What always strikes me is the number of escorts deployed to get any British warship safely out of port these days. Not to mention the personnel manning miniguns etc dotted around the ship. The time when an RN ship would simply cast off and head for the channel are long gone unfortunately. So are the days when there would be flotillas of other RN ships waiting to follow....
