My advice is pick the nicest area you can realistically afford and live as close to a grocery store as possible. I live across the street from Dunn Loring metro where there is a Harris Teeter. Just the combo of having a metro station and a grocery store right there frees up so much time. My parents had their "dream house" built in Stafford in 2007 but they sold it a few years ago because they would end up spending more time driving around then they did staying at home.
