  • I made a brand new incubator for my snake room to handle the extra clutch volume this season. What do you guys think?!

    I'd keep a good eye on the humidity inside the tubs, even with using press and seal you may lose some moisture since it is open to the room. Pretty awesome build.

    Nice Justin! I also made an incubator out of a pop cooler. I noticed that when I turn on the florescent light inside the cooler, it heated it up quite a bit. I have it on a switch so I can turn it on when I need to and off when I don't. That way it doesn't heat up the incubator too much. I don't know, maybe something to try. I also have led computer fans in mine and they don't put off that much heat. Might just be that light. Great looking incubator though!

    yes thats true, a fluorescent light can consume maybe something around 15 watt.

    i dont see the point of that fan sucking the nice warm and moist air out.
    if it overheats while heating is off, maybe some high-consumption electronics should simply switch off? But then i dont see what it should be. Inside lighting appears to be around 20 watts, a fan like that maybe has between 2 and 5 watts, the fancy LEDs maybe a quarter of a watt each. That does not add up to anything significant.
    It makes no sense, where is the heat coming from when heating is turned off?

    My soda fridge incubator overheats too if I turn the factory lights on. Kind of weird considering it was designed to be cold.

    fluorescent lights generate a suprising amount of heat, over 50 deg C. try touching one when it's been on for a while :-)

    Justin do the fans run all the time, or do u have them wired into the heat tape, and thermostat?

  • @vankmen1
    @vankmen1 11 років тому

    If it was getting too hot just with the fans running what's the need for heat ?

    How do you maintain humidity? In each individual container or throughout the whole incubator unit? Thanks!

    • @guthriefullagar8293
      @guthriefullagar8293 6 років тому

      Bryce Lawley most people don't bother with it because there rooms that the incubator is in is up to the correct humidity. But if you cant achieve this, use tropical mist, not water because it we make the eggs mouldy and soggy. Tropical mist brings up the humidity without making the eggs soggy. Make sure you have digital humidity gages at the bottom, middle and top just incase the humidity gets to high. I hope you queerys are answered 😊
