People don’t realize that Johnny Depp is more of a supporting character and Charlie, as the title states, is the main character. This goes to show that Johnny Depp is a class act, never trying to make the film about him but the other characters and the director.

It’s better than the original as it’s closer to the book and every character feels fleshed out compared to the 70’s version where every character is one dimensional
The 2005 film is much closer to the book. just like Willy Wonka and his portrayal. Most of those who don't like this movie grew up nostalgic with the 1971 film and therefore don't think it's that good.
This definitely was such a wonderful and great scene. It's so magical and sweet making me remember the times I had watched this for book reports as a little kid.

I was 5 when this film came out and I had to admit I was absolutely terrified of the singing animatronics or puppets that were singing about Willy Wonka and then fireworks came on and set them on fire! Used to have nightmares of it a lot, Watching back at it now I actually really like the scene as I like the clever use of animatronics I find humerous when the kids's faces are unamused by it.
Im still and will always be amazed that this is the same Guy that got pulled into the bed by Freddy Kruger with guts and blood pouring out in A Nightmare On Elm Street in 1984. lol
@darkvalue505 Whats pretty telling is while everyone is enjoying the candy, Mr. Salt is walking around looking skeptical. He's got an air of distrust around him, like he realizes something is not right about this tour. Especially with that creepy look that Mr. Wonka gives him.

For me he is the only Wonka I'm able to accept. And Johnny Depp in this film is the reason why it's my favourite Hollywood film
