MY father died this week and I heard song this morning and I knew he was speaking to us through your words. Thank you for that. Thank you for being a channel for his words.
I was 24 when Jagged Little Pill came out. As I stand on the cusp of 50, how does she still sound so good? How are her lyrics so profoundly great? Alanis is a rare treasure and we are lucky to have her.
The whole album is so impressive !, I usually kind of dread to listen to someone I loved their previous album , This one, Grew on me ..... RIGHT AWAY!! Thanks
Much of what Alanis sings about -- feelings, fears, pain, love, sadness, anger, hope -- are things that most of us have experienced or felt or suffered through. This is why we love her.
Metalhead here - I can't say I've followed Alanis really at all but for some reason I'm genuinely happy to see her killing it in 2020. She seems like a good person and this is great music!
BuckySwang I was fortunate to see her in a small venue of only about 50 and it was an amazing experience. I’ve liked her stuff since the late 90s despite a massive departure from where she began. If you ever get a chance to see her live, it’s worth it.
I grew up in Canada so I've been a fan since the "Alanis" pop princess days. I've loved watching her evolution as an artist and am SO glad to hear that voice again. We need it now more than ever
Alanis… I’m speechless. I was in a store and tuned a radio that was out of tune. And this just started playing…. I have followed your music career, went twice to see you rock a venue. Have told many that will listen with their hearts that you are a generational influence, a “prophetess”, and if a man want to understand a woman? Take heed to the things you have to say. A Wonderkind. Thank you dear lady.
Just heard live version on Jimmy Fallon - her daughter in her arms ( I reacting with her) as she sang. Keeping the recording on my DVR. It’s so good. If you missed it, search for it. Hope it posts soon, it’s that sweet! We love you Alanis ❤️❤️

@ Alex Deleon her live version on Fallon got me good. My daughter Vanessa hasn’t watched it, but I shared it with her husband Isaiah while I held baby Ivy Ivett who watched attentively. Absolutely poetic ✨
Always loved her unique, powerful voice, but I've never owned any of her albums. This song might change that. The elegant beauty and depth of that line, "My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze," is simply perfect. Imagine being the child of a mother who sings that line to you with that voice. Wow.

Yes!! I feel the exact same, whenever I have felt I couldn't articulate whatever I was feeling/going through, there was always an Alanis song that could. tears, tears and more tears watching and listening to Alanis and her beautiful daughter ... I sent the video to two mothers important to me, who are grieving the loss of their beautiful boys in their 20s ... this song is a song of joy and the love & connection of parents to their life's treasures - greatest gifts ... and I didn't realise almost 30 years later, that I share Alanis' birthday ...

This truly a beautiful son. I have two boys and a girl and relate to this son intensely. My babies are grown with their own babies now and I still want to keep them all ablaze.
Same age as Alanis, and so relate to this as much as I related to her back in the day. Except now it’s about our children and the unbreakable bonds. Love this woman forever, never disappoints. ❤️
As a parent with split custody of my son, it’s waterworks every time she gets to “your comings and your goings away.” Such a powerful song. This lady has her finger right on the pulse of the universe.
My only child, a daughter, just got engaged, and I'm so happy to have something like this song to share with her on the outside chance I'm not around if and when the grandchildren come around. Alanis Morissette is a Goddess, whose growth and development as an artist and a person have been a privilege to witness.
A really beautiful song, from an amazing album. I just can't get over how beautiful the album title is, too. "Such Pretty Forks in the Road". Simple, absolutely stunning.

He turned 42 and his Dad and I spent 3 days with him to celebrate in Saint Augustine, Fl. A break from his job and some relief from our "self-isolation" and the pandemic. So touching!!!! I'm not a mother, but I am a daughter, and everyday I thank my mother for the wonderful parent she is!! Great Alanis, thank you for this wonderful song!!!
I have been watching Alanis since "You can't do that on television" . Her growth is amazing! She has always had an empathetic way with her listeners! Motherhood, a world gone nuts in a pandemic! She is speaking to the eveyman telling them to seek hope in the darkest of time! She is an amazing artist. She has grown so much! This new album is a treat!
Alanis, I have been a fan of yours since the start. You are an inspiration to everyone and your voice is exquisite as always. May God bless you and your family and everyone on this planet. Stay safe and happy with love in your heart💞
i stepped away from alanis for a dozen years. then i happened on this song just when my youngest child left home. i weep each time i hear it. my god, alanis.
This whole album is pretty amazing!!! Alanis has never ceased to amaze since I first heard her in '95, at 10 years old. I was crushing on her through High School (grad '03), saw her live in '05
“My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze.” Even if, like me, you are not a parent, I think this is something we should all hold in our hearts and minds as we interact with others, especially those closest to us. Like, are my words and actions here stoking the coals or am I essentially behaving like a human fire hose? It’s also a good description of the role artists can play in society.

I don't have children yet but I feel so much of what you're singing somehow. This song is just so perfect!! It captures a parent's unconditional love so well and one day I may personally experience and understand all the more. I love all the songs on this brilliant album, Thank you ❤

Just adorable! A safe haven for our children, a sheltered nest. And always striving to maintain this deep loving Bond, to keep their joy, their amazement, their curiosity, their light!
WOW! Just listened to your live performance on the Today's Show...brought me to tears, it was incredible!!! Well done Alanis ♡ Love you! Reminiscing with my mom when we saw you in concert 6 years ago in Newport, RI for an intimate and acoustic show. Love your music always.
I agree, most definitely one of her best songs, incredible lyrics and meaning. I wish my mom wrote me this song. If radio latches onto this one - she will most likely be where she was or surpass it. Such a heartfelt song. Those lyrics. Melody. This is a song for the ages. Fantastic!!
I couldn't agree more. I cried the first time I heard this, but happy tears. This is a wonderful song written by a Mother to her children. The strongest love on Earth
Alanis has been my favourite recording artist (second to Prince) since 1996. I must admit I was hesitant about listening to this new song (but of course I would). I wondered if I'd like it. I wondered if it would take some time to like as it did with Hands Clean, which took several listens before I fell in-like with the song. However, with 'Ablaze' I am not surprised. I like it. Her voice still radiates power, strength. Her lyrics, meaning, insight-fullness. Her message through song, conveyed.
Me too..my favorite second to Prince. Have been able to see them live twice. Both of them. These four concerts were the most memorable...emotions with music 🎶 . Just saw her in September. It was so wonderful. She sang this song we all loved
Alanis is one of my favorite artists of all time. This is an amazing song but I missed her zest she had prior to becoming a vegan, volvo driving soccer mom.
She has been a whisper in my ear, and I have loved the music, but this song and album really got my attention...Thanks Alanis for sharing your voice once again..♥
She has the spiritual perspective that our new generation has lost.
This makes me cry every single time ....
Totally. I have yet to make it through this song without crying 😢 ❤
MY father died this week and I heard song this morning and I knew he was speaking to us through your words. Thank you for that. Thank you for being a channel for his words.

she's clearly remembering who she is. beautifully profound lyrics.
One of her best songs ever, definitely. I'm speechless.
I agree!! It's just so beautiful!
I contest! Too many counter-examples ;)
Agree ! To my daughter
The whole album is so impressive !, I usually kind of dread to listen to someone I loved their previous album , This one, Grew on me ..... RIGHT AWAY!! Thanks
Agreed wholeheartedly.
As an estranged child of trauma, this song hits different.
Thank you for raising me through your music Alanis. You've been right about everything. ❤
agreed
Much of what Alanis sings about -- feelings, fears, pain, love, sadness, anger, hope -- are things that most of us have experienced or felt or suffered through. This is why we love her.
The Queen is back. I had a big crush on her in the 90s and it just went back instantly with this new album! Like if you had a crush on her too!
That melodic hook at "Your comings and your goings-away ..." just kills me.
In a beautiful way.
Metalhead here - I can't say I've followed Alanis really at all but for some reason I'm genuinely happy to see her killing it in 2020. She seems like a good person and this is great music!

This lady is such a powerful vocalist and songwriter.
"We seem to easily forget that we are all made from the same cells."
😭😭😭too damn true!😭😭😭
The fact that this is about her children makes it that much more special.
I love this song lol because we mothers can relate
I grew up in Canada so I've been a fan since the "Alanis" pop princess days. I've loved watching her evolution as an artist and am SO glad to hear that voice again. We need it now more than ever
Brought to tears
Totally agree. We've been waiting for her beautiful songs for a while
Such a great album. I love this song, "My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze". Motherhood suits Alanis well.❤
Easily the best song on the album, a glimmer of her former glory
Alanis… I’m speechless. I was in a store and tuned a radio that was out of tune. And this just started playing….

@@yusufdawa2461 omg, we know
It was privated, for some reason. Good thing I stored it.
Try reading a book.
The first thing that you'll notice is some separation from each other
Yes, it's a lie, we've been believing since time in memorial
There was an apple, there was a snake, there was division
There was a split, there was a conflict in the fabric of life
One became two, and then everyone was out for themselves
Everyone was pitted against each other, conflict ruled the realm
All our devotions and temperaments are pulled from different wells
They seem to easily forget we are made of the same cells
To my boy, all that energy, so wild
Love your hues and your blues in equal measure
Your comings and your goings-away
My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze
The second thing you'll notice is that often we think that there's not enough
It might feel dark, it might feel lonely and you'll wonder why you're here
You'll be overcome with darkness and a sense of hopelessness
But it won't matter if you keep the core connected to the oneness
To my girl, all your innocence and fire
When you reach out, I am here hell or high water
This nest is never going away
My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze
And this cord is unbreakable
This pilot light is there in your pocket
And this bond, beyond unshakable
Even if we all forgot all at the same time
If we forget at the same time
To my boy, my precious, gentle warrior
To your sweetness and your strength in exploring
May this bond stay with you through all your days
My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze
To my girls, all your innocence and fire
When you reach out, I am here hell or high water
This nest is never going away
My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze
(To my boy) First thing that you'll notice is that everything is temporary
(To my girl) Next that you might now is that we will always be a family
(To my boy) My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze
Thanks for the lyrics. Is "unspeakeable" supposed to be unshakeable?
The lyrics are already in the description for the song.
Dawn Webb thanks 🙏

Soulful Alanis, you surely have mastered the art of maintaining the flame !
She lives forever! What a great song.
I love how this reminds me both of a bedtime story and a fairytale!
Love this song, has to be one of her best to date. Thank you Alanis for all the fantastic music through out the years.
I agree, most definitely one of her best songs, incredible lyrics and meaning. I wish my mom wrote me this song. If radio latches onto this one - she will most likely be where she was or surpass it. Such a heartfelt song. Those lyrics. Melody. This is a song for the ages. Fantastic!!
Wonderful wonderful song from a mother to her daughter.....I can hear my mothers voice with Alanis. Miss her to this day.....love to all!
I couldn't agree more. I cried the first time I heard this, but happy tears. This is a wonderful song written by a Mother to her children. The strongest love on Earth
I love how each of her children got their own verses ❤
I'm speechless I'm sitting here with chills and its 106° today! A pure poetic genius who never disappoints live . I love her 🥰❤🔥💯🙏
Love this song. I’ve missed hearing music from her, listened to her in high school and college a lot.
Alanis is one of my favorite artists of all time. This is an amazing song but I missed her zest she had prior to becoming a vegan, volvo driving soccer mom.
It's amazing that after so many years you can still be so good at what you do. This album is the best example of this.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So lucky that this was on my Release Radar this week, would’ve been sad to miss such a beautiful song!
Amazing talent, that gorgeous voice, this song........ so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great song, another great album. Thank you, Alanis. Feel so moved along these years enjoying your art 💕 Praying for your tour ASAP ❤️🇧🇷
Amazing how Alanis put her feelings on the voice.
This is such a powerful song. I think of my step kids every time. Beautiful song.
Alanis is a Celtic Goddess
She has been a whisper in my ear, and I have loved the music, but this song and album really got my attention...Thanks Alanis for sharing your voice once again..♥
This song is so beautiful, and the entire album is so accomplished! Full of maturity and sincerity, I just can't stop listening to it!
Just amazing!! Tears rolling down my face. You are beyond any artist. You compare to no one!!
