    I have a American standard Jaguar bass and got one of these for band practice, the fender was 10x the price of the hb but no way is it 10 times 'less good??' ,it's a fantastic bass not even for the price- it just is. the neck isn't a jazz neck but is still totally playable, pickups sound fantastic too. I find myself using it more than the fender now. The only thing was - I had to return the first bass I ordered as the qc had passed a badly put together example but Thomann paid for return and I got an amazing bass back!!

    This is the best offering by Harley Benton regarding jazz basses. You're getting an American Ash body, alnico jazz pickups, a beefy 'D'-profile neck, Wilkinson standard jazz bridge with brass saddles. And can be purchased NEW from Thomann currently for $155 USD, plus shipping depending on where you live. I own the natural ash model.........You will never beat Harley Benton on value for your buck. You can't even buy a Fender Squier new at that price, and their quality is not as good as the Harley Benton.

    I just bought one of these. It is probably the most beautiful JB I have ever owned.. Fit finish setup and sound were amazing. I will most likely seldom play it however. It weighs so much that it fatigues you within minutes. I tried using it for a recording session sitting down and it's weight almost immediately cut off the circulation in my leg. It was painfully heavy in my lap..I am unsure how Harley Benton could get so much right and then ruin it all by making it a ship anchor!

    • @yurii_chynchyk

      Hi there ! I was looking to buy this model but suddenly faced with this weight complaints from people who've bought it. But no matter how much I like how it looks and plays when I see a comment like yours about 5.6kg of weight while the average bass should weight around 3.8-4.2kg I understand that that's a huge difference. And I wouldn't like to have this anchor neither on my lap nor shoulders. Is it really that noticeable ? Thanks

    hello, you play really nice, i am thinking of buying this bass, but i would like to ask a few questions, the aspect and price make this bass very tempting and i would not like to spend more then i have to,i am thinking between this or the squier vintage modified 70, i reallize that this is a cheap bass and it costs literraly half than what the squier costs, but like i said i dont wanna spend more than i have to,especially if its my first bass but i would not like to buy the worst and cheapest just for the sake of buying, and after a year i am forced to change it and buy a new one. I want a bass that will last me a few years ! I would like to know is this is a good quality bass ? if its comfortable to play, if the electronics sound bad? is there string buzzing or noise from the amp when you play ? or buzzing from the pickups when you turn one off or on ? How well does it stay in tune ? and most importantly are there any sharp frets sticking out from the neck ? Is this bass worth it and is it worse than the squier? which one would you recomad ?

    How does this stack up against the Squire Active Jazz bass? Build quality? Playability?

    • @uzmeyer1752
      @uzmeyer1752 6 років тому

      I have this exact one and a deluxe active squier, just played both a bit and the main difference i can tell is that the squier has lighter and less used strings because i never play it. Both are comparable even to my warwick in regards of playability. And well, the active electronic sounds like active electronics, good but i just prefer not having to keep track of batteries in my instrument. Both are tanks (and heavy) in regards to build and the HB has seen fair ammounts of abuse (dropped, thrown, etc) without getting a scratch. I originally bought the HB as a backup but ended up using it to play entire gigs. For the price its an absolute no brainer, be it as a cheap backup or you main instrument. The wood used on mine is also so beautiful i first thought it was printed. I'm planning on also getting the P version at some point in time, wich a friend of mine even used to record an album. I'd say the only reason to get a squier over this is if you want active, but even then you could probaply replace the electronics on this one and still be cheaper.

      Aka Gob they're made in the same factories as Epiphones and other imports. Thomann saves money because they have no distribution costs or middle-men to pay. They pass those savings to the customer.

    Any idea what the “MN” means in the name of this bass? I’m interested to know because it’s also my initials.

    Hey Patrick,
    I'm staring at my 12-13lb. '79 Fender Jazz as I ask, "How much does the Harley Benton JB-75MN weigh?"
    Is it a 60's or 70's bridge pickup spacing?
    Thanks!

    • @FarragoTheFox
      @FarragoTheFox 6 років тому +1

      Mine weighs about 5.2kg, or 11.5lbs.

    • @FarragoTheFox
      @FarragoTheFox 6 років тому +1

      The space between the pickups is 3.6 inches, so 60's I think.

      What’s weird is that Thomann gives different weights for different colours...?
      I have the black one, which is apparently the heaviest.

    • @samuelburns2853
      @samuelburns2853 6 років тому

      Mine`s the black one as well. 300 gramms are negligible. Might as well be within the tolerance of different scales.

      Squier isn't even in the same league as these basses,....and you'll name see a brand new Squier being offered at the sub - $200 range.

      I heard it's quite heavy, if you are in the market for a solid light bass, you might look towards an Ibanez.

    You really think a cheap bass made in China is made from American and Canadian wood. The factory in China imports premium timber from North America and turns it into instruments at below cost and then sends them to Germany? And then Germany sends them to America?
    For $139? Have you any idea of the value of..... ANYTHING?!

    • @forkless
      @forkless 2 роки тому

      Nor do any of the prominent brands for their entry-level and mid-range product ranges which are largely produced in China/Asia these days.
      ps. It still amuses me to no end how Fender et al owners moan about Chinese "knock-offs" while the only thing Thomann/Harley Benton do is designing their own product lines based on (bass)guitar archetypes and having them produced in above mentioned regions. Just like pretty much every other company. There' a lot of confirmation bias and sour grapes going around since HB stepped up their game a couple of years ago.
