I have Texas Specials from Fender these sound similar, nice pickups.

Nice! I have a Fender Tex mex in the neck of one guitar I love the sound of, but from what I’m reading the Texas Specials sound very different from the Tex Mex. One of these days I’ll check out some Texas specials

Any harshness in person ? I tried GFS 10 years ago and found it was pretty wide spread amongst their p ups w the exception of the big magnet Tele neck.

I’ve never noticed it with any Alnico magnet pickups. Granted, any guitar I’ve put GFS pickups into started with some pretty harsh cheap pickups. So GFS is usually a step-up from any bottom-of-the-barrel pickups. Will I take dimarzio or SD’s out of a guitar to replace with GFS? No, but they can take a cheap guitar up to decent and perfectly useable.
