Hedd2 or raal ca1a? Source and cost is not a problem. I don't have a Harman curve OCD and I like different sound signatures. However, I'm a sucker for good imaging, resolution and speed.
Got these and they're a notable improvement over the first one. Timbre and bass are very good. They EQ to Harman effortlessly and the bass is very puncy even at low volumes. Perhaps the least colored or emphasized sound I've heard. Might be boring to some, but that's due to the music they listen to. Great for the studio I'd say and far better than Audeze MM-500 for example. HE1000se is lacking in comparison by many metrics. LCD-5 is still much better for me as everything sounds amazing on them while these make the music just sound as it is as well as possible pretty much. They're solid value with three cables and two sets of pads as well. A very positive surprise.
I wonder if boosting the mid treble with EQ might improve the perception of soundstage depth. With some headphones that can have a surprisingly big effect, but not with others.
Can you add distortion metrics in the future? While i understand that it doesnt matter as much, it interesting to see what improvements have been made to the prior versions.
Distortion is important, specifically for EQ purposes, but we also don't want to mislead people into thinking it matters more than it does (or mean something it doesn't). So if we show it, it will require the right format.

I bought the original HeDDphone and loved the sound but found them unwearable for more than 30 minutes. The headband would dig into my scalp. So I returned them. To my ears they were anything but dark. Dark = no sale, no matter how resolving. But I always thought if they came out with a new phone that addressed the comfort issue I would give it serious consideration. But dark? No thanks.
Much intelligence, takes a large container to store it in.
It is as simple as that, huh,, 👍😎👍
"and hedd actually got a patent pending for that" yeah, thats unfortunate......
They look so boxy
I dislike the original since everything sounded airy and easy. There was technicality, but in even less enjoyable way than basic electrostatic headphones. Can these do bass weight even with EQ? Not just tactility, but deep heavy EDM bass.
@8:35 the tuning looks much nicer than the original. What was a 20dB difference between the 6Khz valley and 3Khz, has been reduced to just ~8dB (huge improvement!). I found the original dead sounding on any audio chain tilting even slightly warm.
For 2 grand, this headphone better be dam good sounding since they obviously didn't waste Money on coming up with a cool name.
