But they knew it would have cost them more than a quarter million in ratings knowing what it was. And their doing what they did plus the priest's words, would have boosted their ratings more than if nothing happened. Plus it continuously gives millions in UA-cam revenue LoL.
I agree that I have a lot of respect for them (the deal or no deal team) for how they handled it. They *easily* could’ve said “£250,000 was in that box, we’re removing the £250,000 and you’ve got to play on” and in terms of the rules I don’t think he could’ve argued against it

He doesn't actually see what values are going in each box - so I guess the wayin which he packs them he must actually blind himself somehow? Either an actual blind or he does it only looking at the white backs of the cards? So there must be a little system which occasionally has gone wrong somehow.

This really does show that there was only one adjudicator who fills the boxes every episode, and it is still the same in the rebooted 2023 version. So a lot of pressure on one person.

Every year on the 29th of April, I've always honored that game by knocking over the nearest box that I see. Last year I pushed over a kid's lunch box which revealed a ham and cheese sandwich, a small blueberry yogurt, and a Capri-Sun.
My Nan used to love Deal or No Deal. So my Mum arranged to take her to the studio near Bristol and watch it live. Unfortunately the warm up guy made a crude joke about my Nan being close enough to “grab Noel’s bollocks”, which made her very upset and she never watched it again.
Unless I’ve missed something they took all the boxes away but David’s so David then knew at that point the 250k wasn’t his surely that makes his thought process very easy?

I don't understand why they wouldn't just continue the game as is for the second one. Yes the amount was accidentally missing from the box but it doesn't mean they have to reshuffle them all. Should have just continued on as per usual.
Well that was very lucky, because if they would’ve continued, the £250,000 would be out. Even though I’m from the US (New Jersey), I am a huge Gameshow enthusiast.
I think it sets a great example on how gameshows should be made: truthful, fair, and respecting the player's choice. And it's shown on air as well. Just imagine what would happen otherwise. A lot of people would lose faith in luck shows.
To avoid allegations of foul play. Once they found the 250k sticker backstage, at least some members of the production staff (producers, host, technicians, the banker etc) might have known that the 250k was not in his box. So (in theory) their actions after that point might change the final outcome of the game. For example, if the banker knew, their next offer might be lower. This way they minimise the chance of future complaints/legal action etc if the player feels they have been robbed of a fair shot.
To avoid the cash amounts falling from the lids, they could have had the amounts permanently printed on the inside of the lid. The boxes could be sealed, shuffled and then the box numbers would be attached to the boxes in a random order.
They did have the amounts printed in box at the very beginning of the time it was on but all the amounts were in black , but I suppose they wanted it to look more jazzy having it the way you see it in this clip, and it’s more obvious to the audience at home and the players playing to see if it was a blue or red they revealed
One issue you could have with this is what is that that gives an opening for cheating. What if someone could make a mark on the 250k box - a tiny dent, a dot of ink, whatever you like - that would identify it. I mean you wouldn’t even necessarily need someone to make that mark, you might notice some tiny detail about the 250k box that would allow you to identify it.

The boxes are randomly picked by each of the 25 contestants before the show out of a hat. The people around the edge are all future contestants, not paid models like the US version.
Hated the fake camaraderie of this show. One big happy family, all in it together. Utter bs. Oh u r such an amazing person, oh I'm going to miss you, on the brink of tears, every single contestant is the same. Just open the goddamn box! Stop dragging the game out! And the contestants on the main chair really pies me off. Suddenly they are centre stage and think they are a comedian, acting aloof and in charge, again dragging the game out with their stupid systems to win the game. It's infuriating.
Noel can handle a few small hiccups after having killed a participant on a previous TV show. Like a true gent, he did send a bunch of flowers to the grieving widow afterwards.

This is the most American comment, from someone who obviously doesn't understand how highly rated this show was with Noel and now with Stephen. One of the most basic, but best British game shows. That fact it's returned after 6 years with virtualally no change shows (okay maybe a little change as in no swaps and lower grand prize)
With a lot of shows, the UK tends to go for a more modest and homely vibe so it appeals to a broad audience, being too expensive and costly can come off corporate and superficial.

You see that David has Box 3 at 2:50 and then at 4:19 you see someone carrying Box 3 away. He had the same box number but a different value inside it.
