I think Suzanne's has got to be my favourite, keeping so much of the power 5 in the game and getting to the dream finish of 100k and 250k aswell as swapping her box to win it and the icing on the cake of doing it on the bankers birthday, absolutely glorious

This is why the new DOND will "Never" replace the original version. Noel was, is, a great people person. And the show was far better than the new version. With "Swap the Box" and the 23 box, where the contestant could take a gamble on their winnings, and double, or even add £10,000 to their winnings, but on the down side could lose the lot. Some who went away with relatively small amounts, and left with the biggest and lowest numbers, were sometimes given the "Bankers Gamble" where they could forfiet their winnings, in the "Hope" that they would gain the "Top Prize" And some did.

Noel was the consummate professional, always aware of what made for good television and yet so compassionate. 2. The UK show put substance above style, with people's stories that viewers could care about. The US version was too glitzy and somehow too plastic.

I remember that first £250,000 it was i believe aired early Jan 2007, i was 9 & invested in this episode whilst my mum's neighbour was round chatting away. I was shocked when someone had finally won the £250000 which at the time felt like it was impossible.

There's a flash and a bang from the confetti cannons. That only ever happens when the £250k is won. Also, I believe the screen that normally shows the board and which amounts are still in play shows the box opening on it when they get to that part of the game. I noticed a few times that all the contestants in the wings seem to be looking at the board rather than at Noel opening the box, and it would make some sense so that the pilgrims could see what was happening as well.
And to think nearly 13 years later, where you would think the big money would be half a million, its actually gone down to just £100,000.....pathetic..!!
When the show came back, I thought it would be either 500k or possibly 1 million. But 100k is quite small for a rare game show. Especially started in 2004. They made something new and destroyed the old version of it. It's pathetic!

My Dad always used to say to that if he ever ended up on the program that he would turn top Noel Edmonds with ZERO boxes open right at the start of the show and say to him, "Get the banker on the phone.
