- At the request of one of our family members, here is the recipe for the guacamole:
☆2 - 3 fresh avocados OR one container of plain mashed avocados
☆2 - 3 Fresh garlic cloves (more or less according to your taste)
☆half of a lemon or lime (more or less according to your taste)
☆1 teaspoon of olive oil
Mix together and season with salt & pepper according to your taste.
We eat the guacamole dip with pretzels, nacho chips, black berries, carrots, celery, and plain Lay's potato chips.

Grocery shopping similar to how my household shops except for the prepared meals. We buy more ingredients and cook from scratch almost all our food. Fruits and vegetables make the bulk of the grocery items. I will look out for the Mango juice at Spar. Thanks for the recommendation.

Avo actually goes well with atchaar. So a cheese, egg, Avocado/gawk Mayo sandwich smaaaacks!!! A bit messy but good! You can add chicken palony or chicken bacon. 😋

If you want South African names you can name Chelsea Naledi which means star, and Karabo for Chase which means answer , both are Sesotho names.

Pick n Pay and Woolies is where we've been mainly shopping lately. We shopped at Spar when we first moved to the area. I'm curious though, what's the downside to Spar?

The cream-style corn 🌽 makes great cornbread. If you want the recipe, shout, I'll hook you up.

Ingredients
500 g (4 C) self-raising flour
5 ml (1 t) salt
pinch of smoked paprika
60 ml (4 T) melted butter
3 eggs
375 ml plain yoghurt (1 and half cups)
1 x 410 g can Cream Style Sweetcorn
125 ml (half a cup) grated cheddar cheese
butter for spreading
Strawberry Jam for spreading
(I like to add a tablespoon of sugar...not necessary 😉)
Method
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt and paprika.
In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs and yoghurt together and stir in the Cream Style Sweetcorn.
Pour the sweet corn mixture into the flour mixture and mix with a wooden spoon to bring together into a soft batter.
Spoon the batter into a loaf pan that you’ve lined with baking paper and greased, and sprinkle the cheese over the top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30 - 45 minutes or until baked through.
Serve warm with butter and Strawberry Jam.
