  • Specialized have opened up a class 3 upgrade for the Turbo Tero hardtail eBike. This is a welcome addition as I was considering the VADO at my time of purchase because I wanted the 28mph speed. The Tero can now go 28mph, which makes Tero the perfect all-rounder for me!

    As an update, I just picked up the Tero 3.0 and it is class 3 from the factory. No upgrades needed on the new ones. Had mine for about 3 days and love this bike.

      Interesting, I just picked up a Tero 3.0 and it has a class 1 sticker on it. Honestly I'm ok with that, have zero interest in going over 20 mph.

    • @ttbmg
      @ttbmg 8 місяців тому +1

      That is interesting because he is saying his was class 2 before the upgrade. I would check with your lbs... Going over 20 mph will be something you will want soon. 😊. I ordered mine and they shipped to the shop and the shop assembled for me. Has a class 3 sticker on it. I also called the shop before picking mine up and they said yes, the Tero is a class 3 bike. Good luck and happy biking

      For those that have class 3 version, does the motor have enough power to go 28 up a gentle slope? Most of my commute is uphill and I want to go 28mph without getting too sweaty.

    • @ttbmg
      @ttbmg 3 місяці тому

      @@ridemtns13 so I rarely use turbo on my bike. I'm normally in either Eco or Trail. In trail mode I can get going really fast but 28 is something you will do either on flat ground or going downhill. I find being in trail would be adequate for your commute. Just depends how far you have to go because Terrell will eat up the battery a bit more than eco. Trail should keep the sweat off you though. But this is strictly a pedal bike as I'm sure you know. Also...rider weight will also play at actor. So for your reference, I weigh between 155-165lbs

    I like that you showed riding on the road and on the trails. I didn’t know about the Tero before I ordered the Vado 5.0 SL EQ. I couldn’t find any UA-cam videos of Vado 5.0 SL on trails. So I was concerned how Vado 5. 0 SL would perform. But your video on the Tero shows it could handle both very well. I’m re-considering the Tero instead. Wasn’t sure if your Tero is a 3.0 or 5.0. I would have to sacrifice the lighter weight of the Vado for the stability of the Tero. I do like how the Vado has kickstand. I guess you can add the kickstand to Tero. Maybe by now the Tero EQ will be avail. Your video shows and talks about what I was looking for in a bike, getting around town and weekend trips on the trails. Thank you😊

    Great bike and enjoyed your video. Do you know that that bike with the motor which can use its power for speeds above 15.5 mph would, in the UK, need a licence, road tax, number plates fitted and the rider, by law, would have to wear a motorcycle helmet. Now, does that suck, or what!?

    36T front chainring, to get to 28 mph you need to exceed a cadence of 100 revelutions/min. I've gotten up to about 25 mph, and the bike starts feeling squirrely do to the tires and I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say if you want to go that fast get a Turbo Vado. The Tero is more of a light MTB, gravel trails, do anything bike and 20 mph is a good limit.
    Tero should stay Class 1, allowing it to ride single track trails.

    Just bought my Tero 3. Everything said it would be class 1. It does in fact act like a class 3 though. My motor provides power even when I'm at 30mph going downhill. Nice surprise for sure.

      100%! I got this to replace a dual suspension mountain bike that I wasn’t using to its full potential. So I was looking for a commuter with 29” wheels I could use on trails. Tero is the PERFECT middle ground bike for this.
