I wouldn't necessarily say that. If we're talking about the issue of Scott's donations, that issue expands FAR beyond the FNAF community. There's a possibility that most of the folks harassing Scott, hadn't even heard of FNAF. If anything the "issue" is Twitter.
Great video!!! Recently, to me, it feels like there's moreso a divide between the og fans who want the games to just be a simple point n click horror and the og fans who are fine with the direction the games are headed in now. I'm a part of the latter, and I wonder where all the hate started from around the FNAF4 era of games (and especially around the launch of SB). I always loved to dissect every bit of the games, and in my opinion, security breach has been very generous with the amount of lore being given to theorists, especially with the new DLC! Also, with a community built on theorists, I'm surprised a lot of people are mad that some theories can be stemmed from the books and then applied to the games. It definitely feels like there's a big part of the community now that just hates whatever new fnaf project is being developped simply for the sake of hating it because it's not like the originals. I think that Scott was always more interested in telling a compelling and diverse story, which I think he started doing after the success of the first two games. I bet that if a game came out NOW that was just like the original 3 games and nothing else, it would be a huge flop because that kind of stuff just isn't that entertaining in modern games. The games (for the most part) have evolved with modern gaming standards, and I think the world that Scott has been trying to build has been coming together more and more now that he isn't confined to that original fnaf 1-3 style.
I think the world-building in the series is what makes it stand out among other titles. 8 years ago I remember playing FNAF 1 with my younger brother on our old crappy home PC and being absolutely terrified/thrilled/entertained all at the same time. After enough game design experience, the creator would eventually release fnaf 1 and amass a huge following of gamers/fans because of his brilliant contribution to the horror genre. There was nothing quite like his idea and THAT made it a massive success and had people wanting more. I remember hoping that Balloon Boy would have a more active role in the games because I thought he was cute/scary at the same time. I appreciate all of Scott's innovative projects, and it's just unavoidable that people would bash some of his other projects for not living up to their expectations. At the end of the day, he's the creator and can do what he wants with his creations. It's pretty much inevitable that artists and creators will receive high criticism, especially if their projects are earning money. And I just wish people would be peaceful- just sit down and enjoy the game without the drama. If you like it, cool. If you don't like it as much, cool. All I know is that the game is earning money and obviously did something right. Personally I like the original formula because losing the game felt "fair" and like a healthy competitive challenge. I made it a point to face my fear and survive all five nights and even the 20/20 modes. Now SB is a huge tangent from the original game, but as you mentioned growth is necessary so things don't stay too similar to the previous installments. Personally I wouldn't play SB myself (rather watch someone play it) but I love the designs and ideas behind it. The rockstar animatronics are fun and quirky, and provide an interesting spinoff feel.
See, comments like this are what we as a community need to do more of. Calm, caring, genuine reason. I understand all your points, and I agree with a lot of them!
Nice vid, really makes me sad that our toxic fanbase is what made scott leave.
I agree, it's extremely sad, but still we can improve our fanbase :)

@@Trecherousbeast Solid point, it's still very sad to see though either way.

I genuinely agree! I’m in the same boat of being okay with the way the games have changed.
