@GeminiTay as a fellow Canadian the idea that Canada has historical buildings compared to what England thinks is historical is kinda funny. LMAO I own a 122 (1900 completed) limbstone and 122 yo building in England isn't even considered old by any historical standards.
I love how TFC has become a troll miner under the bridge. It's so perfect. We all know he isn't likely to build more, not even a roof. It's hilarious. Meanwhile he'll have mined out the entire world by the end and does he ever sell or trade it?
as someone who loves to help my friends out with builds/supply gathering/etc. in minecraft, hermits helping hermits is always so fun and relatable to watch!!! :D
Hey Joe, I’m actually going to Ireland this summer to do an archaeological excavation on one of those “really old castles” and let me tell you, The government sure isn’t paying me for it and I’m actually paying to go be able to do the dig. Idk of castles are different in Scotland but I think your hope of the gov selling you a castle at dirt cheap is maybe not the most realistic 😂
Aw yes! I love some Hermits Helping Hermits! The sense of community y'all foster is truly heartwarming, and the ensuing snark adds just the right amount of spice. Also, as a Scot, come visit! We're nice!
I think my favorite part about a JoeHills video isn't that you never know what you get, or just the impressive building. It's that every video, EVERY VIDEO, is filled with wholesome, chill, good vibes with friends. I DO NOT get enough of that IRL. It helps, Joe. Thank you
Joe I know that your dream of buying a castle has been crushed a little in this video but I wanted to say you deserve the kind of success that would allow that. Every time I watch your videos I see someone who shares beauty and a love for his fellow hermits and I feel humanity as a whole. If the market valued such things appropriately you would have a bunch of castles. Thank you for being you.
This friendship is the most amazing and funniest thing ever xD Also what Cleo said about England is also true for France, if you want to visit Paris and expect it to be beautiful that's the first mistakes. But I only say that cause I'm French xD
Y'know, I never thought about it before, but working from the bottom up with sponges is actually quite smart, since taking out the bottom source blocks means that if you miss some or place some badly, they can't re-form. There's an argument to be made that the first sponge block is most effective if it's at the bottom, not at the top. Weeeird.
I mean there are some old medieval castles that are literally just a small keep and maybe a bit of a wall around it, I feel like those might be more affordable They might not be very impressive but they are technically "castles" as long as some upper class folk used to live in them at some point in history, because I believe that the definition of a castle is a fortified residence, typically of someone of a noble status. Or something along those lines, I know it has to be a residence because otherwise it's just a fort. But it doesn't _have_ to be big (by modern standards.) Of course it does have to be fortified because if it's not fortified then it's a palace or a mansion.
Oh also if it's in the middle of nowhere in the countryside, that'll probably help bring the costs down too. Only it'll also be a pain to deliver anything over there or even get there and back yourself, and getting any visitors to come over might be a problem too... and infrastructure in general would probably just not be there, like there's road maintenance to think about, you gotta set up your own water system probably... connect yourself to the electric grid, etc.
I must have not been paying attention for the castle conversation during the stream. I’m so sorry you won’t get a castle Joe. Seriously hilarious conversation.
I loved this HHH - it’s definitely up there in the best HHHs ever! I enjoyed seeing the replay mod view so much since I had already watched the whole stream, both Gem and Cleo’s videos, so you definitely added something new with it! Iskall showing up to teach Gem redstone was such a delight! And poor Grian, he offered Gem to come and meet Maui and Gem never saw the igc message. Season 9 HHH is the new hotness for sure.
it was so delightful in that clip watching the sand floating up as you talk about checking for kelp so the sand actually gets placed. i loved the dramatic irony lol
this is such a good choice of clips from that stream! i really like everything you're doing with replay mod in this episode, too! the opening with cleo fishing especially was very cool, the way you did that. this was very fun to watch live, and has been very fun to watch again!
Hermits habitually do hinder hermits... however! Hermits historically have helped hermits, they're hardly a harmful herd. Heaps of hermits hardly hesitate in heckling, hassling or haggling with hutzpah; hectic hoodwinking happens! However! Hilarity has hardly hampered humble hearts (w)ho habitually hasten to help hermits hewing halcyon homes, heedless of horizons. ...howdy.
Knockhall castle in Newburgh, Scotland is only £130k. It’s a ruin, but you could totally DIY it like The Indie Projects:) The Church of Scotland also has amazing properties, like Carnwath Parish Church for £80k. Don’t let the naysayers kill your pipedream - you never know when the perfect opportunity will come along!
Been thoroughly enjoying the various camera angles in your videos; the wide panning shots in the beginning were especially cool. Keep up the awesome editing, dude!
23:30 holy crap! I can't believe I never knew you could dry sponge instantly by placing it in the nether. It makes sense when you think about it, I just never thought about it lol. I always thought you just had to dry it out in a furnace, but that's a huge time saver.
Watching Joe and Cleo videos, you really get to see the side of Hermits everybody else cuts out in the editing. It's fantastic. I love it so much. Keep it up!
Excellent camera work on this one Joe! That little leap forward with Cleo's fishing bobber was such a nice intro, and the floor view from the kelp discussion. X'D The banter is one of the reasons I love HHH, loving that you're featuring these in some of your vids.
I was sad that I wasn't able to watch this HHH stream live, but this video made my day :D Also I love the work you put in to make the replay footage add to the conversation. Especially the sand on kelp bit; that certainly made me laugh as I've done the same before.
I live in Scotland just a 20 min train journey from Edinburgh, there is so many haunted palaces, historic buildings in Scotland, it is truly a beautiful place to visit and to stay, I hope your dream of living here comes true
i felt that haiku way more than i shouldve. Also, how classic that someone in Nashville feeling like it's the "big city" has a grossly misinterpreted view of the wider world. I came from NE TN and lived in Nashville for nearly 6 years and it was always my 'big city'...having moved through Birmingham and San Antonio, it's so funny to think about that time now. That said... i'm back in TN and wish I could get back to an even smaller place than that in which i find myself now.
It's kind of crazy to tell any Americans that the UK isn't going to be beautiful. I didn't have any prior plans to go but ended up dating someone there for a while. I had no expectations, and when I got there it was insanely lovely, I was shocked. The greenery was so lush, everyone had cool gardens, the roads were exciting mishmashes of different directions instead of dull grids, and there was actual old architecture that looked neat. Sheep!! I even enjoyed the food, because it was the first time in my life I really ate FRESH food. That actually changed my life and I feel very fortunate I had that experience. I do know beautiful places in the US, but not so much places people actually live in. People were also extremely nice to me. Just being given a bottle of water at the airport when I was extremely weak and unwell made me feel really cared for. (Unfortunately had the opposite experience in the US airports, where everyone looked at me in silent horror).
okay so, if *restoring* an *existing* castle is so expensive because of having to use very specific stone cut a very specific way... what about *building* a totally *new* castle, without the demands for old style materials?
Hey Joe, I really enjoyed this episode! And I've got some hopefully useful and actionable feedback: when you do the cool replay mod segments during conversations like in the first chapter, the direction of the voices is still based on where you were looking, not where we are looking, which gets kinda distracting with headphones. Could you make the audio mono for those segments to fix that? Hopefully I explained that well enough.
Buying some land and build your own castle is astronomically cheaper than buying an old one and restoring it, the trade off is that you have to do a lot more paperwork.
cleo definitely provoked ptsd of all the times people have pissed on my dreams. dreams are dreams because they are greater than reason! your castle awaits you joe!! feisty british lady make ptsd go brrrr Xo
Thanks for all the help Joe! I appreciate you
This was such a relaxing and focused mission. 🤣😂🤣
Channeling Cleo levels of savagery:
'Well I guess someone has to'
@GeminiTay as a fellow Canadian the idea that Canada has historical buildings compared to what England thinks is historical is kinda funny. LMAO
I own a 122 (1900 completed) limbstone and 122 yo building in England isn't even considered old by any historical standards.
"not very cottagecore of you" should be a thing
I suspect Cleo is more the Dark Academia type, so expecting her to be Cottage Core is probably a mistake to begin with XD
Hermits Habitually Hinder Hermits, However Hermits Have Helping Hearts
Gem had all the sand and potions and beds she could possibly need for this HHH project. She was absolutely not prepared for Cleo and Joe.
And jev. LOL
That discussion about buying castles is exactly why I love this channel so much. Just perfect.
Meanwhile, Cleo just has a castle, and is refusing to give it to Joe
I love how you went from castle to manor house to maybe a flat so quickly 😂😂😂
I love how TFC has become a troll miner under the bridge. It's so perfect. We all know he isn't likely to build more, not even a roof. It's hilarious. Meanwhile he'll have mined out the entire world by the end and does he ever sell or trade it?

joe clears out the kelp. mow hills.
so who's gonna make the kickstarter for joe to get his dream castle
4:02 "I shot an arrow into the air, / It fell to earth, I knew not where..."
"All the salt in the ocean" is peak salt levels. I love it.
Joe is the best example of a hermit helping a hermit he is just the best ever..We love you joe!!!!!!
I love that Grian randomly chimed in. Like, that must mean he was watching Joe's stream while playing, and that brings me such joy lol
Any large fortified building can be called a castle. Put a mote around your house and install some murder holes and BOOM! instant castle.

You wrong 😨😭
Cleos laugh about how London actually is just makes me laugh
Joe sounded so happy talking about buying a castle. 🥰
Aw yes! I love some Hermits Helping Hermits! The sense of community y'all foster is truly heartwarming, and the ensuing snark adds just the right amount of spice.

The kelp part is so much better with the underwater view!
ZombieCleo as salty as the Dead Sea, iJevin being the dead part 🤣
Joe casually drops onamonapia in a sentence. Word smith at work

TFC should also be a member of the HHH - He helped expand the wheat farm.
Yess ... and I would have never known if I didn't watch TFC's video
R.i.p tfc o7
This friendship is the most amazing and funniest thing ever xD

I must have not been paying attention for the castle conversation during the stream. I’m so sorry you won’t get a castle Joe. Seriously hilarious conversation.
I’ll endure.
Joe, I would love nothing more than a UA-cam series of you renovating a Scottish castle!
Help and bothering each other.
Having simple chat and murder among friends.
Big castle intentions and shattered dreams. That is this episodes theme.

Season 9 HHH is the new hotness for sure.
Could have the three H kiosk and a 4H fight ring... Hermits helping hurt hermits.
Jev not being on last life and never got to realize the ravenous revenge of hell that is Cleo lol
The editing at the start of this episode really hooked me!
it was so delightful in that clip watching the sand floating up as you talk about checking for kelp so the sand actually gets placed. i loved the dramatic irony lol

This was one of the best Hermitcraft video this season so far, absolutely hilarious.
I loved this! Hermits bantering is always my favourite thing in these seasons 💗 especially bantering with Cleo ahhaha
Someone needs to get this man a castle
Hermits habitually do hinder hermits... however! Hermits historically have helped hermits, they're hardly a harmful herd.

The jevin/cleo rivalry will be a thing this season, won't it? 😂 love the hermit interactions 💜
The contrast between Gem and Cleo is beautiful
6:55 it wouldve been so funny if jevin just hopped into the boat - LOL
The editing here was really really smoothe! All the antics fit together so neatly
The bickering reminds me of all the family trips
On the conversions about castles, there's a dude near my home town in CA that has been building a castle for years now.
Cleo is always a hoot in these.
HHH is so great.
And Joe, any time there's an aquatic adventure, don't hesitate to bust out the sea shanties!
23:30 holy crap! I can't believe I never knew you could dry sponge instantly by placing it in the nether. It makes sense when you think about it, I just never thought about it lol. I always thought you just had to dry it out in a furnace, but that's a huge time saver.
23:40, you do not need sponges to dry your ears in the nether, the water will instantly evaporate, unless it is in a cauldron.
Watching Joe and Cleo videos, you really get to see the side of Hermits everybody else cuts out in the editing. It's fantastic. I love it so much. Keep it up!
Really enjoyed the sea shanty
seriously though... using pistons really helps for drop sand
edit: I'm so glad iskall came over because his videos have demonstrated this in the past
Jevin is right, please never change Joe! This is the funniest episode of the season i've seen so far, loved it!
I love how you edit these so much. Conversations during replay mod shots and timelapses. Also 10:38 was perfect
I just started watching the British version of Ghosts and it's got very What We Do In The Shadows vibes and I love it.
I know! It’s so good the whole time!
Will we ever get a complete version of the travel shanty?
Please? It's so good. X'D
4:53 I'm already loving this video
Excellent camera work on this one Joe! That little leap forward with Cleo's fishing bobber was such a nice intro, and the floor view from the kelp discussion. X'D The banter is one of the reasons I love HHH, loving that you're featuring these in some of your vids.
I did not know you could dry sponges by placing them in the nether :o

I love the show Ghosts!! My friend showed me the BBC version recently and it’s hilarious.
C’MON, Y’ALL! LET’S GET JOE HIS DREAM CASTLE!!!
I love the chemistry of all the hermits
I rarely watch streams so this is absolutely perfect. Top notch editing as well, especially with the kelp.
I live in Scotland just a 20 min train journey from Edinburgh, there is so many haunted palaces, historic buildings in Scotland, it is truly a beautiful place to visit and to stay, I hope your dream of living here comes true
This banter is top-tier imo
More of this, please
I want to see Joe get a castle now

You and Cleo are a precious duo!
... Now I wanna see Joehills buy a castle. Just to prove Cleo wrong.
your edititing this ep is so good!!

i love this. one of my fav episodes. the more hermits the better. keep up the good work.
I really want Joe to get his Scottish Manor house now.
okay so, if *restoring* an *existing* castle is so expensive because of having to use very specific stone cut a very specific way...

I'm with you Joe, owning property in Scotland has always been a dream of mine
i was fortunate to catch this stream live and it was such aa good time!
Great camera angles on the journey to HHH

We got to help Joe to buy a Manor Castle!! :D :D
Joe must dreameth, Cleo must smasheth 💥
edinburgh is one of the most expensive real estate markets in the uk joe
This was such a fun stream to catch a part of! Thanks for making it a video too!
I watched part of the stream but wow i loved this episode!! I’m really excited to see how collaborative this season is already ❤️
Hey Joe, I really enjoyed this episode! Joe you should troll her by building a castle on the Server. Oh and if you want a castle in RL build one in Tennessee!
I have adored this episode! So hilarious, so much fun with HHH!
The storm sobs upon the ocean we just emptied. It won't be refilled.
Unrealistic minecraft physics smh
Another banger video from Joe!
Thanks again for making me smile
As someone who is not resident of the US Im under the understandment the problem with the clocks is indeed a problem of the congress
