I love how you can distinctly hear when the other hermits switch to genuine building advice mode, it’s especially noticeable when Scar was talking about the windows
@@JoeHillsTSD oh lol, guess you'll have to find a sneaky way to get it back. 😂 The server is not safe with a weapon of that magnitude in the hands of ZombieCleo!
"The point of wordle is to share these shapes that are meaningful only to you, knowing that no one else cares" I broke out laughing when you said that, so true! Awesome episode!
I think it would look good if some of the shutters were actually closed, or closed on one side and open on the other. It would also help where you have windows with only a block of space between them.
An idea to add to the spooky factor of the haunted house. Add a couple of lightning rods to the roof so that it will have the lightning strike the house instead of anywhere else.
I am learning so many building tips today from Joe & Scar & everyone. I like when Scar said that the lower windows were more likely to be broken - that touch of realism.
The idea of plagiarising the hermits last season lead to a really unique build, this idea sounds great too and it has the added bonus of being consensual :)
its so cool to see the mansion coming together and the little interactions with other hermits! maybe for the roof you can mix in some deepslate tile so it looks like shingles that started crumbling or falling off
I love the inspiration Bdubs has brought to so many Hermits. People like Xisuma, Tango, Impulse, Joe, etc, never really used to texture their builds a whole lot, but I feel like Bdubs has shown them how amazing it can look. Of course Scar's influence shouldn't be underestimated either, but I feel Bdubs was really the originator of that type of "busy" texturing style.
I remember seeing Elvira hosting weird horror movies when I was a kid. I love that your house is modeled after the classic campy Mistress of the Dark iconic coolness 🖤
It's not spoilers, its hype Mobs don't spawn in the lush caves btw, just in extraordinary numbers nearby. Texturing idea: swap out some of the blocks with stairs, like if some bricks fell out. Old houses can also get overgrown a bit with vines growing up one of the walls
I love the dynamic and adaptive way of building, and especially how getting bits and pieces of input from other hermits for specific parts helps bring the initial concept to life while keeping it very much a joehills build
Scar with some seriously good advice there, also, the rooftop looks a bit too plain, you could extend the roof 1 layer and then breakoff a few stairs and put fences or cobwebs there
if you put in a few brick stairs blocks in the corners on the building it can looks like the bricks are broken completely away :) And maybe some spider webs behind some of the windows and in a few corners.
I absolutely love the way you just asked other hermits for build advice. Like, I've seen some of that but never like, to this extent on a build and I think that's just so cool
Have you considered popping the endstone foundation out by a block? I think it would make the house look more solid and grounded. I love the block palette you're going with!

Granité is actually what you'd call a slushy / shaved ice in french, sooo that's another win for the multilingual mucking around present in Joe's episodes :D

Just found out about Joe yesterday from Gem’s HHH stream!! I continued to Joe’s stream afterward and it really stuck out to me that they continued to help out with Gem’s project even after everyone else had logged off. It seemed incredibly kind to me and that kindness continued into this video with him picking up everyone's gear throughout the dragon fight. The best team player if I’ve ever seen one! Glad i found your channel + twitch!
I know I’m a bit late to this, but placing signs across windows with glass blocks gives another illusion that they’ve been boarded up. Also, maybe adding some stairs mixed into the building itself can add sections that look like the bricks have been broken completely! It really looks great on the edges but scattered throughout really just adds to that rundown look … *chef’s kiss*
back to watch this one for a second time. your series nine so far really epitomises what hermitcraft is for me: playing minecraft and helping (and maybe playfully inconveniencing) your friends
Hey Joe! I just wanted to suggest a thing for the windows, you could use signs and if you add o's on every corner of the sign and add the sign on the windows it could look like boarded up windows. (Ex. Like this) ____________________ | o o | | o o | ------------------
You can try adding details to the edges of the wall with sandstone stairs joe. Make sure that the direction it's facing is the front of the house and just alternate it to stairs, upside down stairs and then a regular smooth sandstone block. Oh and try adding some stair bricks on the wall to kinda add holes or depressed parts for more worn out looks.
Loved this episode, Joe. Getting advice from multiple hermits whether they are known for building or not on a singular build is a collab I didn’t realize I wanted. Especially when Scar went into super serious mode. He is never like that in his episodes, always goofing around. I would love to see a building series with Scar where he was no-nonsense. It could be a 25 part series where he builds with one hermit one build per episode in creative mode based on the other hermit’s design. But I greatly digress. I love your haunted mansion! It’s coming along so so well. And Cleo, what a good egg, giving you an elytra. Huge level up to prevent unnecessary falling deaths :)
this is my first time watching a season in real time, and i love the sense of community your videos have. of course it's great to see collabs and fun interactions across all the hermits videos, but there's just a kind of slower, slice of life vibe to your videos that is really comfortable and nice to watch. you provide a super calming perspective of life on the server, i'm excited to see what you do this season!
I can see why you were so excited and proud of this episode during streams. Especially the scene with "The Uneditable Scar" I loved your camera work. Have a great day.. See ya later.
you could texture the bottom part (ender stone brick) by incorporating sand ans sand stone to give texture of used wall , also it will make a good transition with the sandstone walls you used!
the Endstone layer: the sandstone wall pillars should come out one more block(air where they are now) and indeed, all of this layer should pop out past the brick
this is such a fun episode :D the endstone brick and brick are a combination that looks so good together also the sandstone and endstone brick combination is very interesting, i am going to use that in the future xD i am loving the mansion build
Its this video that i loved the most ngl To know the thought process and fine opinion of some hermits about your build or anything, feels like it connected the viewers more to the creator Thanks joe!
Bdubs made a cool roof that would fit this build perfectly using blackstone, deepstone, dark oak, and chains. It had a bunch of pointy spikey bits on it that would fit a victorian haunted house build.
"did I just throw my chestplate" fun fact! As of (I believe) 1.17, you only throw items from the inventory screen if they are beyond the borders of the display (or it's full), otherwise it automatically finds a slot when the display closes
One tiny suggestion: atop the endstone blocks surrounding the stairs, try a polished andesite slab. Just the tops nearest the house and furthest from the house.
Hey Joe, a small building tip...instead of putting all the trapdoors against the wall, you could place the trapdoors of one side of the window to be perpendicular to the wall, so they look like they are half opened Also you could place signs on the windows to look like they are boarded up
Joe, you absolutely should try and incorporate a pinball in the build! Or when you go through and do landscaping, use bumpers to help frame the front of the build.
I truly enjoi the vibe of this video, and the method behind the construction of your house, you really flashed out the interacition with the other hermits!
This was such a cool collaboration to watch. I love what you're oing so far this season. Didn't catch your streams so your dirt mansion made me say "wow" out loud!

I love Scars ability to just look at something and map out a whole build in a matter of seconds
16:15 Everyone: now to spiral chop to the top, or maybe use ladders. Joe: I want to glide to it form the mountain

This right here 😂
This iterative house idea is great, we'll see if the axiom "designed by committee" proves true here, it's one heck of a committee 😁
**Joe staring at a huge deposit of clay**

Oh well, you still got what you needed so 👍❤️
I meant like, at the level the bridge was on, instead of down at the monster level.
@@JoeHillsTSD ah, makes sense.
Collecting all the items from dead hermits during the dragon fight is the most Joe Hills thing imaginable, love it.
Loving that the other hermits just drop bye to check up on Joe's progress. So much collab in one video.

Me: “Not as much as dying in easily preventable ways, apparently.” 🤣😂🤣

How would you do that

The editing with the different camera angles during the conversations turned out quite well! It feels very natural.

I love how Joe made his base basing it out entirely off of sujestions from other Hermits

Using “fluttering” instead of “flattering” would’ve made that line top tier.

Stripped birch might work along with the end stone bricks and sandstone 👀

"Yeah it's like a bounce house! Outside!"
*Dies*
And thats exactly why you don't bounce outside
Joe, consider where rain may have run off of your roof, and caused staining of surfaces adjacent to that waterflow.
It was fascinating listening to all the suggestions and getting different perspectives. A great sign of a a tight community.

no but it is HEAVILY guarded...
