I just ordered an 8 camera set of this unit. I received it yesterday, in a set with 6 cameras already sync'd, and an additional 2 cameras that had to be added. It was straightforward and worked very well. HOWEVER... The charge port went bad within a day on 2 of the cameras. One in the set of 6, and one of the additional ones. AND... they go to sleep. And don't always wakeup on activity in the field of view. You have to go to the monitor that the NVR is connected to, and click the play button ... Not exactly ideal. I'm searching for how to not have to do that... but I haven't found it yet. There HAS to be a way to live monitor without having to occasionally click the play button.

@LastGameHunter that'd be great! I know there has to be a way.

@@LastGameHunter Seems I may have found the issue. This camera system is geared toward the phone app. If I have it open in the app on my phone, the cameras don't seem to "sleep" or "pause" and the image is dynamic... it doesn't stay in a static frame state. Even on the monitor that the NVR is plugged into, all 8 cameras seem to be active, as long as the app is open and connected on my phone. This seems to be something an NVR firmware update could take care of. If the HDMI cable is connected to a monitor, the NVR should treat that exactly the same as the app on the phone. Surely this has been brought to their attention before. I can't be the first person to have this issue.

AH HAH!!! I FOUND IT!!! It wasn't the phone app. It's the recording setting per camera. If you have them set to best power saving or best recording, they go to sleep. They may or may not wake up with motion detected. I haven't tested with "Only detect humanoid" or the different Intelligent detection settings. BUT... if you have them set to Keep Recording, they don't go to sleep. When I look at the playback, there's orange indications in the timeline for when there was activity. I don't know if it's actually recording during times of non activity. It seems it's kinda poorly worded.

These look very cool the main thing that confuses me is which is the best model the website has so many varieties with different product codes. Do they all have the same cameras just different ways they hook up? Some have memory cards some seem to have 500gb hds like this one etc.

Hi yes they are different units and I have both SD card and have been great...but the 500gb unit is able to be hard wired ( meaning the main device can be network cable for better no hack ) and there is a wireless feature as well but I have had no issues with the sd units at all just that hard wire is better. Now saying this the cameras are wireless but not wifi makes a big difference in secure for Me anyway.
