When I was doing the Savathun’s strike nightfall a few weeks ago, I found a strange audio log type thing right before the boss room that had something to do with like Zavala’s personal logs or something. It really confused me and I was wondering if there were more of those audio logs around
In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him... the Doom Slayer.
I swear, Mars is the greatest achievement of the Vex. They warped the reality of the planet to nerf a Worm God and warped the positioning of Rasputin to be in front of the Darkness when it arrived. They also regressed Rasputin’s intelligence back to a bot...oh wait, did I say Vex? I meant Bungie.

These videos help me get over my anxiety, stop over thinking, and help me fall asleep on days when I can’t. He probably won’t see this but I just wanted to say thank you byf!
The darkness isn't scared of the light which is why it goes towards it. It it scared of itself, that's why we need stasis. Darkness is like pain, it's always there and you can only overcome it by embracing it. Again stasis. We only can overcome the darkness by embracing it. It will be tempting to join it but we must always decline. We need to fight fire with Fire. Zavala will not be very happy about the darkness embracement but it's the only way. The dark is scared of the dark and we need to become dark to be in dark. Then and only then can we destroy it at its core. This is how we win.
Shin malphur was right, we will be so much more if we embrace the darkness and using our light as a painkiller. Just like how Mara consumed Oryx's power to go toe to toe with Savy. Like how we went to the asendant realm to kill Crota. A dark with a guidance of light will overpower against the dark alone. If the bomb overpowers the sword then the bomb, as a victor, will make the rules according to the way of the sword.
Byf, when you get to doing the Mercury lore video, please take some time to explore the story of Sola (from the Trials of Osiris weapon lore tabs) as well as the implications from that story.
Hey byf I have a theory about the drifter.is it possible that the drifter is using the motes to create a throne world.Because if you think about it he's using Gambit as a way to kill things and use the sword logic to get the motes to make a throne world I also think this cuz he stated during the allegiance quest that he doesn't trust his ghost and the thone world would be an alternative to living after death. also I wondered if the drifter had like some control over the taken because in one of the lines in the new contact public event he states when some taken spawn in that they are not his taken. if you could bring some light on this theory and give me your thoughts that would be greatly appreciated
Throughout various activities you learn he is and isnt building a "throne world." He is in the fact that he is using Taken and motes of darkness like the Hive leaders, but he isnt because he isnt taking anything therefore his little "throne world" is, according to in game sources, a small pocket of the ascendant realm big enough for him and probably a small number of those he chooses where he hopes to hide and wait out the second collapse. Essentially he has a small pocket of the ascendant realm but not an actual "throne world." I hope this made sense

@MyNameIsByf what about doing a video on mercury and its lore. Especially seeing how the curse of osiris and saint-13 storylines both take place there, and its disappearing soon into the DCV...
The Traveler meddled with this planet long ago. Now, it's mistakes will be corrected, and Mars alongside other places like Io, Titan, and Mercury will be born anew.
So, I understand that this might not be the best video, but I would love to see a video on venus and why we are unable to go there anymore (lore wise) I loved the atmosphere of the planet, and can't wait to be able to access it again hopefully soon thanks to dcv, but I have no clue why we as gaurdians aren't allowed to go there. Was there a ban on travel due to the Siva outbreak? Did something happen with the fallen there? What happened.
Looking at comments? Here's a pitch of an idea: since D2 vanilla, why have the Fallen been draining the Vex of their fluid? I don't ever remember getting an answer to this, and it is just one of those lingering questions that has been unanswered for me.
I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t mention the fate of Meridian Bay, the cabal legions on Mars, and the Black Garden Gate. The lore of the Dunemarchers + dialogue from Cayde, and the Retribution pvp map, explain and imply that the Red Legion brought even more of their might down on Mars than earth. They destroyed the Vex gate leading to the Black Garden and others, as well as their superstructure in the “Bastion” pvp map, taking control of Meridian Bay and ending the cabal-Vex stalemate. In addition, the dunemarchers lore implies that the previous legions engaged in a rebellion of sorts against the Red Legion, due to many being loyal either to Calus or the remaining Valuses and Primuses on the planet. Their fate is unknown. It’d be interesting to go back there, maybe that’s where Caiatl will go when she comes to our system, since Meridian Bay seems to be the only Stronghold of the Red Legion that hasn’t been broken by us Guardians.
I feel like Byf has either no respect for the Cabal or a hatred of them. Every time I hear him say something of them its wither a mockery or a statement of degradation. I think they earned respect since Vanilla D2, they did what various others could not and that was take the city and give Humanity its biggest defeat, I love the Cabal btw awesome enemy, keep up the content byf
it may be possable for us to reverse the events of the pyramids or perhaps find a solution to fight back in the future due to the worldline zero alone that may be a way for bungie to pull the old "haha you thought we were done here?"
can you please explain the awoken origins and the reef? are all awoken guardians/immortal? can awoken children be born? how many awoken reside in the city? these are some questions I have about them.
1: the Awoken came about as humans that got stuck between the powers of the Traveler and the Darkness while on their journey home. The Reef is essentially a graveyard: the wrecks of spacefaring colony ships from the Golden Age making up the majority of it's "content." 2: the Awoken are not immortal. Not all of them are Guardians to boot. It's incredibly complicated stuff. 3: the rest of your questions have no answer. There is so much about the Awoken or even the universe of Destiny that is left completely ignored.

He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

Lol Red Legion got fed up with the war effort against the vex in general so they yeeted a moon at the Black Garden's gate.
The only things I really remember from Mars in D1 are Charlemagne, and “Whether we wanted it or not, we stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars, so lets get to taking down their command one by one. Valus Ta’aurc, from what I can gather he commands the Seigedancers, from an Imperial land tank outside Rubicon. He’s well protected, but with the right team we can punch through their defenses, take this beast down, and break their grip on Freehold.”
@MyNameIsByf what about doing a video on mercury and its lore. Especially seeing how the curse of osiris and saint-13 storylines both take place there, and its disappearing soon into the DCV...
I was already sad to see Mars go... now I’m even more sad to see it go 😢
Loved this video and I'm really looking forward to your Leviathan video. See you star side.
„You Carry weapons , you don’t need them “ 😳
Yhea, I’m going to wreck this planet, so enjoy it while it’s yours
The Traveler meddled with this planet long ago. Now, it's mistakes will be corrected, and Mars alongside other places like Io, Titan, and Mercury will be born anew.
Dragonborn Express uh oh darkness sympathizer
*Korg appears*
"Piss off, ghost!"
@@josefzalusky7307 I laughed way too much at that
I need some more time to find saint 14 on mercury, could you slow down a bit?
Mars is cool and all, but
Wether we wanted it or not we stepped into war with the cabal on Mars.
Indeed
checking in with byf to double check that mars is indeed red
byf do a video about the pyramid once more please
Great law video on Mars
Whether we wanted it or not, Byf is reviewing the lore on Mars.....
So I was playing Destiny 2 and listening to this and the "Wether we wanted it or not" came on as soon as I hit orbit
i will miss mars spent a lot of time leveling there
So, I understand that this might not be the best video, but I would love to see a video on venus and why we are unable to go there anymore (lore wise) I loved the atmosphere of the planet, and can't wait to be able to access it again hopefully soon thanks to dcv, but I have no clue why we as gaurdians aren't allowed to go there. Was there a ban on travel due to the Siva outbreak? Did something happen with the fallen there? What happened.
Destiny confirmed sequel of Total Recall.
Event Horizon lol
It’d be interesting to go back there, maybe that’s where Caiatl will go when she comes to our system, since Meridian Bay seems to be the only Stronghold of the Red Legion that hasn’t been broken by us Guardians.
ngl, id love to hear the lore of the EDZ
I feel like Byf has either no respect for the Cabal or a hatred of them. Every time I hear him say something of them its wither a mockery or a statement of degradation. I think they earned respect since Vanilla D2, they did what various others could not and that was take the city and give Humanity its biggest defeat, I love the Cabal btw awesome enemy, keep up the content byf
They had help from the nine as well to invade earth
it may be possable for us to reverse the events of the pyramids or perhaps find a solution to fight back in the future due to the worldline zero alone that may be a way for bungie to pull the old "haha you thought we were done here?"
can you please explain the awoken origins and the reef? are all awoken guardians/immortal? can awoken children be born? how many awoken reside in the city? these are some questions I have about them.
1: the Awoken came about as humans that got stuck between the powers of the Traveler and the Darkness while on their journey home. The Reef is essentially a graveyard: the wrecks of spacefaring colony ships from the Golden Age making up the majority of it's "content."
2: the Awoken are not immortal. Not all of them are Guardians to boot. It's incredibly complicated stuff.
3: the rest of your questions have no answer. There is so much about the Awoken or even the universe of Destiny that is left completely ignored.
Speaking of rasputin, here's some food for thought. Do you think he will be fixed via the moon seraph bunker? (Felwinter lie quest area)
Ahh yes just gotta add a tiny bit of tslayp memery to spice up the video i love it
I wanna go back to meridian bay it was my 2nd fav from D1
