying the same thing.... Her music is Simultaneously Mind-blowing 🤯🤯🤯🤯 & Heartbreaking 💔💔💔💔💔. Yet somehow you are left Breathless and Speechless.
She wrote and created the beats and structures on her laptop on her own, wanting that beauty and intimacy that would be in complete contrast to Dancer in the Dark's horror. She even had music boxes made, which you hear frequently. Pagan Poetry was the last song she wrote for the album, which is why it sounds heavier than the other tracks. Vespertine - Live at Royal Opera House would be an amazing treat for you to also review. It's visually as arresting as the music on Vespertne.
Homogenic (1997), Selmasongs (2000), & Vespertine (2001) have no skips for me. Time permitting, I can press play and enjoy every song. Hidden Place, It's Not Up To You, Undo, Unison are sublime. You don’t need to watch the film to enjoy the soundtrack. The songs on the album have a different arrangement than how they’re featured in the film. Ex: In the Musicals. Also, a pussy willow is a young catkin plant. Yes, they're called music boxes, hence Mariah Carey's iconic Diamond hit 1993 album.
The drum programming surprisingly is not electronic drumming. Bjork recorded a bunch of random domestic sounds, using cards, hitting furniture, breaking ice, etc. She proceeded to up the gain levels and quantize it to a ProTools grid. She designed the sound with the laptop speakers in mind considering Napster was popular. In Hidden Place, she used reversed Guitar samples and pandiatonic harmony which is why it sounds the way it does. The laptop speakers then were mediocre, but interestingly enough I streamed this track on an older mac laptop and it was beautiful. Vespertine is my favorite Bjork album because it is probably the most advanced futuristic and innovative electronica album recorded in my opinion. Thank u for reviewing this :)
Wow. Love this journey. Found you a couple of days ago and love your thoughts from Debut, Post, Homogenic and Vespertine. This one was really special, your face sure was mine when i heard this album, speacially Unison, that finale... I supposea you already know by the comments, but this is the "love" album around her marriage, and Vulnicura was the end of that phase on her life. Listen this after Vulnicura is painful. Specially Unison. The beauty in the craft of this album, the heavenly strings and choir, the gelid musicbox trilogy inside between this album, the "nest" made with the microbeats, all of that resumes in Unison. After Homogenic, where i think she embraces herself with her freedom, on Vespertine she founds the love that surpasses that, and that emotion was the seed of the making of this album. But it has to die eventually. A lot of possibly maybe unuseful thoughts, but that pain makes, ironically, this album even more beautiful
YEEEEESSSSS, this album save my life ✨✨✨ I love you're reaction and I love that you enjoyed! Vulnicura is the dark side of Vespertine, be prepared for the tears
Dancer in the dark is very powerful and overwhelmingly sad, the soundtrack is great as keeps bjorks signature… Vespertine is definitely her magnum opus, although I love it, my personal favorite is “vulnicura” which I consider a dark twin of this one because it chronicles the end of this relationship, it is just as honest and personal, but maybe personally i gravitate to the sad end rather than the wonder of the beginning, they are both extraordinary though, they cemented the idea that every Bjork song is a universe
looking forward to Vulnicura and I see what you mean, that every Björk track is a universe, it really gets you into a beautiful world in a different way :)
@@luggareviews you’ll notice how she changes styles from album to album, I think vulnicura was a perfect blend of instrumental and electronic, enjoy the road till there
I love this album, and Pagan Poetry is one of my all-time favorite songs. You have great reactions. Since you liked this so much, I'm excited to see how you'll respond to her next album Medulla, which is my favorite Bjork album.
that's the first time i have heard that someone's favourite is Medulla, but I am really excited how that one will turn out with just being accapella (like I read in my Fossora reaction) :)
Let’s gooo ! Gonna edit this comment as i watch with some Vespertine Trivia! (You’ll see Selmasongs doesn’t have the film versions of Dancer In The Dark, they are far superior, Björk wanted the soundtrack to reflect what Selma was dreaming of more than being a copycat of the film, the producers were against the idea but she fought for her work and won) Hidden Place has both a women and men choir the idea here is the meeting of a man and a woman and the start of a relationship Cocoon is my personal favourite, so intimate, if you have time i would suggest you watch the 3 videos from Vespertine, Hidden Place (video idea initially thought for I’ve seen it all on Selmasongs), Cocoon & Pagan Poetry And if anyone is into microbeats i would suggest the album « Objects for an ideal Home » by Opiate (Thomas Knack, who worked with Björk on Cocoon and Undo) Björk recorded the vocals of many songs on Vespertine with a soundfield microphone, normally used to record nature outdoor, not vocals, this enabled her to capture all the microdetailed sounds of the mouth It’s indeed a boys choir on Undo (along with a mixed adult choir in the back) it’s all real recording, and many tracks have orchestral sections, she had to write them for several years before recording all of them the same day with the full hired orchestra (It’s not up to you, Undo, Sun In, Harm of Will, Unison) For Vespertine bjork wanted to write for music boxes (the winter domestical aspect of the album) she composed all the melodies and got them adapted for music box, Pagan Poetry, Aurora, and of course Frosti have music box recordings on them. But she also made one for Cocoon (not used on the album) they are 2 versions of each, albums versions are from 15,5” copper plate discs, and the simpler instrumental versions that are on the singles (and with which she opened the shows of the Vespertine tour) are 7” adaptations. She actually got made bespoke music boxes in plexiglass (traditionally in wood) as she wanted a sound that was more « cold » and « crystalline » which had never been done before (Also Frosti is actually the name of Joga’s son (björk’s best friend) it works as both a nod to him and the idea of frost & winter) Another important element on the album is the Harp, it is predominant in Aurora and Pagan Poetry but you can find harp on half of the songs on the album, she took a long time to fine-tune the melodies and then worked with american harpist Zeena Parkins to interpret them, the bonus track Generous Palmstroke works more as a collaboration between the 2 on the composition Sun In My Mouth is played on Celesta, with the orchestra in the back (same ingredients as Harm Of Will) The text is actually a poem from american poet EE Cummings Vespertine is my all time favorite album, followed by Kid A of Radiohead in second position and Goldfrapp’s Felt Mountain in third, i recommend them !
May I add to this incredible post. Bjork hates the way she sings on Unison, she thinks it sounds like she is mumbling. I mention this because like you I love how she sounds on this song
Your face during It's Not Up To You, Undo and Unison where all I needed LOL Björk has a secret ingredient, the song starts with electronic weirdness and her voice as if it was telling some sort of Fairy tale, but at the last chorus the choir, the strings and her vocals come all together and elevate the song to a masterpiece. I fell for it, you did and everyone else too in the Vespertine fanclub you are now a part of, congrats 🎉
Fun fact Frosti is the name of Joga's (One of Bjorks best friends) son! So very special people in her life, naming songs after them. Loved this reaction :D
I dream some of the music off of Verspertine. I listen to this album for about a month after first listening. I am still utterly baffled by how enchanting this album is. Björk is a magic maker.
You're goddamn right it's a 10. I haven't watched your other Björk reactions yet, since Post is her only earlier album that I think is great. This is my favorite Björk, with Utopia second (her most aggressive and primal, yet still beautiful, album), and Vulnicura, Medúlla, and Biophilia in a three-way tie for third. I'm excited that you liked the strings and harp so much, since Joanna Newsom is a harpist, and her album Ys is loaded with strings. If you want another album that features excellent orchestration, I would recommend A Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead. You've probably already heard it, but it's my favorite work by them. If you want to hear some more idm-stylings and microbeats in pop music, check out Quarantine by Laurel Halo. Of course, not for reactions necessarily. Joanna Newsom - Ys, Ichiko Aoba - qp, Richard Dawson - Peasant, Yuki Saito - Love, and In Gowan Ring - Hazel Steps Through a Weathered Home are the only albums I could ever request you to react to in earnest with all my heart.
I have never listened to an Radiohead album before btw :), but I think I'll do that soon because there was a huge demand for it :D I will listen to Joanna Newsom today for the first time! So I think the reaction will be on YT next week :)
PJ Harvey''s album, Is This Desire?, would be her Vespertine, I think you'll enjoy that as well then. Fiona Apple's debut Tidal has this dreamy effect, When The Pawn was a little harder. Radiohead's OK Computer as well, great production and nelodies. Before I make a nuisance of myself any further, just one last one, Róisín Murphy's first solo album after Moloko split, Ruby Blue will be a listening feast.
i love how it seems like even with the language barrier, your physical expressions show how the music affects you enough. love how you react and review albums.
I came here to watch someone else also enjoy Unison from this album after I listened to it again on my cd player next to me. It is so unbelievably heavenly and transcendent, it makes it feel like a secret song for me that I don't really get to share with anyone else and i get to enjoy it on my own. when I've put vespertine on replay, I somehow would always wake up to _THAT_ song with the beautiful chorus playing, it was almost overwhelming and I'd cry while my heart would swell up. 🥲
A strong recommendation: don't miss Generous Palmstroke (a bonus track from the Japanese edition), and also please watch the Live at the Royal Opera House. She goes even further and further 🤯
Glad you love it, my favourite album of hers/of anyones. It was her falling-in-love album. Also, FYI, her videos are just as astonishing, worth checking them out, especially 1993-2001.
Truly one of the greatest works of modern music. Check out the amazing Vespertine Live release (preferably the DVD/video) -- especially for "Harm of Will" and the final track, a live version of the non-album track "It's in Our Hands" - one of the best concert-closing songs ever (and bold, for being a non-album track!).
One of my favorite albums ever. It's so beautiful, wintery, soothing and heavenly. Your reaction especially to the last song honestly made me emotional. Have you ever considered doing Kate Bush album reactions? A good start is Hounds of Love. I think you'd love it. She and Björk aren't exactly similar in the sound but she is Björks biggest inspiration and the mother of art pop.
Thank you very much for watching, I am glad you enjoyed this reaction ^^ I have heard the one very known Kate Bush track and really loved that one, I think Running up the Hill or something, great track :) might try more!
@@luggareviews the 2nd half of hounds of love is a concept album called the ninth wave and it tells a story of a woman stuck at sea all alone You should def check it out you'll like it!
This album is pure beauty and will probably always be considered her best. Will you be doing her album Utopia as well, and her remix albums Telegram and Bastards? Also check out the King Cannibal Mix of Thunderbolt, which is off the Biophilia album era remix EP's
YAYY!! Im so happy you loved this album, it really is a masterpiece! Im excited for you to check out the rest of her albums, which still continue to be amazing!
when they listen to Bjork in the future they will say that she was ahead of her time by light years! she's my favorite artist ever, and this album blew me away when it was released and still does. thx for the great reaction :)
Amo todas tus reacciones a Björk!
I stumbled upon your Hissing of Summer Lawns (my third favourite album ever) reaction today and now I'm hooked. Vespertine is my favourite album by Björk. It's ethereal, intimate, and majestic at the same time. I hadn't listened to it in a while, so it was nice to go through the songs along with you, my favourites being Undo, Pagan Poetry, Frosti, Sun in My Mouth and Harm of Will. Sadly, I haven't been able to listen to Björk's work after Vespertine as avidly. Maybe Vulnicura. I love your videos, your hair, and your passion while talking about music ❤
Tied with Joanna Newsom's Ys for my favorite album of the 2010s. Ys is probably my favorite of all time, but it's not as accessible and the late-night winter mood of Vespertine makes it an easy contender. Glad you enjoyed it.

I haven’t watched a reaction video in a long time cause I do a lot of reactions too and I didn’t want to influence myself. But for some reason I was drawn to click on yours and i was glad I did! I really enjoyed your very sincere insightful thoughts. Vespertine more than any other album is my heart. I feel like Bjork really expressed something very deep that I hope one day I can express for myself with this kind of perfection! I love that you talked about how romantic this album is which I feel like nobody does even though this album was about her husband when they first met. I wish I could say it stayed that way. But too bad it didn’t …Vulnicura is the break up album! I also watched another one of your videos where you talked about whiplash! I love that movie too. You must like intense experiences….because that movie and this album too are such intense experiences. I mean if I’m going to watch or listen to something I want to watch or hear something that is going make me really FEEL. No?
Glad you like the way im reacting to Vespertine, it‘s a brilliant album, just beautiful. Whiplash is one of my favourite movies of all time, or I just love Damien Chazelle, he also did La La Land, which is also one of my favourite movies. He is a genius when it comes to emotions in the cinematography and the way he uses the soundtrack as a centerpiece of story, just amazing.
@@luggareviews You know I didn’t even realize that Damien Chazelle also did La La Land. Another movie I loved. They’re such a different films! But then again the ending of La La Land is so bittersweet and also if I think about it is pretty intense but In a different way just because it’s kind of an emotional roller coaster. Have you watched Ari Aster’s movies? They’re very different directors but I think they’re also so intense, have fantastic cinematography and interesting scores.
@@luggareviews that’s probably a really great way of watching that movie! Because it’s partially friends going on the creepiest vacation ever! If you haven’t seen hereditary that’s really his best movie though. Really an unforgettable experience. But maybe traumatizing lol. Plus the score is so interesting. Colin Stetson used sax and contrabass clarinet in such interesting ways. He also just did the score for The Menu which was incredible too. I was thinking about doing a video about him.
Matmos did a hilarious album called A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Cure, dedicated to their fathers who were both doctors. It's largely made from samples of surgery or medical tools, except for when they bump it up a little with straws blown into glasses of water for extra squelch on Lipostudio, and one deeply upsetting track made from plucking and bowing a rat cage as a protest about animal testing. They also remixed Bjork a couple of times, with very bonkers results. Olivier Alary remixed several of these tracks very beautifully as Ensemble, and as a result he and Bjork wrote Desired Constellation on the next album. It's not *that* weird to talk about Timbaland and Bjork at this point, it's just not so very obvious from the albums, but she's had more connections to rap than you'd expect - she'd remixed A Tribe Called Quest, and gotten remixes provided for her by everyone from the Beastie Boys to RZA of the Wu Tang Clan (there was even some proper Wu Tang collab but we'll never hear it.) Dobie raps on his versions of I Miss You, and Kelis sings with her on a version of Oceania from the next album. Tricky's Nearly God counts too I guess lol - and if you expand it to urban generally, Goldie, Dillinja, Dallas Austin and Photek all had a go too. And the Sugarcubes supported Public Enemy on tour!
Vespertine is such a great album - truly a masterpiece. Love it so much. Another music act, that you might find interesting, is Goldfrapp. Ever heard of them? They are masters of music as well. Check out their first album "Felt Mountain".
@@luggareviews I have a feeling you might appreciate them. All of their albums are super different from each other, however each one pretty much a masterpiece.
this was my first Björk album and still my favourite!! chillout electronic music was really popular at the time (zero 7, air, boards of Canada, royksopp etc) so this album accidentally became part of that trend imo
I'm a big fan of Björk. This album is her highlight! I regret that since then she stayed in this period of micro and experimental sounds. I do like the album Volta and was at that concert in Amsterdam. It was something special. I like your reviews on albums. If i might make suggestion: Miss Kittin And The Hacker - Two [2009].
I liked you mentioned Timbaland at some point when commenting on Heirloom. Björk would work with him on Volta, her second album after Vespertine. You should check out on it! Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
On to "Medulla". You're in for a strange experience, but a good one. I can't wait for you to get to "Biophilia", my favourite Bjork album. No, you don't have to listen to and watch EVERYTHING single thing that she's done to be thorough with her discography reaction reviews. Go through her discography -- her ALBUMS -- then disover those side things on your own. If you then want to do a reaction review on them, then do it, but don't feel compelled to add those to this is.
What's so cool about this reaction is you have a in depth knowledge of different EDM generes which might have inspired some of the best programing. Vespertine is a masterpiece. REALLY sonically lush, sensitive and narrative.
@@luggareviews Selma songs is an amazing soundtrack she did and I don't think it's been reviewed. It's so cool and the movie ( dancer in the dark) is amazing
If you loved this album and most of her work you should react to B-sides and extra tracks as well :) There are some like Generous Palmstroke for Vespertine or Komid for Medulla that really fit the spirit of the album , even if not officially included in all physical releases 🤗
If you ever watch the music video for Pagan Poetry, you might not understand what you're seeing as the images are very vague, so I'll tell you: Björk recorded herself and her lover together in the acts of love, and then the images were highly distorted to make it more abstract. With that in mind, you can more easily figure out what's happening in the video, and it's very intimate. Not only between the two of them, but between an artist and her audience.
what album of Cocteau Twins is like Vespertine? I like some Cocteau Twins stuff, but like the most popular songs and it's nothing like Björk for me :( Could you recommend me an album to get in deep?
"It's weird talking about Timbaland, while we're listening to Björk." Oh man, you're in for some surprises. I mean, she has always been working with the best beatmakers like Nellee Hooper, Goldie, Tricky and even on Verspertine, with the German computer beat maker Console. But yes, there will be several Björk/Timbaland songs on a later record, so... no, it's not weird at all, actually.
He is not skipping ahead he is listening to the whole song The reason the songs are chopped are because of a branch of video making called editing not sure if you've ever heard of it or not
Pagan Poetry and Unison are two of the best songs ever
i put its not up to you and undo on that level aswell
This is her masterpiece. So glad you loved it.
thank you for watching :)

@@luggareviews you’ll notice how she changes styles from album to album, I think vulnicura was a perfect blend of instrumental and electronic, enjoy the road till there
we know this album finishes with us all finally reaching climax . . . 🦢
(You’ll see Selmasongs doesn’t have the film versions of Dancer In The Dark, they are far superior, Björk wanted the soundtrack to reflect what Selma was dreaming of more than being a copycat of the film, the producers were against the idea but she fought for her work and won)
Hidden Place has both a women and men choir the idea here is the meeting of a man and a woman and the start of a relationship
Cocoon is my personal favourite, so intimate, if you have time i would suggest you watch the 3 videos from Vespertine, Hidden Place (video idea initially thought for I’ve seen it all on Selmasongs), Cocoon & Pagan Poetry
And if anyone is into microbeats i would suggest the album « Objects for an ideal Home » by Opiate (Thomas Knack, who worked with Björk on Cocoon and Undo)
Björk recorded the vocals of many songs on Vespertine with a soundfield microphone, normally used to record nature outdoor, not vocals, this enabled her to capture all the microdetailed sounds of the mouth
It’s indeed a boys choir on Undo (along with a mixed adult choir in the back) it’s all real recording, and many tracks have orchestral sections, she had to write them for several years before recording all of them the same day with the full hired orchestra (It’s not up to you, Undo, Sun In, Harm of Will, Unison)
For Vespertine bjork wanted to write for music boxes (the winter domestical aspect of the album) she composed all the melodies and got them adapted for music box, Pagan Poetry, Aurora, and of course Frosti have music box recordings on them. But she also made one for Cocoon (not used on the album) they are 2 versions of each, albums versions are from 15,5” copper plate discs, and the simpler instrumental versions that are on the singles (and with which she opened the shows of the Vespertine tour) are 7” adaptations. She actually got made bespoke music boxes in plexiglass (traditionally in wood) as she wanted a sound that was more « cold » and « crystalline » which had never been done before
(Also Frosti is actually the name of Joga’s son (björk’s best friend) it works as both a nod to him and the idea of frost & winter)
Another important element on the album is the Harp, it is predominant in Aurora and Pagan Poetry but you can find harp on half of the songs on the album, she took a long time to fine-tune the melodies and then worked with american harpist Zeena Parkins to interpret them, the bonus track Generous Palmstroke works more as a collaboration between the 2 on the composition
Sun In My Mouth is played on Celesta, with the orchestra in the back (same ingredients as Harm Of Will)
The text is actually a poem from american poet EE Cummings
Vespertine is my all time favorite album, followed by Kid A of Radiohead in second position and Goldfrapp’s Felt Mountain in third, i recommend them !
May I add to this incredible post. Bjork hates the way she sings on Unison, she thinks it sounds like she is mumbling. I mention this because like you I love how she sounds on this song
thank you for this in depth comment, I can see that this album is something very special to all of you and also to björk :)
By far my favorite reaction to vespertine so similar to mine great to see someone just get it!!
glad you enjoyed my reaction :D
YESSS IM SO EXCITED
Your face during It's Not Up To You, Undo and Unison where all I needed LOL
Björk has a secret ingredient, the song starts with electronic weirdness and her voice as if it was telling some sort of Fairy tale, but at the last chorus the choir, the strings and her vocals come all together and elevate the song to a masterpiece.
I fell for it, you did and everyone else too in the Vespertine fanclub you are now a part of, congrats 🎉
Definitly the best Bjork album. Now it has the highest user score in RYM website among ALL female artist solo albums
Time will prove its greatness
Fun fact Frosti is the name of Joga's (One of Bjorks best friends) son! So very special people in her life, naming songs after them. Loved this reaction :D
that's awesome, because we already had a track that was called Joga and now the son also, that's kinda cute :D
I didn't know that hmmm
Cocoon and Unison are the standouts here. They stop me in my tracks and take me elsewhere. Sublime stuff.
Best album ever… I cried 3 times watching this video 😭
I dream some of the music off of Verspertine. I listen to this album for about a month after first listening. I am still utterly baffled by how enchanting this album is. Björk is a magic maker.
The best album ever omg love your reaction and hi from Poland!
thank you for watching again and glad you enjoyed it :)
I have never listened to an Radiohead album before btw :), but I think I'll do that soon because there was a huge demand for it :D
I will listen to Joanna Newsom today for the first time!
Before I make a nuisance of myself any further, just one last one, Róisín Murphy's first solo album after Moloko split, Ruby Blue will be a listening feast.
i love how it seems like even with the language barrier, your physical expressions show how the music affects you enough. love how you react and review albums.
that's true,i'm a Chinese and vespertine has always been my fav ❤
Almost every song was your favorite until the next, then the next... i think this is my favorite Bjork album
Thank you so much for reaction!!!
My favourite album of all time. Agree with all your ratings full on 10/10 brooo
I loooove to see people hearing a Bjork album for the first time ❤️❤️
My favourite album ever 😄 Thanks for doing it!
Thank you very much for watching, I am glad you enjoyed this reaction ^^
I have heard the one very known Kate Bush track and really loved that one, I think Running up the Hill or something, great track :) might try more!
@@luggareviews the 2nd half of hounds of love is a concept album called the ninth wave and it tells a story of a woman stuck at sea all alone
You should def check it out you'll like it!
**I can play Unravel... Pagan Poetry... and Unison over and over and over and over, lol all day on repeat!!! LOVE BJORK****
Im excited for you to check out the rest of her albums, which still continue to be amazing!
your name is Vulnicura on YT so there are a lot of people that love that album :D looking forward to it!
its just magic a human can make an album like this isnt it 💕
an absolute masterpiece❤❤❤
I couldn't agree more. 🐧🍎💙🍏
when they listen to Bjork in the future they will say that she was ahead of her time by light years!
she's my favorite artist ever, and this album blew me away when it was released and still does. thx for the great reaction :)
Thank u so muchhhh!!! You have listened my fav album of all times!!! ❤
I love your videos, your hair, and your passion while talking about music ❤
this is my comfort reaction truly
Tied with Joanna Newsom's Ys for my favorite album of the 2010s. Ys is probably my favorite of all time, but it's not as accessible and the late-night winter mood of Vespertine makes it an easy contender. Glad you enjoyed it.
There is an interesting musical analysis of "Hidden Place" by one "Augusto".

@@popcornphilosopher yes, I watched Midsommar, interesting and creepy movie haha, was a lot of fun watching that with some friends
I haven't heard of goldfrapp :) might check her out
@@luggareviews I have a feeling you might appreciate them. All of their albums are super different from each other, however each one pretty much a masterpiece.
this was my first Björk album and still my favourite!! chillout electronic music was really popular at the time (zero 7, air, boards of Canada, royksopp etc) so this album accidentally became part of that trend imo
After weeks of listening to this album I can say…
Best art pop album I have ever listened to!
Oh please, tell us later how it went with Dancer in the Dark ❤
My favorite album 😍
I'm a big fan of Björk. This album is her highlight! I regret that since then she stayed in this period of micro and experimental sounds. I do like the album Volta and was at that concert in Amsterdam. It was something special. I like your reviews on albums. If i might make suggestion: Miss Kittin And The Hacker - Two [2009].
I liked you mentioned Timbaland at some point when commenting on Heirloom. Björk would work with him on Volta, her second album after Vespertine. You should check out on it! Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Welcome to the club 😂🥹

it's an honor :D
The best
REALLY sonically lush, sensitive and narrative.
thank you for the kind words :D I loved every last bit out of this album, I'm really excited myself to do the next bjork album!
@@luggareviews Selma songs is an amazing soundtrack she did and I don't think it's been reviewed. It's so cool and the movie ( dancer in the dark) is amazing
@@lastdays9163 I already recorded the reaction I watched the film yesterday and the vid is coming up today :)
Fun fact : the video of pagan poetry , is a real sex tape of bjork and her ex husband .
This album is perfect .
Unisson is one of her best song .
If you loved this album and most of her work you should react to B-sides and extra tracks as well :)
There are some like Generous Palmstroke for Vespertine or Komid for Medulla that really fit the spirit of the album , even if not officially included in all physical releases 🤗
If you ever watch the music video for Pagan Poetry, you might not understand what you're seeing as the images are very vague, so I'll tell you:
Björk recorded herself and her lover together in the acts of love, and then the images were highly distorted to make it more abstract.
With that in mind, you can more easily figure out what's happening in the video, and it's very intimate. Not only between the two of them, but between an artist and her audience.
If you think this is the best Björk album so far, then you will absolutely love the music of Cocteau Twins.
never heard of Cocteau Twins, should i listen to them? :)
what album of Cocteau Twins is like Vespertine? I like some Cocteau Twins stuff, but like the most popular songs and it's nothing like Björk for me :( Could you recommend me an album to get in deep?
@@luggareviews give the album "Treasure" a go.
@@estebancaro9231 It's more that the vocalist is comparable to Bjork and the music has a similar sense of soaring beauty.

better than overreacting, ... right?
@@luggareviews my friend steve jumped from a five storeys building when he heard that outro of unision. it was just that good.
"It's weird talking about Timbaland, while we're listening to Björk." Oh man, you're in for some surprises. I mean, she has always been working with the best beatmakers like Nellee Hooper, Goldie, Tricky and even on Verspertine, with the German computer beat maker Console. But yes, there will be several Björk/Timbaland songs on a later record, so... no, it's not weird at all, actually.
after u get done with her discography please watch all of the music videos!
TIMBALAND PRODUCED A SONG WITH BJORK ON VOLTA !! 😭
Bjokas 💋💋💋
Not weird to mention Timbaland while listening to Bjork. Not at all.

my Björk Fossora reaction got blocked because of that, cheers.
He is not skipping ahead he is listening to the whole song
